The primary reason why so many people are living in their vehicles is because the cost of living has soared to unprecedented heights.

In particular, the cost of housing has become extremely oppressive.  In fact, housing in the United States has become more unaffordable than it has ever been before.

This week, I was stunned to read about a 33-year-old man named Ishan Abeysekera that is paying $2,100 a month to share a house with 23 other people…

In a city as notoriously expensive as New York, it’s common to see people in their late 20s and early 30s living with roommates to help manage the high cost of living.

But Ishan Abeysekera has taken that to the next level with his current living situation in Brooklyn: a communal building that he shares with a whopping 23 other people.

“When I say I have 23 housemates, people are like ‘What? That sounds wild,’” Abeysekera tells CNBC Make It. “But actually, it’s quite nice.”

That is nuts!

Who would pay that much to live with 23 total strangers?

Of course most Americans can’t afford to pay $2,100 a month for housing.

For example, it is being reported that some flight attendants that work for American Airlines are “sleeping in their cars” because the pay is so low…

Most new flight attendant hires are required to live in cities like Dallas, Miami, and New York, which have high costs of living that they cannot afford, Hedrick noted.

American flight attendants are sleeping in their cars, she said. Some of them fight for trips just for the chance to eat the plane meals, if the pilots don’t take their meals first.

“Our new hire flight attendants are struggling,” Hedrick said, adding that new hires most strongly rejected the 17% hike.

When I was growing up, I always thought that those that were selected as flight attendants had very good jobs.

But those days are long gone.

In this economy, many flight attendants can’t even afford a place to live.

Of course there are millions of others in a similar position.  In recent years, “van life” has become quite trendy, and more than 3 million Americans now fall into this category…

“Van life” or “van living” is a term that is becoming more popular around the country. People packing up their lives, moving into a mobile unit and exploring the states.

According to Yahoo Finance, the number of American van lifers has increased by 63% over the last couple of years, going from 1.9 million in 2020, to 3.1 million in 2022.

In the old days, if you lived in a van down by the river you were considered to be a bum.

But in this economy, living in a van down by the river is just considered to be normal.

Needless to say, there are some “van lifers” that choose the lifestyle because of the freedom it offers.

But there are many others that have been forced into this lifestyle.  A woman named Michelle Rose that used to own a home in Montana is one of them

Three and a half years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, Michelle Rose was about to lose her Montana home, was having issues with her job, lost her mother, and put everything she owned into a van to live in it permanently.

“I was like let’s just do this, let’s just sell the house and get on the road and we will figure out things as we go. It has sort of been a by the seat of my pants kind of life,” said Rose.

Michelle says that finances are the hardest part of van life for her, it is a constant worry and finding work is also challenging.

Another woman named Katie that “works as a manifestation coach and at a local coffee shop” admits that it was a tough mental adjustment when she started to live out of her vehicle…

Katie J., who works as a manifestation coach and at a local coffee shop, spoke about the mental legwork she had to work through in order to reach a sense of belonging in the community.

“Van life is fun and cool and saves money and it’s flashy on Instagram and stuff,” Katie J. said, “but it will bring up a lot for you to work through when it comes to not having roots somewhere … I’m a black woman and I’m already rare in Truckee as is, so to be also living in a van, I had so much stuff around that, so much shadow work to do around the limiting beliefs and feeling like I’m not supposed to be here, and I shouldn’t be parking here and I’m gonna get in trouble.”

A lot of these people have jobs, and a lot of these people would not be officially classified as “homeless”. But the cost of living crisis has driven them to the brink of losing everything.

Unfortunately, our leaders never seem to learn.  They keep borrowing and spending money at an unprecedented rate, and this continues to create even more inflation.

If you can believe it, our government is even spending “up to a quarter million taxpayer dollars” to teach Iraqi kids how to be climate activists…

The State Department is offering up to a quarter million taxpayer dollars to an eligible nonprofit to teach Iraqi teenagers about climate activism.

Iraqi high schoolers could receive “Eco Action Clubs” bankrolled by taxpayers that will teach them how to advocate for environmental reform in their home country, according to a grant solicitation posted by the State Department earlier this month. The clubs will have several objectives, ranging from developing an “eco-agenda and action plan” which will generate “climate change solutions” to running a social media campaign to increase awareness of the climate crisis.

We are literally committing national suicide, but most of the population doesn’t seem to care.

Every election cycle, the big spenders are sent back to Washington over and over again.

Meanwhile, more Americans are being forced to sleep in their vehicles with each passing day.

Please do not look down on those that have been forced to sleep in a vehicle, because with a bit of bad luck just about anyone could end up in the same situation.

