Of course, in the political verbiage of the 21st century, the session will “protect California values” such as “fundamental civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action, immigrant families and more.”
These things, the governor declared, are threatened by the election of Donald Trump.
The first step of this special legislative session will be to “shore up California’s defenses against an incoming federal administration that has threatened the state on multiple fronts.”
Apparently, he has in mind secession from the union. But first, some more rhetoric:
“The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack – and we won’t sit idle.” And then Newsom borrows from Winston Churchill: “California have faced this challenge before and we know how to respond. We are prepared to fight in the courts, and we will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and the resources they need to thrive.”
He does not mention what constituted the previous challenge, or how a vote of the American people threatens residents of California, but he involved California’s attorney general, who declares, “No matter what the incoming administration has in store, California will keep moving forward.”
The governor’s handout also involves Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, quoted as saying, “I’m ready to fight harder than ever for opportunity, equality and a Golden State that works for each and every resident.” Completing the great wall of California is a similar endorsement from State Senate President Mike McGuire with a declaration that “We learned a lot about former President Trump in his first term – he’s petty, vindictive and will do what it takes to get his way no matter how dangerous the policy may be. California has come too far and accomplished too much to simply surrender and accept his dystopian vision for America.”
So much danger and so little time.
The first duty of this special legislative session is to issue public statements. What President Trump says will be refuted. The special session will focus on women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights. The special session will appropriate more money to the attorney general to file litigation against the Trump administration.
Once would surmise from Newsom’s press release that he already has rescued California from the dark ages: “Since 2019 Governor Newsom and the California Legislature have defended progress, expanded civil rights, and protected California values.” One wonders how the Golden State survived from the gold rush days of 1849 to the coming of Gavin.
His bragging points to sustain his modest appraisal of his accomplishments then cite 25 legislative bills and $200 million consumed to “protect reproductive rights” and $45 billion spent on climate change energy policy. That is, by the way, a gross understatement of the state’s climate expenditures.
With the change in administration coming in Washington, D.C., Newsom suddenly has discovered states’ rights, so much so he is one step away from secession. In fact the similarities are so strong, Newsom studiously avoided the race issue in this media blitz.
The announcement had to be covered by local media, and so Newsom was able to campaign against Donald Trump even before Trump assumed office. Setting aside the issues Newsom raised, the Democrat Party is not going to consider any policy changes or moderations. They are right on all issues. The Republicans are not only wrong, they are repugnant, and the voters, well, they screwed up, partly because freedom of speech was not corrected by the managers of “mis” and “dis” information.

]]>Republicans in the liberal state have pushed for Prop 36, which seeks to increase penalties for retail and drug crimes in California, which has struggled with rising crime. Speaking to a pool of reporters just two days before Election Day, Harris was asked if she had cast her ballot, and how she voted on the stricter crime measure. \
“So my ballot is on its way to California and I’m going to trust the system that it will arrive there. I’m not going to talk about the vote on that because, honestly, it’s the Sunday before the election. I don’t intend to create an endorsement one way or another around it, but I did vote,” Harris said.
In 2014, Proposition 47 was introduced in the state and allowed the reclassification of some felonies as misdemeanors, hitting the state’s businesses and retailers as the measure reclassified offenses such as shoplifting and grand theft. As a result of local residents’ pushback, Proposition 36 campaign was introduced and backed by California District Attorneys Association, California State Sheriffs’ Association, the Republican Party of California and Democratic San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
Since mid-September, Harris has remained silent on Prop 36, declining to state whether she would vote in favor of the measure. Notably, Harris also avoided publicly disclosing her vote on Prop 47 while serving as California’s attorney general. The vice president has faced criticism for recently flip-flopping on left-leaning policies she previously supported before 2020.
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, however, came out against the measure in September, claiming it would take “millions from what’s proven to actually keep us safe,” according to Politico. However, as support for the measure has continued to rise, the governor has begun to highlight his administration’s efforts to curb retail theft, noting that while he believes the measure will pass, he “hope[s] people take the time to understand what they’re supporting,” The Sacramento Bee reported.
Within a recent poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), the tough on crime measure is poised to pass within the state as 73% of those surveyed stated they will be voting “yes” on their ballots.

