Biden made the comment during a Tuesday Zoom call with the organization Voto Latino after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” at Trump’s Sunday Madison Square Garden rally. Luntz, on “CNN News Central,” argued Biden’s remark holds greater weight than Hinchcliffe’s because he is the president, adding that it was “inappropriate” even if people interpret it differently.
“It’s gonna be huge because this is not some comedian saying something stupid and offensive at a rally where he should have been just basically disinvited. This is the president of the United States endorsing his vice president saying something, and I know that there’s different interpretations about what he said,” Luntz said. “It’s still inappropriate. He still shouldn’t be doing it and I’ve watched Trump already seize this.”
“The basket of deplorables was significant, was meaningful in 2016. In 2024, I can promise you that this is gonna drive Trump turnout,” he added. “He’s doing it already … I’m sure there’s going to be ads on as soon as tonight about this. This may be a turning point for those final 3%, and that’s all it is, who still need to be persuaded.”
Trump currently leads Vice President Kamala Harris slightly in five of the top seven battleground states, with Harris only holding narrow advantages in Michigan and Wisconsin, according to RealClearPolling averages.
“And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage.’ Well, let me tell you something … I don’t know the Puerto Rican that I know — or a Puerto Rico, where I’m — in my home state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people,” Biden said Tuesday. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
Biden tried to clarify his comments in an X post Tuesday night following criticism, claiming he was referencing Hinchcliffe’s “hateful rhetoric” rather than all Trump supporters.
The White House first published a transcript that recorded Biden saying “supporters’,” with a plural possessive apostrophe. It subsequently changed the transcript to read “supporter’s,” suggesting that Biden was only referring to Hinchcliffe.
Harris reportedly plans to visit the southern border while on a campaign trip to the swing state of Arizona. Luntz said that Harris’ visit should have taken place earlier in her tenure as vice president.
“I actually would advise against it, that her time to have gone to the border was last year or the year before that,” Luntz told “CNN News Central” host Brianna Keilar. “And now, it only highlights the fact that she hasn’t really focused on this issue, even though she had some, we can’t determine what, the actual responsibility was that she had in the administration because it’s been muddied, but this is an area that Donald Trump can say, just look at the numbers, look at the immigration statistics, look at the illegal immigration that took place under his administration and under the Biden-Harris Administration.”
Illegal immigration is a prominent issue in the 2024 campaign. Border Patrol agents have encountered over 7 million illegal immigrants since the start of fiscal year 2021, according to figures released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Residents of Springfield, Ohio, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that an influx of Haitian migrants led to an increase in traffic accidents and skyrocketed housing prices. Some crimes, including auto theft and shoplifting, climbed in Springfield after the migrants arrived.
Residents blamed the city’s struggles on the Biden administration’s border policies.
Crime involving illegal immigrants have also made national headlines, including the murders of Rachel Morin, Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray.
Kamala Harris is an absolute failure with issues, policies, and actions. She is on the unpopular side of the table on nearly everything from the border crisis to men in women’s sports to the economy. It’s truly unfortunate that attacks against her lately have centered on her racial flip-flopping. It’s not an effective strategy to wonder whether she’s Indian or Black because, as nearly every American knows, she can be both. It doesn’t move the needle to highlight how she picks one or the other depending on the circumstance. It WILL move the needle to tell people how abysmal she has been as a politician and how huge of a mistake it would be to make her president. With that said, here’s the report from Daily Caller…
(DCNF)—Pollster Frank Luntz said that former President Donald Trump could inflict major political damage on Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign with one short question.
Trump can defeat Harris at the ballot box if he asks voters “can you name one thing she accomplished as Vice President?,” Luntz told FOX 11 Los Angeles’ Elex Michaelson during an appearance on “The Issue Is Show,” which aired Friday. Focusing on Harris’ record, rather than launching personal attacks, will be an effective strategy for beating her in November, he said.
Donald Trump can defeat Kamala Harris by asking voters this 10-word question: https://t.co/mynL78Uv2r
— Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) August 3, 2024
“People don’t like it when politicians attack each other. Accountability? Yes,” Luntz said. “Attacks? No.”