One Man Found the Infamous “Carpet Trails” in Florida That Lead to Enormous Bum Camps Way Back in the Woods https://americanconservativemovement.com/one-man-found-the-infamous-carpet-trails-in-florida-that-lead-to-enormous-bum-camps-way-back-in-the-woods/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/one-man-found-the-infamous-carpet-trails-in-florida-that-lead-to-enormous-bum-camps-way-back-in-the-woods/#respond Fri, 26 Jul 2024 19:20:58 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=209942 (The Economic Collapse Blog)—If you are still able to afford a decent home, you should consider yourself to be incredibly blessed, because vast numbers of Americans do not have a permanent place to live at this point.  Homelessness in the United States is at the highest level ever recorded, and it has been growing at the fastest pace ever recorded.  The homeless encampments that have been popping up all over our major cities have been making lots of headlines in recent years, but many of the homeless live and die in very isolated places far from public view.  What I am about to share with you should deeply sadden all of us.

Way back in the woods in southwest Florida, trails that have been made out of discarded carpets lead to absolutely enormous homeless encampments where hordes of homeless people have made homes for themselves.

One man was able to find these infamous “carpet trails”, and he posted footage of them on his YouTube channel

Coastal areas of southern Florida are very popular among the homeless because the nights never get too cold even during the winter.

But there are plenty of other hazards, and just trying to stay alive can be a real struggle.

Of course the west coast is dealing with an even greater crisis.

In Portland, homeless encampments have taken over vast stretches of the city and nobody seems to have any solutions.

KATU recently visited one of the most notorious homeless encampments, and they discovered that it has gotten even bigger since the last time they visited it…

This is what a collapsing society looks like.

Poverty and hunger are spreading like wildfire, and the deplorable conditions in many of our core urban areas are being openly mocked all over the globe.

In fact, in China they are actually “producing documentaries on the collapse of American cities”

The Chinese are now producing documentaries on the collapse of American cities. What this showcases is the grim aftermath of decades of deindustrialization, disastrous progressive policies, and an opioid crisis—ironically fueled by China.

“Chinese are making documentaries about ultra-extreme poverty and decaying cities since they don’t exist in China anymore,” X user S.L. Kanthan wrote in a recent post, accompanied by a short clip from the documentary highlighting the implosion of Oakland, California.

Since the video was narrated in Chinese, X user TranslateMom translated some of the captions, which said, “Everywhere is garbage … People don’t live in places. There are wanderers everywhere.”

One of the primary reasons why so many people are forced to live in the streets is because housing has become ridiculously unaffordable.

If you can believe it, there are now 237 U.S. cities where “buyers will find a price tag of $1 million or more on the typical starter home”…

A million-dollar price tag no longer means lavish and luxurious living. In more than 200 U.S. cities, buyers will find a price tag of $1 million or more on the typical starter home, a new Zillow® analysis finds.

The typical “starter home” — defined for this analysis as being among those in the lowest third of home values in a given region — is worth at least $1 million in 237 cities, the highest number of cities ever. Five years ago, there were only 84 such cities.

That is nuts! Who can afford to pay a million bucks for a “starter home”? This is what rampant inflation has done to us.

It has absolutely eviscerated our standard of living, and ordinary Americans such as you and I are feeling a tremendous amount of pain right now.

According to Zillow, California, New York and New Jersey are the states that have the most cities where a typical “starter home” costs at least a million dollars…

Exactly half of all states have at least one city with a typical starter home worth $1 million or more. There are 117 such cities in California, well ahead of New York (31) and New Jersey (21), which have the second- and third-highest numbers. Florida and Massachusetts round out the top five with 11 each.

Among metropolitan areas, the New York City metro, which includes parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, has the most cities with million-dollar starter homes at 48. The San Francisco metro has the next highest count at 44, followed by Los Angeles (35), San Jose (15), and Miami and Seattle, each with eight. Irvine, with a population of more than 300,000, is the biggest city with $1 million starter homes.

Of course California is also being overwhelmed by homeless encampments right now too.

Progressive policies have resulted in a chronic shortage of affordable housing, and that isn’t going to change any time soon.

Sadly, conditions are only going to get worse all over the nation because our economic momentum is rapidly taking us in the wrong direction.

For example, we just learned that credit card delinquency rates have risen to the highest level ever recorded

A growing number of Americans are falling behind on their monthly credit card payments as they continue to battle high inflation and interest rates.

New data published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia shows that credit card delinquency rates in the first quarter of 2024 rose to the highest level since 2012, when the Fed began tracking the data. All stages of credit card delinquency — 30, 60 and 90 days past due — rose during the first three months of the year.

And another major retailer just went bankrupt and is closing lots of stores…

Home goods retailer Conn’s HomePlus filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday and announced plans to close at least 70 locations across 13 states.

On its website, Conn’s says it will close 18 locations in Florida, nine in Texas and seven in Arizona. Other states that will see stores close include Virginia, Colorado, Mississippi and Oklahoma, among others.

Everywhere you look, there is suffering.

But for the moment, those at the very top of the economic food chain are still thriving.

In fact, the wealthiest one percent have actually gotten 42 trillion dollars wealthier during the past decade…

The world’s richest one percent increased their fortunes by a total of $42 trillion over the past decade, Oxfam said Thursday, ahead of a G20 summit in Brazil where taxing the super-rich tops the agenda.

