The National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC), set to open at the University of Leeds in northern England and funded by U.K. Research and Innovation (UKRI) will explore subtle methods to promote “meat alternatives.”

NAPIC, which secured 23 million British pounds ($30.2 million) in funding from multinational corporations and other businesses eager to enter the insect protein industry, will focus on understanding consumer behavior and attitudes toward alternative proteins, including insect-based foods, plant-based meats and lab-grown proteins. NAPIC seeks to position these products in supermarkets and what marketing tactics might persuade shoppers to try them.

“We know that consumers won’t buy food that they don’t find appealing or that’s more expensive than their traditional choices,” said Louise Dye from the Institute for Sustainable Food (ISF) at the University of Sheffield. “We also have to be sure that any new alternative proteins are safe and healthy.”

Nudging techniques that subtly encourage people to make specific choices without restricting their freedom have been successfully used in public health. Now, researchers hope to use similar tactics to promote a shift away from animal-based proteins, which the ISF accounts for over 90 percent of protein purchased in U.K. supermarkets.

UKRI Deputy Executive Chair of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council Guy Poppy suggested that understanding the cultural and psychological barriers will help them “design strategies” to “normalize insect proteins and make them more palatable to a wider audience.”

Possible nudging strategies include changing the insect-based foods labeling and marketing strategy, integrating them into familiar dishes, or positioning them next to popular products on store shelves. The center may also experiment with offering small portions in supermarkets, using eye-catching packaging, or promoting the environmental benefits of these alternative proteins.

Public information campaigns and educational programs are also on the table. Researchers will use the consumers’ growing environmental consciousness by highlighting the sustainability of insect-based foods and other meat alternatives.

Moreover, NAPIC will focus on the benefits of alternative proteins to overcome concerns about taste, texture and price. For instance, cricket protein might be introduced as an ingredient in familiar foods like cookies with reduced fat and sugar content.

U.K. gov’t trying to brainwash the public that eating bugs could reduce carbon emissions

The use of nudging techniques aligns with the U.K. government’s broader strategy to cut “carbon emissions” from agriculture by promoting alternative proteins.

In January 2023, the European Commission (EC) approved the use of house crickets (Acheta domesticus) in powdered form as an ingredient for food items like pizzas, pasta-based products, nuts and oilseeds, snacks and sauces, meat preparations and soups, multigrain bread and rolls, crackers and breadsticks, cereal bars, dry premixes for baked products, biscuits and processed potato products, legume- and vegetable-based dishes, whey powder, maize flour-based snacks, beer-like beverages and chocolate confectionery.

Aside from this, the EU’s food regulator also approved the powder production process, which begins with a 24-hour fasting period for the crickets. The insects are then frozen, washed and thermally processed. The resulting product is then processed again to remove oils and then transformed into dried-up powder.

Whenever scientific dictatorship is envisioned by fiction writers the end result is usually very similar to already existing socialist regimes.  Soviet doctrine and the ideals of the Third Reich were inspired by Karl Marx; meaning, both regimes were built on far-left philosophies.  Progressives today often maliciously associate Nazis with conservative thought, but both Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini were avid followers of Marx.  As Hitler noted on January 27, 1934, in an interview with Hanns Johst in Frankforter Volksblatt:

“National Socialism derives from each of the two camps the pure idea that characterizes it, national resolution from bourgeois tradition; vital, creative socialism from the teachings of Marxism. Volksgemeinschaft: that means a community of all productive labor, that means the oneness of all vital interests, that means overcoming bourgeois privatism and the unionized, mechanically organized masses, that means unconditionally equating the individual fate and the nation, the individual and the Volk…”

Hitler presented himself as a Christian patriot to win over the German public as they faced economic and moral degradation during the unchecked liberalism of the 1920s, but in private he was not a fan of the religion.  Hitler is noted by Albert Speer as saying:

“You see, it’s been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn’t we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion [Islam] too would have been more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?”