]]>This excludes those who illegally entered and evaded capture, known as gotaways. CBP doesn’t publicly report gotaway data. The Center Square first reported gotaway data in 2021 after obtaining it from a Border Patrol agent. In fiscal 2023, there were over 101,000 gotaways reported in California’s two sectors and nearly 413,000 apprehensions, The Center Square exclusively reported.
Fiscal 2024 gotaway data is forthcoming, but if trends continue as they have in the past, California’s total reported illegal border crossers, including apprehensions and gotaways, are expected to surpass 625,000 in fiscal 2024. That’s up from nearly 514,000 combined in fiscal 2023.
The data also excludes inadmissibles released into California through roughly a dozen parole programs created under the Biden-Harris administration that federal judges, roughly half of state attorneys general, and Congressional Republicans argue are illegal.
California shares the smallest international border with Mexico of the four southwest border states – 137 miles. It’s nearly evenly split in linear land mileage between the CBP sectors of El Centro and San Diego.
The San Diego Sector is the largest of the two sectors, covering nearly 57,000 square miles, including 931 miles of coastal border stretching to Oregon. It shares 60 linear miles with Mexico by land and 114 coastal miles along the Pacific Ocean. The area with the greatest foot traffic includes roughly 7,000 square miles that encompasses beaches, mesas, an inland mountain range, canyons and high desert.
The greatest number of apprehensions have historically been reported in the San Diego Sector. In fiscal 2024, San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended at least 324,260 illegal border crossers, representing a 40% increase from their fiscal year 2023 apprehensions of 230,941.
San Diego Office of Field Operations reported 183,890 encounters with illegal foreign nationals in fiscal 2024, according to the data.
Now retired San Diego Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke has testified before Congress about the hardships San Diego Sector agents faced resulting from what he described as Biden-Harris administration “open border policies.” He’s described the impact of having to close Border Patrol checkpoints when illegal entries peaked in July 2022 to roughly 16,000 knowing that miles of the border were left wide open and unpatrolled.
He’s also testified how agents were ordered not to report an alarming increase in “special interest aliens” and continue to grapple with unaccompanied minors believed to be drugged, smuggled and trafficked. California agents have also expressed alarm about the volume of fentanyl pouring through the sector as federal, state and local law enforcement officers have seized enough fentanyl in one year to kill billions of people.
In the El Centro Sector, Border Patrol agents apprehended 17,484 illegal border crossers in fiscal 2024. The sector lies in the Imperial Valley of Southern California and spans 71 linear miles along the U.S.-Mexico border. Much of it is remote and dangerous, including desert and mountainous terrain where summer heat regularly exceeds 120 degrees.
El Centro Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino has expressed alarm about unaccompanied children who agents rescue “from being exploited by smugglers. These criminals are not related to the children they smuggle. These traffickers go to extreme lengths to smuggle these children – giving them sleep aids to keep them quiet.”
El Centro Chief Border Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino also told members of Congress that a surge of more than 50,000 illegal border crossers in fiscal 2023 took agents away from their primary purpose to protect the homeland. “Any time there is a surge of individuals processing care, feeding and care of those individuals takes Border Patrol agents away from their primary job of preventing bad people and bad things from coming across the border,” Bovino said.
As Texas’ border security mission, Operation Lone Star, put pressure on cartel traffickers, illegal border crossers were moved west, with the San Diego Sector becoming the epicenter of the border crisis, The Center Square first reported in February and again in April as the crisis worsened.
California has also reported an increase in Chinese illegal border crossers as federal agents continue to target California-based Chinese-linked money laundering operations linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, The Center Square reported. California sheriffs have expressed their opposition to Vice President Kamala Harris’ border policies, saying, “we do not support her,” The Center Square reported. One sheriff told members of Congress that the policies of the Biden-Harris administration and Gov. Gavin Newsom turned California into “an open territory for the cartel to do whatever it wants.”
Combined, apprehensions in California’s two sectors totaled at least 525,634, excluding gotaways. Data for both sectors is consistent with nationwide data: the overwhelming majority of illegal border crossers are single adults coming from all over the world.