Despite this windfall, taxes on the rich had plummeted to “historic lows”, the NGO added, warning of “obscene levels” of inequality with the rest of the world “left to scrap for crumbs”.

A day of reckoning is coming for them too.

In fact, a day of reckoning is rapidly approaching for the entire planet.

Our system is fundamentally flawed, and decades of really bad decisions have brought us to a breaking point.

So please don’t look down on those that have lost their homes and have no place to live, because lots more people will be joining them soon.

Our National Illegal Alien Crisis Is Supercharging the Growth of Vagrancy All Over the United States https://americanconservativemovement.com/our-national-illegal-alien-crisis-is-supercharging-the-growth-of-vagrancy-all-over-the-united-states/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/our-national-illegal-alien-crisis-is-supercharging-the-growth-of-vagrancy-all-over-the-united-states/#comments Tue, 25 Jun 2024 08:40:03 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=208366 (The Economic Collapse Blog)—Over the past three years, millions of migrants have come pouring into this country looking for a better life.  They were promised that things would be so much better once they got here, but for so many of them that has turned out to be not true at all.

There just aren’t enough resources to care for the vast number of migrants that are arriving, and as a result many quickly find themselves homeless.  It is a tragedy of monumental proportions, and it is getting worse with each passing day.

Just look at what is happening to the city of Chicago.  According to a new report that was just released, the homeless population in the Windy City tripled between January 2023 and January 2024

The number of Chicagoans living in city shelters or on city streets tripled between January 2023 and January 2024, according to the annual survey used by federal officials to track homelessness, city officials announced Friday.

When your homeless population triples in a single year, you have a major problem on your hands. And please keep in mind that these are just the ones that they can actually find and count.  Studies have shown that the real homeless population is often several times greater than official counts reveal.

According to this latest report, the migration crisis is the primary reason why the homeless population in Chicago is exploding…

The point-in-time count estimates the number of people in shelters, transitional housing, encampments and other “unsheltered” locations. The estimate noted the pressures the migrant crisis poses to the city.

“Since August 2022, Chicago has welcomed over 40,000 New Arrivals arriving from the southern border, many of whom have needed shelter and services,” it said.

“The largest increase in this year’s Shelter Count was due to the continued influx of New Arrivals to Chicago in 2023.”

When 40 people show up, it is easy to take care of them.

When 40,000 people show up, that is another matter entirely.

A similar thing is happening in San Antonio.

One Catholic charity that cares for migrants says that it simply cannot keep up with the “huge increase” in migration that has occurred…

A Catholic charity has said it can’t keep up with a “huge increase” of migrants entering San Antonio through the U.S.-Mexico border, who are now finding themselves on the streets.

Over the past several years, San Antonio has been completely transformed.

According to official city data, a whopping 619,919 migrants have arrived in the city since January 2021…

According to the city’s migrant dashboard, as of June 19, migrant arrivals since January 2021 have totaled 619,919. Those numbers peaked in November and December 2022, at 30,900 and 37,146, respectively.

For many, San Antonio is not the final destination.

But there are others that have ended up stuck in the city because they literally have nowhere else to go

“I can tell you we have seen a huge increase of people in the streets, so we have our mobile units go around like south side, west side, places we usually give out food to the homeless people, we’re having now an increase in people coming to the food pantry and our mobile unit who are from Venezuela,” said Fernandez.

With no place to sleep and no money for a bus or plane ticket, Fernandez said many of these migrants are out on the streets, adding to the homeless population Catholic Charities already serves.

We should all be greatly saddened by what we are witnessing.

So much of this suffering could have been easily avoided if our politicians had made different decisions.

At one shelter in Los Angeles, it is being estimated that migrants now account for about 90 percent of the people that are being served…

“We’re mainly serving people that come from other countries like Venezuela, Honduras, Nicaragua,” said Salvador Mendoza, the shelter’s lead case manager. “I will say yeah, 90%.”

The bulk of the shelter’s residents are now asylum seekers who’ve arrived in the U.S. in the past several months, he said. Most are from Venezuela. Some came on buses from Texas; others made it to L.A. themselves, some after being initially bused elsewhere. Many had plans to stay with acquaintances, relatives or other sponsors, but those plans fell through.

“So they come to this cruel reality, you know, of not being able to find a job, not being able to have a roof over their head, not knowing the language, not knowing where to go, what to do, so their only option is just being on the street,” Mendoza said.

Some cities have decided that the solution to the migrant crisis is to simply ship migrants somewhere else.

Recently, reports that Denver was shipping large numbers of migrants to Salt Lake City caused a tremendous uproar

News that the city of Denver was covering the transportation costs of some immigrants to travel from the Colorado capital to Salt Lake City caused an uproar last Friday. Denver, also overwhelmed by an immigrant influx, has also covered the cost of transporting immigrants to Chicago and New York City, which actually received a larger influx than Salt Lake City, according to a report last February by Denverite, a Colorado publication.