In fact, finding and defining a “conservative” totalitarian regime is almost impossible in modern times.  Without the defense of free markets, individual liberty, meritocracy and a healthy respect for constitutional fairness one cannot call himself conservative.  The Nazis were no more conservative than Neo-Conservatives are conservative, they are simply leftists that pursue ultimate power using nationalism as a proxy instead of pure globalism.

How the “right wing” was culturally associated with authoritarianism is all thanks to modern Hollywood.  The same people that write endless tales of Nazi horror have long ignored the even greater genocides of communism in the Soviet Union, China and elsewhere.  And, whenever a modern dictatorship is portrayed in art or film it is usually tied somehow to a conservative (and often Christian) takeover of society.

This brings us to a little film called V For Vendetta released in 2006, and it brings us to the tyranny now accelerating in the UK.

V For Vendetta is based on the graphic novel by the same name written by Alan Moore (picture below), a talented British scribe but also known by many in the comics industry as a leftist and communist.  Moore’s take on an Orwellian government dominating Britain was decidedly anti-conservative, to no one’s surprise.

The film, directed by the Wachowski Brothers (creators of The Matrix and now both claiming to be “trans women” pictured below), took the anti-conservative view from the comic to even greater extremes with an underlying LGBT propaganda message.  V depicts a British government gripped by authoritarian Christian zealots bent on rounding up and exterminating gay people (and anyone else they deem unfit).  They use an engineered pandemic crisis to frighten the English population and seize power (sound familiar?), establishing a relentless police state run by sexual degenerates that saturates media with disinformation to keep the public docile.

Another film with a similar theme is Children Of Men (release the same year as V for Vendetta), which uses the UK as a backdrop to showcase the steady decline of humanity after a pandemic ends our ability to have children.  The authoritarian government in that tale is dominated by white Brits who round up migrants and place them in concentration camps, and of course a migrant woman ends up being the key to solving the question of infertility.

While most people can relate to the struggle against totalitarianism, the intolerable fallacy being perpetuated is that when the jackboots finally march on the western world they will do so in the name of conservative values and religion.  Well, the dystopian nightmare has arrived in the UK, and the truth is quite the opposite.

The British public is being culturally diminished through forced mass immigration to which the government offers no redress.  UK authorities are far-left in their ideology and promote globalism as the system which Brits must accept without question.  And, those same establishment elites have joined with third-world migrants and Islamic militants to terrorize the population into submission.

Today, UK police are out in force threatening to arrest anyone remotely critical of open immigration or UK migrant policies.  They have also doubled down on the two-tier policing that caused the patriot protests and riots to begin with.  These are not scenes from V For Vendetta, these are scenes from the UK this week:

UK authorities have now made multiples arrests dealing with social media posts and opinions as well as arresting people who were merely spectators at various protests.  They are also searching for ways to take down their political opponents, with leftist politicians using MI6 to investigate Nigel Farage for “financial ties” to Tommy Robinson and Russia.  It’s expected that adjacent leftist governments around the world will be following the UK’s example.

Is the far-left really oblivious to their own natural tendencies towards tyranny?  Or, is all the media depicting a conservative run dystopia really a form of gaslighting?  A means to demonize the very people the elites have long sought to erase from history?

When rebellion against this trend explodes (and it will), many great speeches on liberty similar to those spoken in so many pieces of predictive entertainment will not be spoken by leftists and they won’t apply to leftists.  Leftists are not the freedom fighters they imagine themselves to be.  They are, in fact, the villains of the story.

The result, according to the FT, is “momentous for Britain and will resonate around the world” because at a time when right-wing populists are advancing in many countries, political power in the UK has swung back to a liberal, internationalist, centre-left party.

But Labour’s victory was projected to be delivered on a smaller share of the vote than the 40% secured by leftwing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in his 2017 general election defeat — suggesting the public remains sceptical.