]]>California Gov. Gavin Newsom appears to be taking actions to regulate gasoline on two fronts — through the legislature, and CARB, which consists of 14 voting members — 12 of whom are appointed by the governor without State Senate confirmation.
“In September of last year, CARB estimated that the change could lift gasoline prices 47 cents a gallon, or $6.4 billion a year,” reported the Los Angeles Times. “Other analysts put the price even higher — 65 cents a gallon, or $8.8 [billion] a year.”
It’s unclear how much the new refinery regulations — which would give the state power to tell refineries when they’re allowed to shut down for maintenance and repairs, and determine how much inventory of gasoline to maintain on hand in case refineries have to be shut down — would cost. However, a broad coalition of Republicans, Democrats, neighboring governors, and even labor unions is opposing the measure, which does seem ready to pass.
The small group of labor organizations that came out against the bill — employed in energy trades — shared a number of safety and even electoral concerns.
“This issue is readily being used against our candidate in those states and beyond,” wrote the coalition regarding the potential direct implications for the swing states of Arizona and Nevada that rely on California for gasoline, and the use of California’s climate positions as a tool to attack Democrats nationally more broadly. “If we cannot be heard and believed on issues that could jeopardize the lives of our members, something is very wrong in CA. Every member who votes for this bill should be prepared to answer if something goes wrong”
Assemblymember Joe Patterson, R-Rocklin, said that he believes most legislators actually no longer support the bill but feel strong-armed by the governor.
“The legislature honestly needs to stand up for itself and tell [Newsom] no. I’m guessing the vast majority of legislators want this bill to die,” said Patterson on X. “We shouldn’t do it just because of the Governor’s strange obsession with this weird policy to give bureaucrats power over gasoline production.”
CARB will be voting on the new amendments to the state’s low carbon fuel standard on November 8, just days after the presidential election, on whether or not to adopt new, stricter standards that will make it harder to generate LCFS credits, and require more LCFS credits to be purchased.
As can be seen in CARB data, the LCFS has been so successful that as of April 2024, the most recent data point, the reduction in carbon intensity of the state’s fuel system is already past the goal for 2026. While the widespread availability of LCFS credits has reduced emissions, the rapid scaling of the desired LCFS credit-producing technologies has also reduced the value of individual credits.
Should the new, more strict LCFS requirements be adopted, fewer credits would qualify, and the cost of credits would go up, but much of the billions of dollars invested in existing infrastructure to generate LCFS credits could turn worthless overnight.
California’s gas taxes are already the highest in the nation, with federal, state, and local taxes and fees adding approximately $1.62 per gallon, which is significantly more than the difference between California and national gas prices. If the LCFS is approved, California gasoline could cost approximately $2.09 to $2.27 per gallon more than the national average, a move that could drive more consumers to electric cars, or out of the state entirely.
]]>California officials have rejected further rocket launches by SpaceX, a company owned by Elon Musk. Some of the officials have cited his posts on social media platform 𝕏, which he owns.
According to the Los Angeles Times [emphasis added]:
SpaceX’s plans to launch more rockets from the California coast were rejected by a state commission this week, with some officials citing Elon Musk’s political posts on 𝕏 and raising concerns about the billionaire’s labor record at his companies.
The plan to increase the number of rocket blasts into space up to 50 a year was rejected by the California Coastal Commission on Thursday despite assurances from Space Force and Air Force officials that they would increase efforts to monitor the effects that rocket launches have on nearby wildlife.
The 1st Amendment protects American citizens from being silenced, censored, or otherwise punished over lawful speech. It was written specifically regarding laws passed by Congress, but applies to all levels of government and is not exclusive to the legislative branch.
Of course, the First Amendment also applies to the non-legislative branches of government—to every government agency—local, state, or federal. — Herbert v. Lando, 441 U.S. 153, 168 n.
In other words, it is blatantly unlawful for California officials to enact government policies against Musk or anyone else based in any way on their opinions of his speech. That didn’t stop California Coastal Commission Chair Caryl Hart from citing Musk’s politics in their decision.
“We’re dealing with a company, the head of which has aggressively injected himself into the presidential race,” Hart said.