Cox called Denver’s practice “completely unacceptable” and said Utah resources “are completely depleted.” Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County officials also said the situation has stressed their ability to contend with the housing and other needs of the immigrants, which led to the alert, published in both Spanish and English.

Denver is absolutely overwhelmed by migrants.

But so is Salt Lake City.

And so is Chicago.

And so is New York City.

Transporting them from city to city isn’t going to solve anything.

But many local politicians feel like they have to do something because of all the social problems that are erupting.

In the Big Apple, there has been a lot of violence and crime, and that includes one recent incident that involved two police officers

A mob of migrants are facing gang assault charges after allegedly pummeling two NYPD cops outside a Queens hotel shelter, prosecutors and law enforcement sources said Tuesday.

Four men were busted after they attacked two of New York’s Finest shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday as the cops were checking on three unattended children outside the converted Long Island City hotel that now houses asylum seekers, according to authorities.

When they asked about the unsupervised kids the men allegedly pounced on them.

As I have been relentlessly warning my readers, a tremendous amount of social unrest is in our future, and adding millions of extremely desperate migrants to the equation is only going to make things even worse.

We depend upon our politicians in Washington to make common sense decisions, and they have completely and utterly failed us.

Now major cities all over the nation are being absolutely overwhelmed by deeply suffering people, and that is a reality that should greatly sadden every single one of us.

San Francisco Exemplifies Leftist Logic Perfectly With Program to Help Alcoholic Bums Get Free Vodka Shots https://americanconservativemovement.com/san-francisco-exemplifies-leftist-logic-perfectly-with-program-to-help-alcoholic-bums-get-free-vodka-shots/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/san-francisco-exemplifies-leftist-logic-perfectly-with-program-to-help-alcoholic-bums-get-free-vodka-shots/#respond Sat, 11 May 2024 16:25:10 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=203385 (Discern Media)—The City of San Francisco has decided to take a rather peculiar approach to address the issue of homeless alcoholics. They’ve initiated a “Managed Alcohol Program,” which, in the most cynical sense, can be summed up as providing free beer and vodka shots to homeless individuals suffering from alcohol addiction. This program, funded by the taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars, is a part of a little-known pilot program.

Experts claim that this program can save lives or at least prolong them. But let’s be honest here, it’s not like the city is investing in their recovery or sobriety. Instead, they’re simply making sure these individuals stay off the streets and out of emergency services, which apparently saves the city a few bucks.

The Managed Alcohol Program, or MAP, was first introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep vulnerable homeless individuals who were placed in isolation in hotel rooms from experiencing alcohol withdrawal. Now, it has expanded into a 20-bed program that operates out of a former hotel in Tenderloin, with a budget of $5 million annually.

The program’s nurses provide clients with a motel room, three meals a day, and enough alcohol “to meet their addiction needs, but keep someone at a safe level of intoxication.” What a lovely way to spend taxpayer money, right?

In addition to free alcohol, the program also allows marijuana use, because why not? There’s no policy against it, so these individuals can indulge in their vices as they please.

Critics, including the Salvation Army San Francisco and its CEO Adam Nathan, have called this program into question. Nathan criticized the program after visiting the hotel, claiming it felt odd and didn’t seem like it was addressing the root problem. But hey, who cares about recovery and sobriety when you can just keep people in a perpetual state of addiction, right?

San Francisco Mayor London Breed has even chimed in, stating that harm reduction isn’t actually reducing harm, but making things far worse. But who’s to argue with the experts who claim this program has saved $1.7 million in reduced hospital visits and police calls? Certainly not the people who are genuinely concerned about the well-being of these individuals and the city’s use of taxpayer funds.

San Francisco’s Managed Alcohol Program is a shining example of how a city can throw money at a problem without actually addressing the underlying issues. Cheers to that, I guess.

Woman Lived in a Grocery Store Sign in Michigan With a Computer and Keurig for a Year https://americanconservativemovement.com/woman-lived-in-a-grocery-store-sign-in-michigan-with-a-computer-and-keurig-for-a-year/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/woman-lived-in-a-grocery-store-sign-in-michigan-with-a-computer-and-keurig-for-a-year/#comments Fri, 10 May 2024 10:57:17 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=203349 Contractors in Midland, Michigan, recently discovered a 34-year-old woman living inside a Family Fare grocery store sign. The woman, whose name was not disclosed, had been residing in the sign for approximately a year and had access to amenities such as a computer, printer, and coffee maker, according to Officer Brennon Warren of the Midland Police Department. Midland, known for being the global headquarters of Dow Inc., is located 130 miles north of Detroit.

The Family Fare store is situated in a retail strip with a sign structure at the top, which is accessible from the roof. The woman was able to use electricity through a power cord plugged into an outlet on the roof, Warren said. It remains unclear how she accessed the roof without a ladder.

“She was homeless,” Officer Brennon Warren of the Midland Police Department said Thursday. “It’s a story that makes you scratch your head, just somebody living up in a sign.”

The woman is employed but apparently does not make enough money in the current economy to afford housing.