Labour’s shadow foreign secretary David Lammy warned: “If we do not deliver for working people, we will be out and nationalists will be on our tails.” He added: “That’s the lesson we have seen around the world.” Meanwhile, Nigel Farage’s Reform UK was projected to do better than expected with 13 seats, a result that would be a big breakthrough for his right-wing populist party.

The first two constituencies to report results on Thursday evening, both in the north of England, showed Labour wins with Reform in second place.

Labour’s victory is a personal triumph for Starmer, who took over the party’s leadership in 2020 after the party’s worst election defeat in almost a century. His projected victory is similar in scale to Sir Tony Blair’s 1997 Labour landslide.

That said, while the Ipsos exit poll is usually a reliable predictor of overall results, the final result may still differ. Vote counts from individual constituencies will trickle in through the night, with Labour, if the polls are correct, likely to have a clear majority by 5am.

According to the exit survey, the centrist Liberal Democrats was on course to win 61 seats, close to the 62-seat record set by the party in 2005. The Lib Dems are forecast to make big gains in the Tory “blue wall” of rich constituencies in the south of England. The Scottish National party was set to come behind Labour in Scotland with just 10 seats, according to the exit poll, putting a serious dent in the party’s dream of securing independence.

The survey exposed the overwhelming sentiment reported by candidates from all parties that Britain wanted “change”, with many senior Tories admitting during the campaign that the party looked exhausted. The UK has been under Conservative rule for 14 years, during which time there have been five prime ministers, with a near catastrophic banking and bond market crisis erupting during the brief reign of Liz Truss. The period was marked by economic austerity, Brexit, the coronavirus pandemic and an energy price shock.

Former Tory minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg said it was “clearly a terrible night” and added that the Conservatives had taken votes for granted.

Starmer is set to become only the seventh Labour prime minister in the party’s history, and his victory is the first since 2005 for the center-left party. Labour last ousted the Tories from power in 1997, when Tony Blair became prime minister in a crushing victory over John Major’s Tories. He will move into 10 Downing Street on Friday and immediately form his cabinet, with an instruction to ministers to quickly deliver policies to jolt Britain out of its low-growth torpor.

The exit poll indicated that Starmer’s avowedly pro-growth, pro-business agenda has paid off, as Labour bucked international political trends. Far-right parties have performed strongly in recent elections for the European and French parliaments, while in the US, Donald Trump is leading in polls for the presidential race.

Labour’s chancellor-in-waiting Rachel Reeves has said she hopes investors will now see the UK as a “safe haven” although once the UK unleashes the next spending spree to fund all the various welfare projects, we fully expect another quick funding crisis and even more QE.

Starmer has promised to work with business to stimulate growth, with an agenda that includes planning reform and state investment in green technology. Labour will also pursue a traditional agenda of reforms to worker rights.

As for outgoing PM Sunak, the result is a personal disaster. He chose to hold an early election on July 4 — against the advice of his campaign chief Isaac Levido — and ran an error-strewn six-week attempt to turn around his party’s fortunes.

The party’s projected total of 131 seats is lower than the party’s worst-ever result of 156 in 1906. Starmer’s expected seat haul is close to the 418 seats won by Tony Blair in his 1997 landslide victory.

A number of senior Tory figures are expected to lose their seats on a night of devastation, reducing the cast list of potential contenders for the party leadership if, as expected, Sunak stands down. Among the cabinet ministers deemed to be at risk by the exit poll are Penny Mordaunt, Jeremy Hunt, James Cleverly, Kemi Badenoch and Grant Shapps, with results due in their seats in the early hours.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives encountered a mixed outcome in Friday’s elections, losing two crucial parliamentary seats but managing to retain Boris Johnson’s former constituency, dealing a setback to the opposition Labour Party.

The narrow victory in Johnson’s seat provided some respite for Sunak, who now aims to address the high inflation and cost-of-living crisis to narrow Labour’s significant lead in the polls before the upcoming national election expected next year.