Michaelson then asked what “word choice” Trump should use when talking about Harris.
“Can you name one thing she did as vice president? And leave it at that,” Luntz responded. “Can you name one thing she accomplished as vice president? Ten words. He’s incapable, and all these people are gonna watch this, all these Trump voters are gonna say, ‘You’re so mean, and you’re so partisan and you don’t like him so you’re criticizing him.’ Just once, can he answer a question in ten words? Or answer with ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Just once, can he answer anything without delivering an attack?”
Harris promoted several signature administration initiatives during her time as vice president, including costly green school bus and broadband programs that have struggled to gain much traction to date.
“And it’s legitimate criticism. She was number two in this country, she was given the responsibility for immigration,” Luntz continued. “Now, I’m going to upset the other side. How’s our immigration working out?”
Biden tasked Harris with addressing the root causes of immigration to the U.S., which she once said included a “lack of climate adaptation.” The Biden-Harris administration presided over at least 6.7 million illegal migrant encounters at America’s southern border alone, according to the House Committees on Homeland Security and Oversight and Accountability.
“Well, her folks would say she was put in charge of investigating the root causes of immigration,” Michaelson responded.
“And what did she do there?” Luntz asked. “What did she do there? How successful has she been? What else did Joe Biden task her to do? In our lifetime, we’ve seen Dick Cheney, who was arguably as powerful as the president. A vice president, and Joe Biden when he was vice president, had specific responsibilities under the Obama administration. She did nothing.”
Polling has tightened significantly after President Joe Biden quit the race and threw his support behind Harris in July. Harris, who has yet to partake in an unscripted long-form interview since becoming the de facto Democratic nominee, trails Trump by about 1% in the RealClearPolitics polling average, compared to the three point average lead Trump had over Biden before the latter stepped aside.

]]>Luntz has always struck me as a pretend statistician whose real role is to shill for whatever the Republican side of the Uniparty needs voters to support. He peddles Deep State lies to ordinary Americans as truth. He wears a bad toupee, eats his feelings, and is more believable as Chris Farley’s “man in a van down by the river” than House speaker McCarthy’s former landlord. Still, as unexceptional as Luntz is at polling, he’s the go-to guy for Club D.C. when the ruling class needs to brainwash normal people. Of course our unpopular policies are popular; Frank Luntz says they are, and he is Science…and Mathematics! Cringe.
I still remember watching Luntz sitting in the front row of Stephen Colbert’s 2016 Election Night show solemnly insisting through most of the evening that Donald Trump had no chance of winning. The whole spectacle was intended to be a celebratory yuk-fest for leftists to pat themselves on the backs for being so righteous and brilliant while sticking it to Trump voters and laughing at their misery. Why a supposedly Republican-leaning pollster would have found enjoyment sitting through a Hillary Clinton coronation reveling in Republican grief is beyond me — unless these Republican-ishy squishes are perhaps Uniparty agents and conservative in name only! Could it be?
Anyway, President Trump was winning one battleground state after the next (this was before full-on mail-in-ballot election-rigging), Colbert’s pluck had turned to tears, and the polling man from the van down by the river was still insisting that Hillary Clinton was certain to win. He looked like some mad fool standing on the top deck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic wondering why anyone would abandon ship for such a tiny leak. It’s just a little bit of ice, Luntz kept insisting. What’s the big deal?
Colbert didn’t mean for the night to be funny, but it was downright hilarious. It was the closest thing to the kind of genius the Monty Python boys regularly created back in the days before Europe and America declared war on free speech. Wimpy Stephen’s confident tough-guy shtick melted before the cameras. Democrat voters in the live studio audience gnashed their teeth, grimaced, and cried. And there sat ol’ Frank, still shaking his head and predicting Clinton victory. Sheesh, when the Deep State says the fix is in, paid propagandists expect their compromised opinions to look like sophisticated punditry!