SpartanNash, the parent company of Family Fare, commended the store employees for their compassion and professionalism in handling the situation. The company’s spokesperson, Adrienne Chance, emphasized the need for more safe and affordable housing nationwide.

The woman was cooperative and left the premises without any charges being pursued. The Midland Police Department provided her with information about local services.

Saralyn Temple, the director of Midland’s Open Door, a nonprofit that provides food and shelter assistance, highlighted the need for more housing options for low-income residents in the city, which has a population of 42,000. Despite acknowledging the woman’s resourcefulness, Temple stressed the importance of finding better housing solutions for individuals in similar situations.

Nonprofit Tasked With Tackling Bum Crisis in San Francisco Accused of Stealing $100K From City https://americanconservativemovement.com/nonprofit-tasked-with-tackling-bum-crisis-in-san-francisco-accused-of-stealing-100k-from-city/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/nonprofit-tasked-with-tackling-bum-crisis-in-san-francisco-accused-of-stealing-100k-from-city/#respond Wed, 08 May 2024 09:51:58 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=203295 DCNF(DCNF)—San Francisco’s city attorney on Monday accused a nonprofit that has received tens of millions of public dollars to provide homeless services of stealing public funds.

Providence Foundation, led by Patricia Doyle, allegedly “took over $100,000 of public money meant to benefit people experiencing homelessness” by submitting fraudulent invoices to San Francisco, according to a press release from the city attorney’s office. Doyle’s foundation has received roughly $100 million in contracts from the city, though its tax forms don’t include information on how much of its revenue went toward executive compensation, as is standard practice among nonprofits.

“There’s a difference between having challenges with financial compliance and intentionally defrauding the City and its taxpayers,” City Attorney David Chiu said. “This nonprofit took over $100,000 of public money meant to benefit people experiencing homelessness. That cannot be tolerated.”

Providence Foundation operates the Oasis Hotel in the city as a shelter for homeless families.

The foundation received at least $105,000 from San Francisco after submitting two invoices related to repainting the hotel’s exterior and removing deadbolt locks, according to the city attorney’s office.

The hotel, however, was never painted and the locks were never removed, according to the city attorney. The Providence Foundation also allegedly used a fabricated contractor license number on the invoices it submitted to the city.

The nonprofit also gave jobs to its leaders’ children, in violation of an anti-nepotism provision in its grant agreement with San Francisco, engaged in wage theft, failed to respond to document requests and did not keep enough homeless families in its shelter, according to the city attorney.

The city attorney temporarily banned the Providence Foundation from receiving new municipal grants and is seeking to impose a formal ban for up to five years.

Providence Foundation reported spending over $6.8 million on employee compensation on its most recent tax forms. The foundation’s forms do not include information on how much its executives were paid, a departure from standard practice among nonprofits.

Providence Foundation’s website only lists ten employees.

Doyle was first flagged by San Francisco for nonprofit mismanagement more than a decade ago, according to documents obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle. She had overspent contract budgets and billed the city for her credit card purchases without providing documentation, according to the documents.

Other nonprofits in San Francisco paid by the city to provide services have been marred with recent allegations of financial mismanagement, using city funds to buy personal goods like cigars and embezzlement, alongside other accusations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The wave of recent allegations coincides with reports of poor nonprofit oversight practices in San Francisco. Some nonprofits with subpar performance were nonetheless given contract continuations, while other organizations receiving city funds were barely reviewed, according to an investigation conducted by the San Francisco Standard.

Despite San Francisco spending billions trying to assuage homelessness, thousands remain living on the streets. Residents are suing the city for not controlling the problem in one of the city’s busiest districts. Fires stemming from homeless encampments in the city are also an issue, with more than 800 fires stemming from encampments in 2023, up from 400 in 2019.

Providence Foundation and the San Francisco city attorney’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

Homeless Encampments Make Los Angeles Look Like a Third World Country https://americanconservativemovement.com/homeless-encampments-make-los-angeles-look-like-a-third-world-country/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/homeless-encampments-make-los-angeles-look-like-a-third-world-country/#respond Thu, 04 Apr 2024 13:11:22 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=202435 (Natural News)—Downtown Los Angeles has been likened to a “third world” area following the release of disturbing footage showcasing a homeless encampment, complete with open fires in the streets and sidewalks strewn with trash.

The alarming video, shared by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin on X, reveals numerous homeless individuals gathered on filthy sidewalks at the intersection of San Pedro Street and 6th Street in LA’s Skid Row neighborhood. Some are shown near open fires on the street, mere steps away from the Midnight Mission, a $17 million facility catering to the homeless.

Billionaire Elon Musk, known for his commentary on California’s homelessness crisis, simply reacted with “wow” upon viewing the footage.

Commenters on X expressed astonishment, with one stating, “Gavin Newsom’s California may be the wealthiest state, but its cities resemble those of Third World nations,” while another remarked, “If you didn’t tell us this was LA, we would think this was a city in a third-world country!”