Sunak, quick to celebrate the win, emphasized that the national election was far from a “done deal.” Speaking to reporters in a local cafe, he expressed determination to adhere to the plan and deliver for the people.

However, the challenge ahead became apparent with the loss of the once-safe Conservative seat of Selby and Ainsty in northeast England. Labour managed to overturn the largest Conservative majority in a by-election since World War Two, underscoring the demand for change.

Despite this setback, Sunak’s Conservatives narrowly retained the seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip near central London, avoiding the unwanted distinction of becoming the first British leader to lose three by-elections on a single day in over 50 years.

Conservative former minister David Jones stressed the need for economic policies to rebuild support in traditionally strong areas, believing that there is enough time, up to 18 months until the election, to achieve this.

Sunak, a former finance minister and investment banker, has focused on using his technocratic leadership to restore the party’s credibility after last year’s scandals forced Johnson to resign, followed by Liz Truss’s short-lived tenure as the successor.

A series of challenges, including high inflation, economic stagnation, rising mortgage rates, industrial unrest, and lengthy waiting times in the state-run health service, have left the Conservatives prepared for the possibility of losing all three seats.

National opinion polls indicate that Sunak’s Conservatives are trailing Labour by around 20 points, making it difficult for the governing party to secure a fifth consecutive national election victory. However, Labour’s loss in Uxbridge indicates its struggle to secure a clear parliamentary majority.

Renowned pollster John Curtice suggests that a hung parliament is the most likely outcome of a national vote and that Keir Starmer might face more internal party debate about his cautious approach to public finances and policy decisions.

The Uxbridge by-election was triggered by Johnson’s surprise decision to quit parliament after facing accusations of making misleading statements about parties held in Downing Street during the pandemic.

In the election results, the opposition to the extension of London’s ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) to suburban areas, like Uxbridge, proved beneficial for the Conservatives. They won the Uxbridge seat and hope it will support their candidate in the upcoming London mayoral election.

Overall, the results revealed the Conservatives’ vulnerabilities in rural and traditional strongholds, with losses in Selby and Ainsty in Yorkshire and Somerton and Frome in southwest England, respectively.

While Labour’s loss in Uxbridge indicates the potential fragility of their lead in the polls, the Conservatives continue to face challenges in retaining voters in southern regions.

The disease in question, known as Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), reportedly kills between 10 to 40 percent of infected people and has been classified as a supposed major threat to public health by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO also pointed out that CCHF only kills around 500 people every year and is mainly transmitted to people who come into close contact with ticks and infected livestock.

But human-to-human transmission of CCHF does occur, and up to three billion people are now reportedly “at risk” as the disease has recently killed people in Namibia in Southern Africa and in Middle Eastern and South Asian nations like Iraq and Pakistan. New cases have also been spotted in the Balkans, and the disease is allegedly making its way through the rest of Europe.

Most human cases in the current outbreak have occurred in people involved in the livestock industry, such as agricultural workers, slaughterhouse workers and veterinarians. Human-to-human transmission can occur from close contact via bodily fluids like blood. There is no approved vaccine for CCHF.

Deadly virus guaranteed to defeat all lockdown measures

In a statement before the British Parliament’s Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, an expert on infectious diseases and head of the University of Cambridge’s Department of Veterinary Medicine, James Woods, warned that CCHF will likely defeat all lockdown measures. “It’s a kind of ‘when’ rather than ‘if,’ I think in all likelihood,” he said, referring to the possibility of people getting infected even during lockdowns. “There is a risk of spread given the way that disease is emerging.”

Woods emphasized how implementing a lockdown would not be a suitable response to CCHF, noting how the way it spreads is very much unlike COVID-19, which relies on respiratory transmission.

“So even say – I don’t want to call them extreme lockdown enthusiasts – but someone who thinks that these measures are very important to impose straightaway, I don’t think it would be appropriate as it’s not right for this form of infection,” he said.