It may not matter what the California Coastal Commission believes. SpaceX is a leading contractor for Vandenberg Space Force Base. Federal officials do not need a permit or permission from the commission to launch rockets as long as they agree to mitigate negative effects from their actions.
As free speech advocate Michael Shellenberger noted:
California regulators have blocked @SpaceX launches because they disagree with @elonmusk ‘s politics. This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment and a gross abuse of power, even in increasingly totalitarian California.

Shellenberger went on to lambast politicians across the state, particularly Governor Gavin Newsom:
The California Coastal Commission rejected SpaceX’s proposal to increase rocket launches for political not environmental reasons. Just look at what they said
— “We’re dealing with a company, the head of which has aggressively injected himself into the presidential race,” said CCC Chair Caryl Hart.
— “This company is owned by the richest person in the world with direct control of what could be the most expansive communications system in the planet,” said another commissioner.
— “Elon Musk is hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods and attacking [the Federal Emergency Management Agency] while claiming his desire to help hurricane victims with free Starlink access to the internet,” said another one.
All California regulators take their cues from California Gov. @GavinNewsom.
As such, this could be payback by Newsom, who has been at war with @elonmusk ever since Newsom signed legislation that makes it easier for teachers to brainwash children into believing they are the opposite gender and can change their sex through drugs and surgery.
The governor of America’s richest and most populous state yesterday doubled down on his new law, which requires that schools hide a psychiatric disorder known as gender dysphoria from parents.

That war escalated when @GavinNewsom got the legislature to ban AI parody videos relating to elections after @elonmusk shared one mocking @KamalaHarris
Ten days ago, a federal judge blocked the implementation of Newsom’s censorship law for being an obvious violation of the First Amendment:
California's recent ban on election-related "misinformation," including political parody, is unconstitutional, a federal court has just ruled. Free speech, not censorship, is the solution to bad info. Wonderful repudiation of totalitarians @GavinNewsom @KamalaHarris & @Tim_Walz pic.twitter.com/YiUmyChqu4

Having implemented policies that increased homelessness by 40%, and that increased violent crime so much that it is now 31% higher than the national average,
@GavinNewsom is spiraling into nihilism.Since Newsom took office in 2019, California’s population saw a net decline of around 500,000 people, resulting in the loss of a Congressional seat.
Newsom’s radical lockdowns destroyed thousands of family-owned small businesses and stunted a generation of children.
Now, Newsom appears determined to chase California’s most successful entrepreneurs out of the state.
Newsom will go down in history as the worst, most destructive governor in California’s history.

Elon Musk tends to come out on top even when there is ambiguity surrounding an issue. This is a violation of his 1st Amendment rights prima facie, so he should have no trouble smacking it into the totalitarian abyss where it belongs.
]]>The Mercury News reported in 2005, “Although Mayor Gavin Newsom has not taken a position, several of the city’s most liberal leaders are supporting the far-reaching ban — including District Attorney Kamala Harris and four supervisors who are listed as sponsors.”
This statement underscores the political climate in San Francisco, where liberal leaders like Harris were eager to push their anti-gun agenda.
The ban, which required city residents to surrender all handguns within a mere four months, was a blatant overreach. The New York Post noted that the measure was “approved by San Francisco voters on Election Day 2005, but struck down by state courts before it could take effect.”
It’s telling that even the courts recognized the potential for this ban to violate fundamental rights.
But Harris didn’t stop there. On September 18, 2024, Breitbart News highlighted another alarming aspect of her approach to gun control. While serving as San Francisco DA, she supported firearm storage regulations that essentially allowed police to invade the privacy of citizens’ homes under the guise of compliance checks.
Kamala Harris said, “…just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home… doesn’t mean that we’re not going to walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible and safe in the way you conduct your affairs.”
This statement is not just a threat to personal liberties; it is an outright declaration of intent to undermine the sanctity of the home.
In a time when the Second Amendment is under constant attack, Harris’s history raises serious questions about her commitment to the rights of American citizens. Is this the type of leadership we want in our government? It’s time to scrutinize the motives behind such politically motivated actions and demand accountability from those in power.