The homeless population in LA currently exceeds 46,000 individuals, marking a 10 percent increase from the previous year, as reported by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

LA, in particular, has witnessed a surge in homelessness since the onset of the pandemic, with over 10,000 more individuals living on the streets compared to 2019. Since 2015, homelessness in the city has risen by 70 percent. (Related: HOMELESSNESS in the U.S. reaches RECORD HIGH amid worsening economic downturn post-pandemic.)

The Midnight Mission, located just meters from the distressing scene captured in the online video, is facing severe strain on its resources.

The Mission provides three daily meals, temporary accommodation, a barbershop, and a women’s crisis center. However, despite their efforts, female homelessness in LA has spiked by 55 percent in three years, with over 90 percent of these women reporting experiences of physical or sexual assault.

To address the opioid crisis gripping Skid Row, the city has deployed mobile teams equipped with oxygen cylinders to prevent overdoses.

Meanwhile, workers from the non-profit organization Homeless Health Care Los Angeles traverse the streets, attending to individuals living among makeshift dwellings and witnessing dire health conditions, including substance abuse.

Los Angeles County has allocated a budget of $609.7 million to combat homelessness in 2023-2024, a $61.8 million increase from the previous year. Despite these efforts, Governor Gavin Newsom admitted last summer that the state’s homeless crisis was a “disgrace” and pledged additional resources.

During his tenure, homelessness in California has surged by 13 percent, prompting Newsom to acknowledge the challenges related to high housing costs, regulatory hurdles, and local opposition to new housing construction.

LA mayor faces big challenge

Following her election as mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass made a bold declaration that would serve as a defining measure of her tenure: “We are going to solve homelessness.”

The Democratic congresswoman, who was previously considered for vice president by Joe Biden, envisioned a transformed city with over 40,000 homeless individuals provided with housing and vital services to mend their fractured lives. “We are going to build a new Los Angeles,” she proclaimed.

Now, one year into her mayoral term, Bass reported that over 21,000 unhoused individuals were transitioned into leased hotels or temporary shelters in 2023, marking a 28 percent increase from the previous year.

Numerous drug-ridden street encampments were dismantled, and housing initiatives are underway. Yet, behind these promising statistics lies a harsh reality: this is merely the beginning.

Billions of dollars had been invested to address homelessness in the region, and new programs had been implemented. However, the mayor acknowledged the possibility of continued increases in homelessness, partly due to evictions and the cessation of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) aid for low-income households.

While Bass has made progress, tackling LA’s homelessness crisis presents a formidable challenge. The city grapples with managing a potentially expanding homeless population, equivalent to the size of Palm Springs, without an efficient computer system capable of tracking individuals within it.

One Massive National Crisis That Is Providing Lots of Fuel for Another Massive National Crisis https://americanconservativemovement.com/one-massive-national-crisis-that-is-providing-lots-of-fuel-for-another-massive-national-crisis/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/one-massive-national-crisis-that-is-providing-lots-of-fuel-for-another-massive-national-crisis/#comments Mon, 01 Jan 2024 11:41:23 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=199966 (End of the American Dream)—We have reached a stage in our societal collapse where everywhere you look there is a major dumpster fire.  In fact, it is difficult to name a single major area of our society that has not become a dumpster fire.  Unfortunately, conditions just continue to get even worse.  These days we are being hit with one thing after another, and this has created a “perfect storm” that our politicians have no control over.  For example, just look at the migrant crisis that we are facing right now.  During the month of December alone, more than 300,000 migrants will be processed at the southern border, and once they are processed the vast majority of them will be released into the country…

U.S. immigration officials along the southern border are on track to process more than 300,000 migrants in December, an all-time monthly high that will likely include record numbers of families traveling with children, according to internal government data obtained by CBS News.

The extraordinary number of migrant arrivals this month is the most dire juncture yet of a three-year-long crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border that has strained resources in small and large U.S. communities, left countless of migrants in limbo, prompted lawmakers to consider drastically limiting asylum and created a major political vulnerability for President Biden as he seeks reelection.

At this point, why would anyone try to come into this country legally through the front door when the back door is broken and completely wide open?

As Elon Musk has pointed out, we have never seen anything quite like this.

This crisis will almost certainly intensify during the year ahead, because these migrants are being drawn here by all the freebies that they are being promised.

If you can believe it, starting on January 1st the state of California will actually be offering “health insurance for all undocumented immigrants”

California will welcome the new year by becoming the first state to offer health insurance for all undocumented immigrants.

Starting Jan. 1, all undocumented immigrants, regardless of age, will qualify for Medi-Cal, California’s version of the federal Medicaid program for people with low incomes.

Previously, undocumented immigrants were not qualified to receive comprehensive health insurance but were allowed to receive emergency and pregnancy-related services under Medi-Cal as long as they met eligibility requirements, including income limits and California residency in 2014.

Of course once they get here many migrants realize that things aren’t so nice.

New York City is supposed to be a “sanctuary city” and a place where everyone has a “right to shelter”, but at this point the Big Apple simply does not have enough beds for everyone.

