In fact, they are wreaking havoc on the nation’s already-distressed infrastructure due to their sheer weight.

According to the latest data, some EVs weigh upwards of 50 percent more than traditional internal combustion motor vehicles, which we are told “harm” the environment. What is all that excess weight doing to the nation’s roads, bridges and parking structures?

The answer is that EVs are causing a lot of damage to America’s crumbling infrastructure, which is currently in desperate need of repair if it is going to last and keep business and the economy running smoothly.

It is something that many people overlook when considering the “green” factors associated with EVs, but their sheer heaviness means that a whole lot more wear and tear is occurring with each passing car on the highway.

“The problems associated with EVs are poised to grow as more consumers purchase the cars under the Biden administration’s plan to eliminate gas-powered vehicles and the tailpipe emissions that come with them,” reads a Washington Times report about the environmental and infrastructure threat of EVs.

Engineers writing for Structure Magazine agree, having written a piece calling on construction companies and building codes to make necessary adjustments and accommodations for all that extra weight, which is increasing all the time as more people purchase EVs to virtue signal their love for the planet.

“Significantly increasing passenger vehicle weights combined with recently reduced structural design requirements will result in reduced factors of safety and increased maintenance and repair costs for parking structures,” the engineers warn.

“There are many cases of parking structure failures, and the growing demand for EVs will only increase the probability of failure.”

Traditional guardrails are also threatened by extra-heavy EVs, which tend to bulldoze right through them, defeating their purpose entirely. This creates dangers for other cars that risk getting slammed into by an “autopilot” Tesla gone rogue, for example.

(Related: Did you catch our report explaining why EVs are a scam?)

EVs rely on UNFRIENDLY nations for parts, materials

Another serious problem with EVs is the fact that they cannot, at least based on current mining and production rules, be produced here in North America. Sure, they can be assembled here, but the materials and parts, including rare-earth minerals, typically come from other countries.

The problem is made worse by the fact that most of the areas where EV parts and materials derive are rogue nations like communist China that are enemies of the United States.

Then there is the fact that it takes a lot of energy to power all the EVs that are flooding to roads, but not nearly enough energy infrastructure to handle charging them on a daily basis. This could eventually lead to a grid-down scenario with rolling brownouts and blackouts that interrupt regular electric service for homes and businesses.

Despite all this, the Biden regime is carrying on with pushing EVs on Americans as the solution to so-called “climate change” and “global warming,” even as some on the right, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) warn against them.

“EVs are typically much heavier compared to similarly sized, gas-powered vehicles, which will put additional strain on America’s transportation infrastructure,” Rubio is quoted as saying.

“The American Society of Civil Engineers warns that an increase in EVs could substantially reduce the lifespan of roads and bridges, necessitating further investment in infrastructure.”

EVs are really not all they are cracked up to be. Find out more about the dangers and threats at GreenTyranny.news.

California’s “Impossible” Electric Truck Mandate Could Put Logistics Companies Completely out of Business https://americanconservativemovement.com/californias-impossible-electric-truck-mandate-could-put-logistics-companies-completely-out-of-business/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/californias-impossible-electric-truck-mandate-could-put-logistics-companies-completely-out-of-business/#comments Sat, 10 Jun 2023 08:47:33 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=193440 With California’s deadline for zero-emissions vehicles looming, logistics companies are growing concerned that compliance will be impossible.

Under the new mandate, which goes into effect on January 1, 2024, all new trucks that are bought for servicing distribution centers, ports and rail yards must be zero-emission models.

One of the main concerns is the low availability of electric semi-trucks. Those that are available have very high prices, and many in the industry are concerned about the short distances they are capable of traveling on a charge. Trucks need to use dedicated charging stations, and the limited infrastructure in the areas surrounding ports will make keeping these vehicles charged complicated. The need to recharge these trucks frequently, combined with potentially long wait times as multiple trucks vie for limited charging ports, will make operation costs and times rise.

The high costs of replacement parts and maintenance services are only expected to add to logistics companies’ financial woes. For many, these costs are largely unknown at the moment, which means companies are struggling to make their plans and calculate their costs. Currently, maintenance is one of the biggest expenses for diesel trucks, and companies simply don’t know what the maintenance costs on the newer trucks will be. However, some have estimated the costs for electric truck maintenance could be tenfold the costs of maintaining diesel trucks.