So when the guy who resembles a street vendor selling Chicago Red Hots tells the world that Donald Trump can win again, we’re less interested in his “expert” opinion than the reason he has been paid to announce his opinion. In this case, it appears that Sloppy Frank has been sent out to sound the alarm that Trump’s threat to the swamp is real and will require even more aggressive countermeasures than the banana republic indictments that the Department of (in)Justice has already deployed. As The Sydney Morning Herald warns apocalyptically, “Leading US pollster Frank Luntz says Donald Trump can re-win the presidency and that if that happens, US democracy could collapse.”
To make sure that the globe’s über-elite take action before the 2024 presidential election becomes a 2016 sequel, Less-than-Frank went into screechy-sweaty-panic-mode during the Margaret Thatcher conference at the Center for Policy Studies in London. In an interview with Australia’s newspaper of record, Luntz hyperventilated, “It’s now conceivable that in 2024 the country comes apart.” Ooh, but his opinion must represent Science!, so he added numbers: “We have a 15-percent likelihood of that destroying American democracy depending on what happens.” Yikes, at least we have an 85% chance of saving democracy! — whatever that is.
“NATO is in jeopardy,” Luntz continued. “Ukraine will no longer receive American support. Our legal system will be in jeopardy — I don’t want to contemplate it.” Don’t worry, Frank. The D.C. Deep State won’t ever give up on forever-wars. As for our legal system being in jeopardy — hahahahaha — that ship sailed long ago once the American people could see with their own eyes the federal government’s rampant political persecution and the reality of two-tiered “justice” under a one-party State. Can’t put the toothpaste back into that depleted tube.
Needless to say, Luntz’s 180 degree flip-flop from his own “expert” opinion of just last year, when he confidently predicted that Trump is toast, came off more like a barely-disguised call to arms begging for more foreign election interference, left-wing shock troop mobilization, and World Economic Forum funding. For the global “elites,” taking down Trump is even more vital than saving Ukraine. To beat back Russia, we must first beat back the guy we framed as a Russian agent! Globalists, Antifa terrorists, warmongers, and child-groomers, for the sake of One World Government, unite! It is as if Luntz went to London to rally the English-speaking peoples against their Trumpian foe — except Luntz comes off, at best, as Shakespeare’s fat, vain Falstaff and certainly nothing like King Henry V!
It is always bewildering to watch Luntz and his ilk claim that any Trump election victory will mean the end of “democracy.” Are democratic elections self-defeating? Should we pre-emptively end “democracy” in order to save it from the people who might inadvertently destroy it? Quick, someone fetch a dictator who would be willing to rule over Americans until they accept Luntz’s officially sanctioned “truths.” As he says, “that’s how voters vote correctly.” Americans will be granted the privilege of “representation” in government only if they choose candidates first vetted and approved by the Deep State! Wait, what? Newspeak doublethink is tough.
If Luntz were honest, he would admit that it is not Trump who poses a threat to America’s system of government, but rather all the Deep State saboteurs, foreign interlopers, and Antifa domestic terrorists who refuse to let ordinary Americans have their say.
It was the Intelligence Community and (in)Justice Department, after all, that conspired with Hillary Clinton’s campaign to polarize an already divided nation with fraudulent claims that Donald Trump was neck-deep in international espionage as a Russian spy. It was Democrat liars such as Adam Schiff who blamed Hillary’s election loss on Russian bots. It was RINO liars such as Mitt Romney who inexplicably blamed Joe Biden’s Ukraine bribery scandals on President Trump. It was Antifa and Black Lives Matter that laid siege to the White House and burned down cities across the country. It was the politicized American intelligence agencies and their press corps marionettes that covered up Biden family corruption. It was a cabal of election manipulators who induced fear over COVID to implement a mail-in ballot (s)election with scant security. It was a bloc of social media companies that censored Americans from reporting on 2020 election fraud. It was congressional Robespierres such as Liz Cheney who called for patriotic J6 election protesters to be treated as “insurrectionists” and “terrorists.” It is Merrick Garland’s DOJ faction that has hunted down and imprisoned Trump-supporters. It is the Biden junta that now seeks to lock up President Trump for life.
Luntz might not care who set the country on fire, but the rest of America knows.