]]>“I believe in that old adage that as goes California, so goes the rest of the country.” – Kamala Harris
(The Center Square)—When Harris named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her vice presidential nominee, the Democrats were thrilled since he looks like someone who’d be at home on a tractor, sporting a straw hat while tending to his crops. The left believes his facade will persuade moderate and middle-class voters to move left and support Democrats in November. But, the left is counting chickens before they hatch.
It wasn’t just happenstance that Harris chose progressive Walz as her right hand comrade to run with her in November. Waltz is not a low profile progressive whose name happened to pop up. During his first term as governor, Walz was constrained by a Republican majority in the Senate. But in his second term, the Minnesota state government turned far left, as solid blue as California.
Walz is very open about his views and as governor he has put them on auction. He has positioned himself as another Bernie Sanders, the socialist senator from Vermont. He revealed his philosophy on last week’s “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser call when he said, “Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values. One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”
It usually takes months to vet a potential candidate for a high office. But since Biden was forced to step down by the DNC just before their convention, they didn’t have time to fully investigate Waltz’s background. As questions about his past and his policies have been revealed by opponents and the media, Democrats have been working overtime to re-image and hawk Walz to moderate voters.
It has been said that people judge you by the company you keep. When Harris announced that she had chosen Waltz as her running mate, those who were most excited about her choice include the progressive “Squad” members Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman of New York. Socialist Bernie Sanders also immediately expressed his approval.
“To me socialism means that we must work to reform a system that is corrupt.” – Bernie Sanders
Everyone already knows that Harris hails from the progressive bastion of progressive California. As a U.S. senator she gained the reputation as the most liberal member of the Senate in her first term. Harris’ record speaks for itself. She cast the most tie-breaking votes in Senate history to green-light the Democrats’ most radical, inflationary priorities. Her votes led to trillions of dollars of runaway spending by Democrats and the confirmation of many radical activist progressive federal judges.
Since Walz was a last minute pick by Harris, the American people did not know much about his policies or his past. And the liberal media did not have time to run cover for him like they’ve done for Harris since she’s been in office. Legislation Waltz has signed into law rivals that in California.
“I believe in diversity and I think the legislation I have signed into law proves this.” – Tim Walz
The seeming schism in Walz’s progressive ideological history has become a subject of red-hot national political debate since it was revealed that he was Harris’s running mate.
Since Walz was elected, Minnesota allows abortion on demand at any stage of pregnancy. Walz overturned a former “born alive” provision that offered protections for babies who survived an abortion.
Walz believes government is the answer. He thinks government should over-rule parents if it does not like decisions they make. He signed a trans-refuge bill to “protect children from their parents” who come to his state for gender-affirming care, like puberty blockers or sex-change surgery.
Walz signed a bill to provide K-12 students, regardless of need, free breakfast and lunch. It has cost millions of dollars and he raised taxes to finance it. Giving free stuff to everyone buys votes and increases dependence on government but it’s paid for by taxpayers, not the leftist politicians.
In typical progressive fashion, Walz signed legislation that requires menstrual products, such as tampons and sanitary napkins, to be provided in both boys’ and girls’ public school bathrooms.
“Gov Walz wants to insure all those who menstruate have access to period supplies.” – Lacey Gero
Walz has bucked the national trend of many other governors and continues to raise taxes to finance his many progressive programs. Jared Walczak of the Tax Foundation said, “Gov. Walz’s tax record is notable because of how much it contrasts with broader national trends. Walz is rare among his peers, to dramatically increase taxes while other governors have championed tax cuts.”
In 2023, he passed a bill making illegal aliens living in the U.S. eligible for driver’s licenses. He proposed giving illegal aliens free health insurance from the state’s low-income insurance plan. Walz supports laws that forbid local law enforcement from informing federal authorities about the status of illegal aliens that they arrest.
Walz, like Harris, changes his policy support for survival. While he was in Congress, he represented a very conservative Minnesota district. He crossed the aisle many times and supported bills that his conservative constituents told him to pass. In fact, at one time GovTrack rated Walz the 12th most politically right member of the House Democratic Caucus. Of course that was then – and this is now.
Democrats claim Walz will “bring normality back to the chaotic political environment,” just as Harris and Biden once promised. But most people see Walz as anything but a return to normalcy. And the Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley contended that the Harris and Walz team will “make up the most radical, far-left, progressive presidential ticket in the history of our country.”