As a result, migrants that have “run out their time in shelters” are being forced out into the streets to make room for more migrants that have just arrived…

That new reality is on stark display outside an East Village “reticketing center,” where every morning for the past few weeks, hundreds of people — mostly men — have queued in the frigid pre-dawn hours in a line that snakes around the block.

The building, the former St. Brigid’s Catholic School on East 7th Street, is now the centralized intake point for adult migrants who’ve run out their time in shelters — since the city has begun to put that on a clock — and are seeking a bed for another 30 days.

Those seeking a place to sleep are given a wristband with a number and a date scribbled in sharpie, indicating how many people are before them in line. The number of those waiting for cots, spread out across a network of emergency shelters across the city, is likely in the thousands, and it now takes more than a week to secure one.

Needless to say, New York City is not the only major city that is being overwhelmed.

All over the country, our rapidly growing migration crisis is fueling our rapidly growing homelessness crisis.

This year, homelessness in the United States has been rising at the fastest pace ever recorded

Homelessness in America reached a new record earlier this year partly due to a “sharp rise” in the number of people who became homeless for the first time, federal officials said Friday.

More than 650,000 people experienced homelessness on a single night in January, a 12% jump from 2022, the report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development found. That’s the highest number since the country began using the yearly point-in-time survey in 2007 to count the homeless population.

Why are we allowing vast numbers of migrants to overwhelm our cities when we already have so many people sleeping in the streets? It doesn’t make any sense at all.

We have reached a point where Americans “are often too terrified to walk the streets” because homelessness has become so pervasive…

The homeless and drugs crisis tormenting major cities across the US has spiraled out of control in recent years, leaving many residents and local businesses furious over the downfall of their neighborhoods.

Residents are often too terrified to walk the streets and fear for the safety of their family, while rampant lawlessness is increasingly driving tourists and trade out of cities – with many companies shutting up shop altogether due to looting.

As I have discussed in previous articles, a substantial portion of the homeless population is on drugs, and those that are high on drugs are not particularly careful about where they use the bathroom.

As a result, poop in the streets is a major problem in communities all over America, and all of that poop can spread some pretty horrible diseases.

For example, just check out what is happening in Portland

A highly contagious infection that is spread through tiny particles of fecal matter has broken out in Portland – with officials warning that the homeless population are most at risk of catching the illness.

Shigella is a bacteria that spreads through human feces. People transmit the infection after getting the microbes on their hands and then touching their mouths.

People can also spread the intestinal infection through sexual intercourse.

In 2024, I expect levels of migration and levels of homelessness to go even higher.

Our cities are being absolutely packed with desperate people, and that is setting the stage for unprecedented societal chaos.

But most of our politicians don’t seem to care.

Most of them seem convinced that everything will work out just fine somehow, and they certainly don’t want to hear from those of us that are deeply concerned about where all of this is ultimately heading.

Another Homeless Camp in Democrat Hellhole Seattle Explodes, This Time Near Google’s Fremont Campus https://americanconservativemovement.com/another-homeless-camp-in-democrat-hellhole-seattle-explodes-this-time-near-googles-fremont-campus/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/another-homeless-camp-in-democrat-hellhole-seattle-explodes-this-time-near-googles-fremont-campus/#comments Tue, 15 Aug 2023 18:32:07 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=195779 It’s ironic that search giant Google has been suppressing information that paints Democrat-run cities as the criminal hellholes that they are because an enormous homeless encampment near their campus in Seattle just blew up.

Literally.

According to intrepid local journalist Jonathan Choe:

Massive explosion at the notorious Mercer St. encampment in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood Monday afternoon. It’s right across the street from Google, Novo Nordisk, and several apartment buildings in one of the busiest parts of the city.

Neighbors have been begging city and state leaders to remove this blight for months after a murder, open air drug use, and other problems at the camp. Will this be the last straw for Mayor Bruce Harrell?

He’s always had the ability to go in and take control from WSDOT under emergency circumstances. Harrell moved in and cleared another problematic WSDOT encampment in downtown Seattle last month after a similar explosion.

Governor Jay Inslee has already spent millions of dollars this year to remove camps on state right of ways with very little to show for it. The current plan is clearly failing.

As long as corporate media continues to pretend like everything’s okay in Democrat-run cities, the carnage will continue. Their  policies are failing, and unfortunately it seems to be by design. Sound off about this on The Liberty Daily Substack.

Vast Hordes of Americans Are Being Forced out Into the Streets as the Middle Class Disintegrates https://americanconservativemovement.com/vast-hordes-of-americans-are-being-forced-out-into-the-streets-as-the-middle-class-disintegrates/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/vast-hordes-of-americans-are-being-forced-out-into-the-streets-as-the-middle-class-disintegrates/#comments Mon, 17 Jul 2023 14:31:01 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=194894 How many people will be sleeping in homeless shelters, on the streets or in their vehicles where you live tonight?  That is the sort of question that not a lot of us like to think about.  But the truth is that homelessness is growing at a very rapid pace all over the country right now.  But if you have lots of money, life probably seems pretty good to you at the moment.  You may eat at a different restaurant every night, and you may be one of the approximately 10 million Americans that currently own a second home.  Our leaders made the wealthy even wealthier by pumping trillions of dollars into the system in recent years, but as the cost of living has soared the poor have gotten even poorer and the middle class has steadily disintegrated.  So now the gap between the wealthy and the rest of the nation is larger than ever, and that is creating a tremendous amount of tension in our society.