Instead of implementing a lockdown, Woods suggested a variety of other precautionary measures that people in the U.K. can take, such as wearing long clothing when traveling near areas where ticks are prevalent, such as tall grasslands. Furthermore, Woods suggested avoiding coming into contact with animals like sheep and goats, whose ticks can carry CCHF and are therefore at particularly high risk of infection.

“The American Journal” host Harrison Smith of InfoWars noted that the recent fearmongering about another lockdown due to the spread of CCHF has fueled speculation that this new virus is being used as a means to cover up the number of people dying due to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

“Could this be them preparing a new false flag virus to blame all of the deaths since the increase of deaths is becoming undeniable and the vaccine is killing everybody?” he commented. “Maybe they need a new disease to blame it all on.”

They simply trust our leaders when they tell us that we will never have to be directly involved in a conflict with Russia, but meanwhile those same leaders continue to push us ever closer to such a scenario.

Yesterday, we learned that the UK has now delivered long-range “Storm Shadow” cruise missiles to Ukraine…

The United Kingdom has delivered multiple “Storm Shadow” cruise missiles to Ukraine, giving the nation a new long-range strike capability in advance of a highly anticipated counteroffensive against Russian forces, multiple senior Western officials told CNN.

UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, calling the donation Ukraine’s “best chance to defend themselves against Russia’s continued brutality,” confirmed the transaction on Thursday after CNN exclusively reported the deal.

These missiles do not have enough range to get to Moscow, but they do have the potential to hit strategic targets very deep inside Russian territory.

According to CNN, the UK government “has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory”…

The Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities, jointly developed by the UK and France, which is typically launched from the air. With a firing range in excess of 250km, or 155 miles, it is just short of the 185-mile range capability of the US-made surface-to-surface Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, that Ukraine has long asked for.

Critically, the Storm Shadow has the range to strike deep into Russian-held territory in Eastern Ukraine. A Western official told CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not inside Russia. UK officials have made frequent public statements identifying Crimea as Ukrainian sovereign territory, describing it as “illegally annexed.”

Of course the Ukrainians consider Crimea to be their “sovereign territory”, and the Russians also consider Crimea to be their “sovereign territory”.

And many experts are already anticipating that the Ukrainians will use these new missiles to strike Russia’s Black Sea fleet which is stationed in Crimea.  Here is just one example…

Ben Hodges, a former U.S. Army Europe Commanding General, tweeted: “Well done UK!”

He added: “This will give Ukraine capability to make Crimea untenable for Russian forces,” and would force a Russian rethink of where to position its Black Sea fleet.

If the Ukrainians start raining down cruise missiles on the naval base in Sevastopol, that might be enough to provoke Russia into using tactical nuclear weapons against Ukrainian targets.

And if the Russians start using their tactical nukes, the Biden administration has already strongly hinted that we are likely to use ours against Russian military assets.

Once we get to that stage, there will be no turning back.

For now, the Ukrainians continue to insist that they are on the verge of launching a very powerful “counteroffensive” which will turn the tide of the war…

Zelenskyy said in an interview broadcast Thursday by the BBC that it would be “unacceptable” to launch the assault now because too many lives would be lost.

“With (what we have) we can go forward and be successful,” Zelenskyy said in the interview, according to the BBC. “But we’d lose a lot of people. I think that’s unacceptable.”

Has the Ukrainian government been able to scrape together enough foreign mercenaries to make a new “counteroffensive” possible?

I am skeptical, but the weeks ahead will show us whether they are bluffing or not.

Meanwhile, it appears that we could be on the verge of witnessing a major conflict erupt in the Middle East.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Islamic Jihad has fired more than 800 rockets into Israel, and the Israeli military has conducted more than 190 airstrikes in Gaza in response…

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad had fired 803 rockets into Israel between Wednesday morning and 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, and the IDF had undertaken 191 airstrikes in Gaza in the same timeframe.

The IDF killed Islamic Jihad rocket commander Ali Ghali around 1:00 a.m. early Thursday, and his deputy, Ahmed Abu Daka, around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

This is a huge test for the Netanyahu government.