There are many reasons why people are leaving states like Minnesota and California, which rank in the bottom 10 for net migration. Blue state progressive governors are raising taxes to patronize the illegal aliens and identity groups, at the expense of services used by taxpayers. They are funding drug addicts and the homeless programs, which encourages more to come. Their insane climate laws and other Orwellian politics make living in a blue state impossible and the people want out.
If Kamala Harris and Tim Walz win the election and take control of the House and the Senate, in four years America will be a clone of California. With progressives running America, California will have unprecedented influence on the laws passed by Congress. As the first California Democrat to win the White House, Harris will charter policies that replicate California’s ideology for all America.
Harris’ positions are so extreme they make Orwell’s Big Brother look liberal. Harris is the biggest remake of a candidate in political history. And we’ll see the real Kamala Harris on Nov. 6.
]]>“In our age, there is no such thing as ‘keeping out of politics.’ All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.” – George Orwell
So please don’t try to convince me that this is normal. Of course it isn’t just the state of California that is experiencing an unusual number of natural disasters. As I have been warning for a long time, our entire planet is becoming increasingly unstable.
Early on Thursday morning, residents of southern California were shaken by a magnitude 4.7 earthquake…
A large, 4.7-magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Southern California early Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake struck the Malibu area around 7:28 a.m. with an initial magnitude of 5.1, officials said. It has since been downgraded to 4.7.
The epicenter of this quake was in Malibu, but people living all over the Los Angeles area could feel it…
The 7:28 a.m. quake was centered in the Malibu area. Shaking from the earthquake was reported in Malibu, Hermosa Beach, La Mirada, Anaheim, the Hollywood Hills and parts of the San Fernando Valley so far.
I even saw one report that indicated that the earthquake could be felt all the way down in San Diego. Following the initial quake, there were over two dozen aftershocks.
By itself, this latest earthquake wouldn’t be that big of a deal, because very little damage was done.
What makes it important is the larger pattern that we have been witnessing. According to USGS seismologist Lucy Jones, the number of “magnitude-4 sequences” that we have seen so far this year is the highest ever recorded…
In a televised Q&A just after the temblor, USGS seismologist Lucy Jones said: “We have had more than the average [number of] magnitude-4 quakes in Southern California this year — the average being about eight magnitude-4 sequences, that being sequences of at least one magniture-4 … So far we’ve had 14 in Southern California; the largest previous year was 13.”
So what does all of this mean? Is all of this seismic activity in southern California building up to something?
If you ask one scientist you will get one answer, and if you ask another scientist you will get another answer.
But pretty much all of them agree that “the Big One” is way overdue.
When “the Big One” finally arrives, life in southern California will never be the same again.
At the same time that all of this shaking is taking place in southern California, wildfires in the region are burning tens of thousands of acres.
Firefighters are battling three major wildfires at this moment, and it is being reported that the Bridge Fire has now “exploded” and has become “the largest active fire in the state”…
A raging wildfire in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties has exploded to almost 50,000 acres, forcing residents to flee in a hurry and destroying dozens of homes.
The Bridge Fire has set over 51,000 acres ablaze and is 0% contained, officials said Thursday. Its rapid growth made it the largest active fire in the state, surpassing the Line Fire, which is also burning in San Bernardino and has scorched another 37,000 acres with 18% containment.
One evacuee described a harrowing scene on Tuesday as flames reached a neighborhood atop California’s Mt. Baldy. Looking at the mountain from afar, “it looked like a nuke went off, nothing but smoke,” Liz Wenzel said.
Can you imagine looking back at where your home once stood and seeing that it looks “like a nuke went off”?
What a tragedy.
You may be thinking that there are wildfires in California every year, and you would be quite correct. But what we are witnessing this year is particularly horrible.
We are being told that the state has already “seen nearly three times as much acreage burn than during all of 2023″…
California is only now heading into the teeth of the wildfire season but already has seen nearly three times as much acreage burn than during all of 2023. The wildfires have threatened tens of thousands of homes and other structures across Southern California since they accelerated during a triple-digit heat wave over the weekend.
Just think about that for a moment.
