Groceries – American Conservative Movement https://americanconservativemovement.com American exceptionalism isn't dead. It just needs to be embraced. No, everything is not just fine.

Last week, a TikTok video about rising grocery prices at Walmart quickly garnered more than a million views.  The person that made the video found a grocery order that he had placed two years ago, and he decided to hit the “Reorder All” button to see what that same order would cost today…

A recent TikTok video has gone viral, showing a user’s surprising experience with Walmart’s grocery prices. The user explained in his video that he tried to use the “Reorder All” button for an order he placed two years ago, which originally cost $126.67. To his shock, the same order would now cost $414.39.

I was quite stunned by this video.

Many of the things that I regularly purchase at the grocery store have doubled or more than doubled in price, but in this case the total cost of the grocery order had more than tripled

The TikTok (@sewerlidd) explained that the original $126.16 purchase was for a month’s worth of groceries, which included 53 items.

“A whole month of groceries just for me,” he said in the video.

The total was updated to $414.39, almost quadrupling.

“I feel like I’m going to be sick,” he said.

Needless to say, this video has generated a ton of discussion online.

When Walmart was asked about this, they responded by saying that the primary reason there was such a difference is because the person that made the video was attempting to order “discontinued items”

Walmart representatives have responded, stating that the claims in the video are not accurate. According to them, the discrepancies in prices are due to discontinued items rather than actual inflation.

But this explanation certainly did not satisfy everyone.

Another person hit the “Reorder All” button on an old order, and that order went from $180 back then to $430 today

Viewers expressed both shock and frustration in the comments.

“Now I feel a little less gaslit about grocery prices because it has gone crazy, and it’s not just me!” wrote one person.

“Walmart, can you explain yourself, please,” added another.

A fellow shopper said they used to spend $180 for two weeks’ worth of groceries and are now spending over $430 for the same amount.

If you think that the price of groceries is not a problem, I have a challenge for you.

Fill up a grocery cart all the way to the very top with items that you typically eat, and try to keep the final bill under 300 dollars.

If you are smart, you can do it, but it won’t be easy.

In the old days, you could buy a used vehicle for 300 dollars. Now, many people burn through more than 300 dollars in just one trip to the grocery store.

This is just one of the reasons why inflation has become such a huge political issue.

According to Gallup, inflation was not really considered to be an important issue at all prior to 2022…

For the third year in a row, the percentage of Americans naming inflation or the high cost of living as the most important financial problem facing their family has reached a new high. The 41% naming the issue this year is up slightly from 35% a year ago and 32% in 2022. Before 2022, the highest percentage mentioning inflation was 18% in 2008. Inflation has been named by less than 10% in most other readings since the question was first asked in 2005.

The last three years have been an inflationary nightmare, and no matter how much our leaders try to deny it, a lot more inflation is on the way.

Things are particularly bad in our major cities.  In fact, it is being reported that Manhattan is the most expensive place to live in the United States by a wide margin

The New York borough of Manhattan is the most expensive place to live in the U.S. — and the cost of living in the No. 2 place isn’t even close.

The cost of living in Manhattan is more than twice the national average. The second- and third-most expensive places are Honolulu and San Jose, California, but in comparison, they are much more affordable. Manhattan is 24% more expensive than Honolulu and 30% more expensive than San Jose.

It isn’t a big mystery why this is the case.

When our leaders pumped trillions upon trillions of dollars into the system, the financial markets benefitted greatly.

So Manhattan is swimming in cash, and prices there have gone into the stratosphere.

Many of us relentlessly warned about what would happen when our leaders flooded the system with cash, and now we are facing economic distortions that are extremely painful.

For most Americans, prices have been rising much faster than their paychecks.

As a result, our national standard of living has been steadily declining.

And now we have entered a time when it appears that economic conditions are really slowing down.

For example, it is being reported that Ford is preparing for yet another round of layoffs

Ford Motor is preparing for a new round of layoffs for its salaried workers in the United States, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The company in March last year announced plans to reduce structural costs of up to $3 billion at its gas-powered vehicle unit. In August, Ford said it would cut a total of 3,000 salaried and contract jobs, mostly in North America and India.

Over the past several years, our politicians in Washington have borrowed and spent trillions upon trillions of dollars, and the “experts” at the Federal Reserve have pumped trillions upon trillions of dollars into the financial system.

All that did was buy us a little more time.

All that did was delay the inevitable.

Now we are facing a crisis of absolutely epic proportions, and the economic suffering that we are currently experiencing is nothing compared to the economic suffering that is ahead of us.

15 Grocery Products That Will Become Impossible to Find This Fall https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-grocery-products-that-will-become-impossible-to-find-this-fall/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-grocery-products-that-will-become-impossible-to-find-this-fall/#respond Sat, 05 Aug 2023 14:01:32 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=195518 If you have been following the news lately, you’ve probably seen that panic buying is hitting U.S. grocery stores again, and many essential products are facing bare shelves as consumers rush to hoard basic supplies. For instance, rice shelves have been hit by panic buying in recent weeks after U.S. shoppers heard that another import ban would hit supplies in the coming weeks, worsening shortages not only in America but globally.

The pantry staple is another item that has already faced a significant price hike, according to the CPI. In the first quarter, the cost of rice has risen by 14%, and further increases are expected due to a tighter commodity market and supply chain disruptions. In July, India announced it would ban rice exports, and earlier this year, China and Pakistan placed import limits citing environmental factors like flooding, droughts, and heat waves as the causes of lower production.