If the IDF response to these attacks is deemed too weak, Netanyahu will lose a lot of public support.

But if the IDF response is too strong, a major regional war could potentially be sparked.

At this moment, the Israelis are promising that “the campaign will continue as long as necessary”…

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant stated that “the campaign will continue as long as necessary,” after a sitatuation assessment following the rocket strike on Rehovot that killed one man and wounded 10 people.

They further instructed the security forces to “continue to exact a heavy price from the Islamic Jihad for its aggression against the citizens of Israel,” the Prime Minister’s office announced.

Let us hope that a ceasefire can be brokered quickly.

Because if the Israelis send troops into Gaza, everything will change.

Before I end this article, there is one more thing that I wanted to mention.

As we draw closer to a war with China, some leaders in Washington are suggesting that we should actually blow up the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company after an invasion happens in order to keep it from falling into Chinese hands…

Taiwan’s defense minister in statements early this week pushed back against the idea of the US bombing the island’s semiconductor factories in the event of a Chinese invasion.

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) recently said the US should “make it very clear to the Chinese that if you invade Taiwan, we’re going to blow up TSMC,” referring to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, which produces the majority of the world’s advanced semiconductors.

When asked about Moutlon’s comments, Taiwanese Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said the military wouldn’t let that happen.

This just shows how dramatically our relationship with China has deteriorated.

At one time, it would have been unthinkable for a member of Congress to say such a thing.

But now many of our politicians are openly acknowledging that war with China is coming sooner or later.

So let me try to summarize what we are facing.

We are already involved in a proxy war with Russia which could soon turn into a shooting war, a major regional conflict in the Middle East could erupt at any moment, and our politicians are publicly talking about a coming war with China.

Yeah, I think that we are definitely in a time of “wars and rumors of wars”, but most of us in the western world are still completely and utterly clueless.

Most people that live in the western world still believe that our leaders are competent and that they have everything under control. Unfortunately, by the time they realize the truth it will be far too late to reverse course.

We can strive for cleaner air and water without embracing the manufactured doomsday scenario that claims climate change catastrophe is 10 years away. The Climate Change Cultists — also known as Imperial College of London scientists — want us to stop eating beef. They want a 50% reduction in beef and lamb consumption by 2029 and a complete ban on these meats after their initial dystopian goals are achieved.

Lest we forget, these are the scientists who said Covid would kill 40 million people in 2020, a claim that was used as the primary evidence for governments to commit lockdowns, face mask mandates, social distancing rules, and the rapid development of Covid-19 “vaccines.” Now they want us to believe we’re all going to die soon if we don’t stop eating freeze-dried ribeyes.

CONTROLLED DEMOLITION: All UK Airports to Close in Next 10 Years; Beef and Lamb Banned to Stop “Climate Change”

In order to meet its 2050 zero emissions climate goals, the United Kingdom must eventually shut down all of its airports; ban all of its residents from eating beef and lamb; and put an end to all new construction everywhere.

This is the recommendation of scientists from the University of Oxford and Imperial College London (ICL), who fear that allowing humans to live normal lives for too much longer will lead to the downfall of the planet as it melts into a puddle of warming.

Between 2020 and 2029, every last airport in the UK, excluding Heathrow in London and the two major airports in Glasgow and Belfast, will need to close its doors. Then, between 2030 and 2049, Heathrow, Glasgow, and Belfast will need to be shuttered as well – meaning no more air travel.

All of this is necessary in order for the UK to obey the dictates of the Climate Change Act, which prohibits all activities that create any kind of “emissions.” Since just about every action emits something, the climate cultists are essentially calling for the mass genocide of humanity as a final solution to climate change.

UK globalists want to speed up net zero targets from 2050 to 2035

Just to be sure that humans are no longer allowed to do anything except die after the year 2050, the Oxford and ICL scientists also want UK legislators to prohibit all new construction, including of housing and industrial facilities.