The number of acres that has burned in California is already three times higher than all of last year, and we are just now entering the heart of wildfire season for the state.
Of course we are also seeing lots of very unusual things happen elsewhere around the world too.
For instance, the number of hailstorms in Europe appears to be increasing at an exponential rate…
Having analysed the European Severe Weather Database, Chaucer said that the number of hailstorms has jumped 104% to 11,808 storms last year (year-ending June 30th 2024), up from 5,785 in 2022/23.
That certainly isn’t good.
And earlier today I came across a story about a landslide in Greenland that caused a mega-tsunami that “shook the Earth for nine straight days”…
After a mountaintop collapsed into the sea in Greenland, a ‘mega-tsunami’ as tall as a skyscraper shook the Earth for nine straight days, baffling scientists around the world.
No one was injured by the landslide or resulting tsunami, but the 650-foot-tall wave destroyed roughly $200,000 worth of infrastructure at an unoccupied research station on Ella Island.
We all live on a giant space rock that is hurtling through space at 67,000 miles per hour.
All throughout history, the giant space rock that we live on has been unstable, but now things seem to be getting a lot worse.
I am entirely convinced that we are entering a time when we will see cataclysmic geophysical events that would have once been absolutely unthinkable to most people.
In other words, if you have always wondered what it would be like to be inside an epic Hollywood disaster movie, you are about to get your chance.
So buckle up and hold on tight, because a tremendous amount of shaking is ahead of us.

]]>The ground has been moving in that area for quite some time, but in recent months the rate of movement has accelerated significantly.
On Monday, authorities announced that another 105 homes would have their power cut off because emergency repairs are required…
More than 100 additional homes in Rancho Palos Verdes will have their power cut because of worsening landslides in the area, city officials said Monday.
This time, 105 of the 270 homes in the Seaview neighborhood will see the lights turned off as of 7 p.m. Monday, officials said. The shifting earth puts electrical equipment at risk and could spark a wildfire among other dangers if power lines are electrified, officials said.
The day before that, authorities shut off the power to 140 other homes…
This is the second power shut-off in as many days in the area, a peninsula about 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles famous for its sea breezes, gorgeous views, and expensive homes. On Sunday, officials shut off power to 140 homes in the Portuguese Bend area of Rancho Palos Verdes, about a mile up the coast. In that case, officials also issued an evacuation warning, meaning residents had to prepare to leave should they be ordered to do so.
What we are witnessing is absolutely insane.
This is one of the most beautiful areas of the entire state, but the constant geophysical instability is making it extremely difficult for people to live there.
According to city council member David Bradley, the ground is now moving “up to 10 inches a week”…
“The movement has accelerated dramatically over the last 12 months, where some areas are moving up to 10 inches a week,” said city council member David Bradley. “You can almost see the ground move.”
How can you ever feel secure if the ground all around you is constantly moving?
On Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom finally declared a state of emergency…
California Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency on Tuesday for the city of Rancho Palos Verdes amid the ongoing land movement threatening hundreds of homes.
The proclamation, issued early Tuesday afternoon, comes as the city works frantically to mitigate the damage from the slow-motion natural disaster, which has displaced many residents and caused officials to shut off electricity indefinitely to hundreds of homes in the community.
The truth is that a state of emergency should have been declared a long time ago.
The entire community is slowly but surely being pushed into the ocean.
As I discussed in a previous article, a “stunning new stretch of shoreline” has been created because so much of the ground in Rancho Palos Verdes has been dumped into the ocean…
Even still, months after the movement began, earth continues to shift, creating an unexpected and stunning new stretch of shoreline near Rancho Palos Verdes.
“Somebody said, ‘Oh, you know there’s a new beach.’ It’s not really a beach yet,” said city geologist Mike Phipps. “A beach typically has sand on it. This is just literally landslide debris, a lot of rocks being pushed up and out of the surf.”
It didn’t take years for this to happen.
According to CBS News, there is an “astonishing” difference when viewing photographs of the shoreline “pre-2024 and six months later”…
A few month’s difference is astonishing when viewing side-by-side photos of the shoreline pre-2024 and six months later, with a few hundred feet of new rocky shore that formed as the land continues to move, piling up under the water’s edge.