On top of all this, demand for rice has risen due to the Ukraine crisis, as people are looking for alternatives to Ukranian wheat exports. This means that the product will not only become harder to find, but shoppers will have to pay even more for it from now on.

Similarly, the U.S. dairy shortage is still going and causing a lot of products to disappear from grocery stores in recent months, and yogurt is one of them. Prices are going up at a brisk pace, too. According to CPI data, since January, yogurt prices rose by 19%, almost as much as milk, and butter, which rose by 21% and 23%, respectively, If that’s a staple you can’t live without, maybe it’s time to learn how to make your own. With temperatures dropping, food makers will have less incentive to boost the output of the product, which may only see the same supply levels next year.

On top of that, if you like to bake, then you are surely feeling the pinch of inflation in 2023. Two of the most basic ingredients for baking are surging in price right now. The average cost of flour jumped over 28% since last year while the average price of sugar increased is nearly 22% higher than last August. At the same time, eggs are almost 40% more expensive than in 2021, and chocolate is pricier too, up 16.4% since January.

One predictable result of the rising cost of these baking supplies is higher prices for chocolate chip cookies. Today, they cost nearly $5.18 per pound on average, surging nearly 25% since last year. The lower availability of each of those ingredients is also squeezing supplies and can lead to bare shelves in the second half of 2023.

Those who’ve got a sweet tooth should definitely look for sales and maybe put an extra box of cookies in their carts next time they go shopping. The change in seasonal demand can make this product sell out at stores faster than most people realize.

This trend is expected to accelerate during the fall as shopping demand peaks, and seasonal shifts cause inventories to shrink nationwide. It’s time to get ready for grocery shortages and chaos at stores as more and more people start stocking up on their favorite foods.

As temperatures drop and consumer demand picks up, stores are likely to run out of many of our favorite products in the next few months. That’s why it’s so important to think ahead and prepare for the potential disruptions that can hit our food systems. Today, we compiled some items that are likely to face major price hikes and may disappear from supermarkets before you even notice it.

Here’s the List:

  1. Rice
  2. Champagne
  3. Ketchup
  4. Bread
  5. Ham
  6. Spaghetti
  7. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Kroger Shoppers Reporting “a Lot of Empty Shelves” Across Supermarket Chain Locations https://americanconservativemovement.com/kroger-shoppers-reporting-a-lot-of-empty-shelves-across-supermarket-chain-locations/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/kroger-shoppers-reporting-a-lot-of-empty-shelves-across-supermarket-chain-locations/#comments Mon, 09 Jan 2023 19:44:51 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=188258 Social media is brimming with reports of missing food items at Kroger supermarket locations across the country.

A repeat of early 2020 when toilet paper and other essentials ran bare, the start of 2023 is seeing “a lot of empty shelves” at Kroger, according to numerous reports, some containing video evidence of lingering supply chain problems.

Not only are Kroger shelves missing many essentials, but prices for things that are still in stock, most notably eggs, are skyrocketing to unprecedented levels. (Related: Remember when Kroger punished unvaccinated employees by removing their covid benefits and charging them higher insurance premiums?)

On the last day of 2022, a popular YouTube account called AdventuresWithDanno visited a local Kroger store to document any changes in inventory and pricing. Many empty shelves with only a few remaining ultra-high-priced items could be seen.

“We are at Kroger, and are noticing price increases on groceries, and a lot of empty shelves!” the video’s caption reads. “We are here to check out skyrocketing prices and the empty shelves situation! It’s getting rough out here as stores seem to be struggling with getting products!”

One particular area of the store with very bare shelves was the pet products aisle, which was missing most of the store-brand items. The only things left were a few overpriced items of lesser-sought-out brands.

“If you find cat [litter], don’t worry about the price: just get some,” the channel host said. “We’re seeing inconvenience stickers everywhere, and these are fresh. This must be becoming an issue again.”

Will 2023 become the year of mass starvation?

The store’s dairy case was also in shambles with most of the egg products missing.

“It’s exactly what we thought with all the eggs,” the host said. “People are starting to buy other eggs because the store brands – the cheapest ones you can get – are getting really expensive.”

In the inflation department, Kroger appears to be jacking up original prices on items only to mark them “down” from there and pretend they are on sale – even though the end “sale” price is still higher than the original.

A five-pound bag of mandarin oranges, for instance, is now on “sale” for $6.49 at Kroger. The original price, though, was hiked up to $7.99, making it not so much of a sale after all.

“These price increases are just insane!” wrote one of the video viewers in the chat section. “You have to wonder where it’s all going to end.”

Many others visited their local Kroger stores to confirm and found much the same thing: prices are rising and there are shortages of a lot of different things.

“Just paid $5.49 for a dozen Kroger large [eggs],” one wrote, adding that the same egg section was “totally empty” just a few days prior.

One person in Kentucky said the local Kroger store was so empty that it looked like it was in the process of closing down. An official from the company reportedly confirmed that, despite how it appears, the store will remain in operation.

“Most of dairy and meat section completely empty,” the customer revealed. “Shopped here for 30 yrs almost and I have never seen it like this.”

Another customer in Ohio sent a photo to Kroger of bare shelves at his store, asking on Twitter: “where did all the food go @Kroger?” The company acknowledged this tweet with the following response, along with a reassurance that the corporate office had reached out to that specific location’s management to address the issue:

“Yikes! We’re sorry to see your local Kroger shelves are empty!”