The owner of California-based Sibrian Trucking, Nelson Sibrian, told The Epoch Times: “Nobody has real numbers when we ask for details about maintenance and replacement costs,” “With diesel, we know our cost per day to maintain the vehicle.”

The costs of these vehicles are another concern, with the current price for electric semi-trucks coming in at around $500,000. While fleet owners can choose from a range of different manufacturers when purchasing traditional trucks, allowing them to shop around for better deals, their electric counterparts are much harder to find and are often backordered. This means that even those who are in a financial position to purchase the vehicles may not be able to do so due to a lack of availability.

The supply problem is only expected to get worse when the mandate is in full effect. Around 10,000 drayage trucks for ports and rail yards are replaced every year, on average, so the demand is expected to be very high and vehicle makers may not be able to keep up.

Oakland trucking professional John Williams said: “This is a bigger problem than people realize because we’re being forced to do something that is literally impossible. There are not enough trucks, not enough charging stations, and not enough information that we can rely on.”

Weight limits and limited travel ranges could damage profitability

Another factor that could harm profitability is weight limits. For example, Tesla trucks have an estimated 10,000-pound battery in them. This means that the trucks will be forced to carry less cargo in order to remain compliant with weight limit regulations. Packing trucks is considered one of the best ways to boost profits, and heavy vehicles will effectively put an end to this practice.

Some truckers have also expressed concerns about the size of the lithium batteries in these trucks. If fires occur, it could pose a major public safety issue.

Another roadblock is the limited range of electric trucks. Diesel trucks can travel 1,000 miles before they need to be refueled, but the top electric semi-trucks on the market can only go as far as 300 miles before needing a charge; most, however, can only make it around 100 miles.

Although these new regulations will cost trucking companies a lot of money – costs that will ultimately be passed to consumers – Governor Gavin Newsom issued a press release applauding the Biden administration’s approval of the mandate.

He stated: “Now, thanks to the Biden administration, we’re getting more zero-emission heavy duty trucks on the roads, expanding our world-leading efforts to cut air pollution and protect public health.”

Truckers Warn About Disastrous Freight Market Collapse as Rates Face Massive Drop https://americanconservativemovement.com/truckers-warn-about-disastrous-freight-market-collapse-as-rates-face-massive-drop/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/truckers-warn-about-disastrous-freight-market-collapse-as-rates-face-massive-drop/#respond Thu, 08 Jun 2023 09:06:51 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=193383 US truckers and trucking companies are warning we’re in the middle of a freight recession worse than the 2008 crisis. As retail sales drop, and both manufacturing and import activity continue to slow down due to lower consumer demand in 2023, the road transportation industry is seeing orders being cut in half, leading to falling cargo volumes all across the country.

The collapse was the word used by one industry CEO to define what just happened to freight rates, and that is putting several trucking companies at serious risk of bankruptcy. But according to Western States Trucking Association, the ongoing downturn in the freight market is only a sign something far more distressing is about to break out in America.

When the health crisis locked people at home and Americans started to order more goods online, the freight market boomed, and rates shot up by up to 500% in some areas. But things have started to cool off in 2022, and since then, per-mile rates have been plunging at the fastest pace on record.

By November, prices were already nearing pre-pandemic levels. On the other hand, higher maintenance prices, as well as an increase in the cost of capital, and other difficulties in operating have resulted in a brutal mix for a notoriously cyclical industry — one that has the potential to be worse than famous trucking downturns experienced in 2019 and in 2008-09.

Today, instead of a shortage, the freight market is flooded with thousands of small-scale owner-operators and carriers of all sizes. But the threat of a deep recession is now reducing demand for goods, and as a result, cargo volumes are plunging all over the US. On top of that, data provided by Freight Waves shows that the per-mile rate fell to $1.49. At the peak of the boom in 2021, drivers were pulling in as much as $3.01 per mile. This means that freight rates declined by 52% so far, and could go even lower in the months ahead.

This means that there is far less money to be made in the sector. For those who made high investments to be able to enter the industry and profit from the boom, this may be just the beginning of a financial disaster. Since December, thousands of small carriers have revoked their operating authority, and bankruptcies started to arise in the truckload industry.