“The underlying point is that any asset which uses carbon will have essentially zero value in 2050,” the report states about how the new “green” economy will work once most human activity is forced to stop.

“This in turn may encourage greater use in the run up to 2050 – for example, putting up new buildings at a much faster rate for the next 30 years, knowing that construction must then halt.”

Interestingly, all of these recommendations were made in November 2019 just as the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) was first appearing in communist China. In the years following, all sorts of “pandemic” restrictions coupled with an ongoing “green” push have advanced the UK’s 2050 agenda considerably.

Entitled “Absolute Zero,” the report was compiled via a collaboration of scientists not just from Oxford and ICL but also from the University of Cambridge, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Bath.

The UK is actually legally bound by the net zero emissions imposed upon it by the globalists via the Climate Change Act, which means the recommendations made in the report will likely have to be implemented in order for the country not to breach its prescribed climate guidelines.

There is also a very strong possibility that the 2050 goals will be sped up by 15 years to occur by a 2035 deadline instead. The UK government enshrined into law back in April 2021 a new target that leaves just 12 years until all of these climate goals have to be met – including the airport closures.

“In addition to reducing our energy demand, delivering zero emissions with today’s technologies requires the phasing out of flying, shipping, lamb and beef, blast-furnace steel and cement,” the report further states.

“There are two key implications for how we live our lives: first, buildings will become much more expensive because the restrictions on building which generate substantial scarcities; second, transport will become much more expensive because the limits on air travel will generate excess demand for other forms of transport.”

Johnson to Address Nation After Reports He Will Resign

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will address the nation on Thursday, Downing Street confirmed, amid reports he will resign.

It comes as more than 53 government ministers and ministerial aides quit over Johnson’s handling of sexual misconduct allegations against a former deputy chief whip.

A Downing Street spokesman said Johnson “will make a statement to the country today.”

According to the BBC, citing an unnamed source from Johnson’s office, Johnson has agreed to stand down.

In a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday morning, Chancellor of the Exchequer Nadhim Zahawi said he, alongside other ministers, had “made clear” to Johnson in private on Wednesday that “he should leave with dignity.”

“I am heartbroken that he hasn’t listened and that he is now undermining the incredible achievements of the government at this late hour,” Zahawi’s statement read.

Zahawi said no one would forget “getting Brexit done,” keeping Jeremy Corbyn out of government, the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its support for Ukraine, but “the country deserves a government that is not only stable, but which acts with integrity.”

“Prime Minister, you know in your heart what the right thing to do is, and go now,” the letter concluded.

New Education Secretary Resigns

By Thursday morning, at least 53 Conservative MPs had resigned from their government roles, including newly appointed Education Secretary Michelle Donelan.

Donelan was appointed on Wednesday to replace Zahawi as he had been appointed chancellor of the exchequer.

It followed the shock resignations of Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak on Tuesday evening, which started the snowballing of resignations.

By Thursday morning, five Cabinet ministers has resigned, including Javid, Sunak, Donelan, Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis, and Wales Secretary Simon Hart.

Additionally, 22 ministers, 21 parliamentary private secretaries, four trade envoys have resigned, and Conservative Party vice-chair Bim Afolami.

The mass-resignation was triggered on Tuesday after Johnson admitted that it was a “mistake” to keep former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher in government roles despite sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Downing Street stated last week that Johnson wasn’t aware of any formal complaints against Pincher, only to admit this week that the prime minister was told about an investigation and had forgotten about it.

Reading a personal statement on his resignation in Parliament on Wednesday, Javid said “enough is enough.”

He also said ministers who didn’t resign “will have their own reasons,” but “it is a choice. … Not doing something is an active decision.”

On Thursday morning, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace wrote on Twitter: “A number of us have an obligation to keep this country safe,no matter who is PM. The Party has a mechanism to change leaders and that is the mechanism which I advise colleagues to use. In the meantime, the public would not forgive us if we left these Offices of State empty.”
