Media Claims More Asians Make College Less Diverse

After the Supreme Court banned racial quotas in college admissions, MIT released its admissions figures for the class of 2028 which showed that the number of Asian students rose from 40% to 47%, while the number of white students fell from 38% to 37%. The number of black students dropped from 15% to 5% and the number of Latino students from 16% to 11%.

There would be various ways to report on those numbers, but the media nearly universally chose the following headline.

Ex-Somali PM: Rep. Omar Doesn’t Represent America, She Represents Somalia

The man knows what he’s talking about. And it’s not the first video highlighting Rep. Ilhan Omar’s mission.

In January, a video went viral featuring Rep. Omar allegedly declaring that “We as Somalians,” the translation describes, are an “organized society”, “people of one blood”, “brothers and sisters”, “people who know they are Somalians first, Muslims second.”

“The US government will only do what Somalians in the US tell them to do,” the translation states. “They will do what we want and nothing else. They must follow our orders.”

“We Somalians must have that confidence in ourselves that we call for the shots in the US… the US is a country where one of your daughters is in congress to represent your interest for as long as I am in the US Congress, Somalia will never be in danger, in waters will not be stolen by Ethiopia… the US would not dare to support anyone against Somalia.” […]

In Gaza, the Famine That Never Was

The world’s media have for months been proclaiming that Gaza is “on the brink of famine,”and that Israel is deliberately preventing food from entering the Strip, that thousands of Gazans are dying of malnutrition. But there is not now, and never has been, a “famine” in Gaza. There is, however, a problem with the distribution of food, because once the food trucks enter Gaza, Hamas operatives have been seizing much of the aid for themselves, their extended families, and fellow Hamas members, than is their due. That misallocation is a different thing. And even with those seizures, enough food is left over to ensure that ordinary Gazans do not suffer “famine.”

The Promise of Offensive War, the Perils of Containment

The Bidenites are trying to impose a deal on Israel that, if accepted, will prevent the IDF from finishing off the last four Hamas battalions in Rafah, and still leave thousands of Hamas fighters in northern Gaza who though their larger units have dissolved, have been trying to regroup. Should the Americans prevent Israel from achieving its goal of totally destroying Hamas as a military force, this would allow the terror group to claim that it has been “victorious” in the war because, despite everything that the IDF has thrown at it over eight months, it would still be standing, so that it might eventually repeat the attacks of October 7, as it has promised, “again and again.” Fortunately, Hamas now insists on major changes to the deal enunciated by Joe Biden; it demands both an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and a total withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza, something that neither Israel nor the Bidenites can possibly accept.

Social Media “Warning Labels” Don’t Fix Anything

Earlier this week, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, a useless man in a useless position wasted everyone’s time by proposing a warning for social media cautioning that it’s harmful for adolescents.

No kidding.

But that’s coming from the same administration that believes TikTok videos encouraging transgender mutilation is the right side of history.

Whatever putting a “warning label” on an app even means (probably a screen to click through), it’s a waste of everyone’s time. Social media is unhealthy for most people, but it’s particularly unhealthy for teenagers. But there are two levels of unhealthiness. One is the mechanical effect that comes from doomscrolling and chasing likes and the other is the cultural content. And of the two, it’s the latter that is the more destructive.Social media just amplifies the worst of the culture. Officially the reason that the DNC is going with a ‘virtual roll call’ for the Biden nomination is the issue in Ohio. But Gov. DeWine has offered to quickly pass a bill to make sure that Biden will still be on the ballot.

The DNC’s decision to switch to a virtual roll call may be exploiting worries about Ohio, but like the rest of its campaign decisions has more to do with locking in the nomination for Biden while avoiding a floor fight.

Chinese spy balloons have briefly captured the nation’s imagination, but they’re just another in a series of surveillance layers that begins with satellites and ends with phone apps. The spy balloons seem odd, but they reveal the thoroughness and dedication of Beijing’s data hounds who are not satisfied with hacking us, embedding thousands of spies in our universities and tech firms, but want that added edge with slow-motion spying on our bases and defenses.