To make things worse, a recent CNBC supply chain survey that analyzed inventories and warehouse space tracked a decrease in truck movements in and out of the warehouse, revealed that ocean freight orders are down 50% year over year and that will keep impacting both rail and road Transportation in the short and long run, with trucking executives calling it “freight recession.”This along with a 40% decrease in manufacturing orders, are very bad news for the freight market.

The economic recession that is now upon us is going to shake entire industries to the core, millions of layoffs are expected, and economic and financial uncertainty will only grow worse. The crisis that is now unfolding before us will be unlike anything we’ve ever experienced, and the freight market meltdown is just one of the multiple indicators that something is terribly wrong in our system and that the dominoes have already started to fall.

America’s Infrastructure Is Falling Apart, as Evidenced by Water Supply and Power Grid Failures https://americanconservativemovement.com/americas-infrastructure-is-falling-apart-as-evidenced-by-water-supply-and-power-grid-failures/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/americas-infrastructure-is-falling-apart-as-evidenced-by-water-supply-and-power-grid-failures/#comments Fri, 09 Sep 2022 22:54:47 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=180517 Editor’s Commentary: On today’s episode of The JD Rucker Show, I discussed this story below by Kevin Hughes over at Natural News. While it’s clear that between water and electrical grid failures we are starting to enter a very troubling time in America, it’s important to remember that we MUST take charge of our own future. That means breaking away from dependence on government as much as possible, even for expected services like utilities.

Some can get off the grid. Others can only supplement and reduce their dependency. Either way, it’s important that we start tackling this problem as self-reliant individual American citizens immediately. Here’s my show followed by the article by Kevin Hughes…

America’s infrastructure is falling apart, as evidenced by the water shortage in Mississippi and the power grid failure in California.

Residents of Jackson, Mississippi waited in line to obtain water for drinking, bathing, cooking and flushing toilets on Aug. 31 after its water system failed due to the Pearl River’s flooding. A news release from the city said the main water-treatment plant had “challenges with water chemistry,” leading to a dip in water output and a significant drop in water pressure. Prior to the water service disruption, the 150,000 residents of Jackson had been boiling their drinking water as officials warned it could lead to digestive issues.

A day before, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said repairing the city’s water system could run to “quite possibly billions of dollars.” He pointed to short staffing and “decades of deferred maintenance” as the culprits for the water system’s deterioration.

Jackson’s predicament is similar to other cities, as it faces water system trouble it can’t afford to repair. Its tax base has crumbled the last few decades as the population declined. The city’s populace is now more than 80 percent Black, with about 25 percent of its people living in poverty.

The state and federal government came to the rescue of Jackson, the Magnolia State’s capital. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced a state of emergency for Jackson’s water system on Aug. 30, while President Joe Biden authorized an emergency declaration for the state on the same day.

The following day, Biden called Lumumba to talk about response efforts involving the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers. The president also expressed intent to give Jackson’s aging water infrastructure much-needed federal support.

Meanwhile, Reeves said the state will try to aid Jackson by hiring contractors to work at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant. The facility, which was the root of Jackson’s water miseries, had been operating at reduced capacity with backup pumps after the principal pumps failed. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency later posted footage of an emergency rental pump being installed in the water treatment facility on Twitter.

California power grid on the brink of collapse

Meanwhile, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) circulated a level 1 energy emergency alert quickly after tapping all its accessible power supplies.

Californians, despite prior warnings to decrease usage, decided to charge their electric vehicles. This subsequently drove demand beyond capacity. (Related: Blackout risk in California: EV owners told to avoid charging their vehicles or the power grid might collapse.)

“It is pretty clear Mother Nature has outrun us. The reality is we’re living in an age of extremes – extreme heat, extreme drought,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom stated during a news conference. He also released an executive order on Aug. 31 to free up emergency power supplies.

Officials urged residents to reduce power use between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. as temperatures rose beyond 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The heat presents the largest test to the grid since the summer of 2020, when rotating outages overwhelmed parts of the state.

DARK TIMES: Industry and Infrastructure Collapsing by the Day Across Europe and the USA https://americanconservativemovement.com/dark-times-industry-and-infrastructure-collapsing-by-the-day-across-europe-and-the-usa/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/dark-times-industry-and-infrastructure-collapsing-by-the-day-across-europe-and-the-usa/#comments Tue, 06 Sep 2022 02:09:34 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=180242 In yet another truly astonishing announcement that demonstrates the desperation of this hour, German steelmaker ArcelorMittal, one of the largest steel production facilities in Europe, has shuttered operations due to high energy prices. (See their announcement here, in German.)