“What’s happening is, the ground is rising up and coming up, right through the ocean and lifting it up out of the ocean,” Phipps said.
So why is all of this important?
In 2024, there has been a tremendous amount of seismic activity all over the “Ring of Fire” which runs roughly along the perimeter of the Pacific Ocean.
Of course the entire California coastline sits directly along the “Ring of Fire”.
In just the last 7 days, there have been more than 900 earthquakes in California and Nevada.
Thankfully, “the Big One” has not materialized yet, but scientists assure us that it is eventually coming…
The infamous but elusive possibility of a devastatingly large earthquake known as “The Big One” always comes to mind when a significant quake strikes in California.
But there’s actually several devastating quakes that will eventually hit the state.
The USGS estimates that within the next three decades, there’s about a 46% chance an earthquake of magnitude 7 will hit in the Los Angeles area, and a 51% chance it will happen in the Bay Area.
The chances of a 7.5 magnitude quake are 31% in the Los Angeles area and 20% in the San Francisco area in the next 30 years.
We could see a magnitude 7 earthquake hit the state tomorrow.
And that would certainly cause a tremendous amount of damage.
But the great California earthquake that I have been warning about will literally change the geography of the state when it suddenly strikes.
The clock is ticking, and there have been plenty of warnings.
Unfortunately, “the Big One” has become a punchline to most of the people currently living in the state, but they won’t be joking when that fateful day finally arrives.

]]>California was going to pass a law to pay black citizens for being black. What else could it be, considering California was a free state in the 19th century? Gov. Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris worked to turn that policy over to the California Reparations Commission. Harris always has been on record in favor of reparations, but timing is everything, and the woman wants to be president. The election is a few weeks away, and reparations are not politically correct.
Democrats in the legislature advanced a package of 14 bills produced by the work of the California Reparations Commission, and did so right in the midst of a presidential election. Their planning obviously was disrupted by the forced sidelining of the elected president and his replacement by candidate Kamala Harris. Now it’s time for cleanup in aisle California.
Non-Californians need to know the state’s legislature does most lawmaking under cover of darkness, with no public hearings, adding language to bills on the last day in the last hour of the legislative session. These are pieces of legislation that would not pass under the normal course of business. When you wish to write the rules for everyone else, and you do not want them to notice, Golden State lawmaking is done in secret, and the bill is on its way to be signed by a governor before the public is even aware of what just happened.
As an aside, this is how a state becomes a one-party state. It also is an example of how to destroy democracy.
Had the Republican Party blocked the funding bill for reparations, cities would burn. But since only 20% of California legislators are Republicans, the Democrats had to take action on their own. Had Joe Biden remained their candidate, none of this would have happened.
It would not do to raise the reparations issue with a presidential election only a couple of months away, and the Democrats’ political campaign focused upon the first black woman candidate. There will be plenty of time to fund reparations in California, and perhaps the nation, if Kamala Harris wins this election.
If the legislature had not demurred, it would have been left to Gov. Gavin Newsom to veto reparations, and he would not personally want to do that, as he bragged at every opportunity of having orchestrated the establishment of the California Reparations Commission. With a title such as that, it was a foregone conclusion what the group’s recommendations would be.
It is a bit strange to watch the California Democrats kill the reparations funding and watch the Democratic firebrands whimper. They sacrificed for the cause of the nation’s first black, first person of India heritage and the first woman president.
They are consoled by the thought that things will get better as soon as the Democrats control everything. In this election, 15% of the legislative districts in California do not have a Democrat an a Republican on the ballot. As it stand, before the Nov. 5 Golden State vote, Republicans, again, control only 20% of the state legislature and zero statewide constitutional offices.
The last day to register to vote in California is Oct. 21. All voters will receive a mail-in ballot, which may be “dropped” into unattended boxes located throughout the state. To avoid the election-day rush, in-person voting starts on Oct. 26, and the only restriction on mailed ballots is that each must be postmarked by Nov. 5 and be received by Nov. 12.
The outcome of California’s vote is not jeopardized by the end-of-session, late-night hold placed on reparations. California Democrats sacrificed reparations now to make a substantial in-kind contribution to the election of Kamala Harris.