In California, vast hordes of homeless people sleep in the shadows of multi-million dollar homes every single night.

And even though California has spent a whopping 17.5 billion dollars on homelessness during the last four years, the homeless population in the state has just continued to grow

California has spent a stunning $17.5 billion trying to combat homelessness over just four years. But, in the same time frame, from 2018 to 2022, the state’s homeless population actually grew. Half of all Americans living outside on the streets, federal data shows, live in California.

Across the country, homelessness is on the rise. But California is adding more homeless people every year than any other state. More than 170,000 unhoused people now live here.

Just think about that number for a moment.

There are 170,000 homeless people in just one state.

And those are the ones that they can actually count.  They are many more that haven’t been found yet or that don’t want to be counted.

We have also just learned that family homelessness in the United States is surging

Family homelessness in the US is on the rise in an alarming sign of how the increasing cost of goods, the ever-tightening housing supply and the end of most pandemic-era benefits are putting pressure on Americans.

Some 72,700 people in families with children were experiencing homelessness in 20 of the largest cities in the nation as of January, a 37.6% jump from a year before, according to an analysis of data provided by jurisdictions. In New York, that figure shot up by two thirds, while Chicago, the District of Columbia and Fort Worth, Texas, also saw outsize increases.

I thought that Joe Biden was “fixing” the economy.

So why has that number gone up by 37.6 percent in just one year?

Something is not adding up.

A 28-year-old single mother in Washington D.C. named Mercedez Millings doesn’t have a home for herself and her four children.  Since she is so close to the White House, perhaps Biden and his family would be willing to take her in

Among those homeless in the nation’s capital is Mercedez Millings, a 28-year-old single mother of four. She delivered packages and worked at a pizza shop during the pandemic, but experienced homelessness during that time and bounced between living in her car and staying with family.

She and her children have been living in a Salvation Army transitional housing program with some 25 other families for most of this year — and Millings is taking personal finance and workforce development classes. But one big obstacle is stopping her from getting a job: She gave birth to her youngest at her mother’s home during the pandemic and never received an official birth certificate. Without it, she’s unable to sign her daughter up for child care.

There are countless others just like her.

They would love to have homes, but housing costs have simply become way too high.

As I mentioned yesterday, an unused space next to a laundry room that has been converted into an “apartment” in one building in New York City will run you $2,300 a month.

And actually purchasing a home is now out of reach for tens of millions of Americans.

The Fed has made certain of that by hiking interest rates so dramatically.

Earlier today, I came across a tweet that shared some mortgage math that is just stunning

New mortgage math is brutal.

Say you buy a $1m house with $200k down at a 7% rate ($800k mortgage).

Over the first three years you pay $193k ($5,322/mo.)

After those $193k of payments your $800k mortgage is now at $774.5k.

You paid $166k in interest, $25.5k in principle.

Ouch.

Of course housing costs are not the only thing that is going up.

According to Zero Hedge, auto insurance rates are going up by double digit percentages all over the nation…

The Wall Street Journal found Allstate has jacked up car insurance premiums by 40% in Georgia, Nationwide Mutual Insurance has increased insurance rates by 32% in California, and State Farm has bumped rates in New York by 11%. The reason is that many of these insurers have experienced significant losses over the last several years, an indication premiums will continue to rise well into 2024.

If you are still making the same amount of money that you did two or three years ago, you are rapidly falling behind.

The cost of living is not going to slow down for any of us, and if you can’t keep up that is too bad for you.

In such an environment, many middle class Americans find themselves falling into poverty, and many poor Americans are finding themselves out in the streets.

All over America, giant homeless encampments are sprouting like mushrooms.  Here is just one example

One of California’s famous wine regions has a government-sanctioned homeless encampment set up near the local courthouse, Fox News Digital has learned.

Photos taken on Sonoma County’s administrative campus in Santa Rosa show blue tents lining a parking lot where up to 100 homeless individuals can live. Leaders in Sonoma County, located in northern California’s famed wine region, approved the taxpayer-funded homeless camp this year after a “shelter crisis” declaration. The administrative complex is home to various offices such as Sonoma County Human Resources, the county registrar, Superior Court of California and district attorney’s office.

If you still have plenty of money, you may not care what is happening to everyone else.

For now, those with lots of cash are living the high life.

But that won’t last for long.

day of reckoning is coming for the wealthy, and they will deeply mourn as their tremendous wealth is wiped out.

During the early stages of this economic crisis, it will be the poor that are hit particularly hard, but great pain is eventually coming for those at the top of the food chain too.
