The island was self governing while serving as a trading terminal for the Dutch, English, French and Americans. A portion of Taiwan’s coast was briefly occupied by. mainland China for a brief time and then abandoned as the mainland Chinese military were desperately needed in Mongolia.

Formosa (Taiwan) was supposedly ceded to the Empire of Japan, who planned to occupy it anyway, after they defeated the Qing Dynasty (which NEVER had any claim to it) in a series of naval battles in 1895, and after WWII, any claim to Taiwan would be the victor, the USA —- therefore, America should declare Taiwan to be the 51st state, which would allow President Tsai to run for the US presidemcy and we would finally get our first decent president since the Coup of 1963!

NATO & the U.S. can stand by and allow it or we can stand up to a dictator and tyrant. If you believe you can reason with a country that has nukes you are seriously wrong. Think about it. If we allow Pootie to take whatever he wants, he will keep taking. One day he will want to take the U.S. Either way, we will end up in a shooting war. Best to fight now and show a bully he cannot rule the world because he has nukes. Am I afraid, not so much for myself but I am for my children and grand kids. Once the first nuke is detonated it will be game on for the world. Most of us are sane but a few are not and when these idiots get into powerful offices it makes for a terrible end. II a country is belligerent, knocking off the top ten or twelve leaders should be accepted as a reasonable trade off for nuclear disaster.