“With gas and electricity prices increasing tenfold within just a few months, we are no longer competitive in a market that is 25% supplied by imports,” said CEO Reiner Blaschek.

This comes after announced closures of aluminum smelters, copper smelters and ammonia production plants over the last few weeks. Ammonia — necessary for fertilizer — is now 70% offline in the EU.

Adding to the misery, in just the last 24 hours, Russia announced a complete ban on natural gas exports to Europe until the West’s economic sanctions are lifted. This means the Nord Stream 1 pipeline is now shuttered for the foreseeable future, since delusional NATO countries are incapable of correcting their errors and backing down from Russia.

With steel and other industrial metals also offline, one wonders how Western Europe is supposed to function over the next six months of winter:

  • No steel = No industry (or industry jobs)
  • No fertilizer = No food
  • No natural gas = No electricity or heat

In essence, three of the pillars that allow a modern society to function are being severely crippled by economic sanctions and sky-high energy prices across Europe.

And it’s only the first week of September. The cold weather hasn’t even arrived yet. No matter how much natural gas is already stored for the winter, Europeans are facing both sky-high costs and scarcity on a level that hasn’t been experienced since World War II.

There simply isn’t enough energy available to power European cities and heat all the buildings this winter, and there’s not enough food in the pipeline to feed everyone in 2023, either. Take that, Putin!

California’s rolling blackouts may begin today

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting today that rolling blackouts may begin in California this evening. There’s simply not enough electricity to meet demand, so thousands of homes and businesses are going to be forcefully disconnected from the power grid. This is after the state begging electric vehicle owners to avoid charging their EVs from 4 – 9 pm. (Question: What happens if millions more Californians buy electric vehicles and plug them in?)

Via the Chronicle:

State officials anticipate needing 48,817 megawatts of electricity Monday, which would leave the state with a 2,000 to 4,000 megawatt deficit, according to the California Independent System Operator.

Ruh-roh. It turns out that dismantling the power grid infrastructure in order to appease left-wing greenies doesn’t keep the lights on. This must be incredibly confusing to the Leftists, given that they thought if all fossil fuels were shut down, a magical utopia would spontaneously emerge. Instead, they’ll be burning candles, cranking wind-up radios and crapping in buckets when the water towers run dry due to lack of electricity for the water pumps.

Welcome to Collapsifornia.

To combat the rising prices of electricity and food, Gov. Newsom has just signed a bill requiring fast food restaurants to pay as much as $22 / hour to workers. This is going to bankrupt many restaurants in California, worsening the lack of food options and job opportunities for locals. Via the WSJ:

“You can’t charge enough for food to offset what will happen from a labor perspective,” said Greg Flynn, president of Flynn Restaurant Group, which operates franchise brands in 44 states and owns 105 restaurants in California.

Mr. Flynn says he donated to Newsom’s political campaigns. It turns out you always get the tyranny you support. As long as oblivious Californians keep voting for Democrats, they’re going to continue collapsing into destitution and authoritarianism.

Where are all the people in Jackson, Mississippi crapping?

Don’t forget that the entire municipal water system has failed in Jackson, Mississippi, meaning there’s no water to flush toilets. It begs the question: Where are all the people crapping there?

If they’re crapping in the toilets, they have to hand-carry water to flush them. Where are they getting all that water?

Or maybe they’re crapping in buckets and tossing the contents in the back yard. That’s going to create a nightmare for the Health Dept and some interesting conversations among neighbors, especially when it rains again.

How are businesses functioning in the city if there are no working toilets? When locals need to get together for a meeting, do they ask to meet at the corner of Cholera and E.Coli? Seriously, at what point does all the feces become a public health issue reminiscent of a collapsed Third World nation like Haiti?

It’s all breaking down

All by design, globalists are decimating the pillars of civilization in order to cause collapse and depopulation. They are attacking:

  • Food
  • Energy
  • Health (vaccines, bioweapons)
  • Supply chains
  • Finance
  • Elections (massive rigging / mules)
  • Liberty and self-defense
  • Weather / geoengineering

The overarching goal is to exterminate the vast majority of the human population, then enslave the survivors.

The oblivious masses are going along with it, having no clue that if they took multiple covid jabs, they’re probably already dead.
