The state simply does not have the resources to handle all of this now that their National Guard is overseas.

The task force of over 700 members of the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment left Saturday morning. According to Hoodline:

The deployment reflects the U.S. military’s continuing role in building partnerships and promoting self-reliance in the Middle East. By maintaining a military presence, conducting exercises, and fostering defense relationships, the Tennessee soldiers aim to strengthen regional security.

Add this to the growing list of poor Middle East decisions by the Biden-Harris regime.

The Secretary of the Army lied and claimed he made calls to the National Guard, but he did not.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser were warned about the security situation before January 6th. Despite that, they refused troops at the US Capitol that day for political reasons.

Chris Wray’s FBI also refused to notify the Trump administration and his cabinet secretaries that they believed there could be violence like the mass protests at the Capitol that took place that day.

John Solomon from Just The News revealed Capitol Police were first warned about possible violence at the January 6th protests two weeks before the planned rallies.

They allowed the event to get out of hand so they could call it an insurrection and charge and arrest hundreds of people, mostly people who were let in by police or who walked in and out.

Captain Timothy Nick of the Army National Guard is one of the J6 whistleblowers.

“I was concerned by the event that unfolded that day in the United States Capitol. As a Federal Officer of the United States Secret Service and former state trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, my heart goes out to all law-enforcement officers, sisters, and brothers that held the line that day to restore public order to the chaos.

“I’m here today with my Counsel, Laughlin, McKillen, and Dan Meyer …has advised me, beginning with my role as a confidential source of the Select Committee to investigate the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

“When my confidentiality was breached, it was Dan who intervened to ensure I was protected as a military whistleblower on January 6. First, I want to explain my role on January 6. I was assigned as aide de camp, the personal assistant to major general, William Walker, the Commanding General of the DC National Guard.

“It was my only second day on the job. Please focus on alleged facts about found in the November 16, 2021, Department of Defense Inspector General’s multi-disciplinary review into the DC National Guard response and Department of Defenses role that day.

“I can say unequivocally that the inspector general’s review is riddled with inaccuracies, misstatements, perhaps false flags and narratives regarding how critical Pentagon senior officials responded when our Republic was under great stress.

“For instance, during a conference call at 2:31 pm with members of the United States Army, US Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police, the Department of District of Columbia government, and USC Service Uniform Division, US Army Lieutenant General Walter Director Pyatt, and US Army staff and the Army” Lieutenant General Charles Flynn, Director of the Chief of staff of Army Operations were on the call. Also on the call was Colonel John Lewis, Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Army.

“The Army falsely denied that General Flynn was ever on the call. This is false, immaterial on its face.

“Lieutenant Flynn was on the call and even participated in discussions. The Defense Inspector’s review also rounds language papering over the fact that Lt. Gen. Pyatt, Lt. Gen. Flynn, while on the call, discussed how they did not like the optics. That is a direct quote.

“And they stated it would be best military advice to recommend to the Secretary of the Army. Ryan McCarthy to deny request from Command General William Walker to deploy the DC National Guard and aid US Capitol Police and restore restoration order and border liberty on Capital Hill.

“In addition, former Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy claims he was on a 2:31 PM call and spoke on that call. This is false unless he was in the room, shadowing the call and he did not speak nor identify himself. He was not on the call.

“He was in route to Washington DC Regional Office at the Federal Investigations to support that concept of operation plan for January 6.

“He went on to claim that he called and spoke to Major General Walker at least twice, ordering the deployment in the DC National Guard. This is also false. At no time did General Walker take any calls, nor did we ever hear from the Secretary about any ongoing conference calls or the secure video teleconferencing throughout the day.

“This I know because I was with the Command General the entire time recording events throughout the day.

“Major General Walker told my staff officers to stand by with respect to deploy to the Capitol Hill. Only at 5:09 PM in the early evening, which I wrote down in my wheel book was the DC Guard given orders to deploy, move to assist Capitol Police.

“We arrived too late with one American lay dead with other sisters and brothers injured, including federal and local law enforcement officers. We were ready and standing by. I know if we were ready to deploy immediately when General Walker made the request, the National Guard could’ve helped in civil disturbance to restore order quickly.

“The Army National Guard motto was Always Ready, Always There. The DC National Guard was ready to help assist Capitol police, but we were not allowed to do our job due to paralyzed decision-making by Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller and Secretary of the Army, Brian McCarthy. This led to a crisis in federal leadership in the Pentagon. This led to a crisis in federal leadership at the Pentagon and delayed the DC  by three hours and 19 minutes. Thank you for the opportunity to appear before you today and articulate the facts as they happen.”

Without a doubt, it will certainly be a historic event.

As I have discussed previously, it is being projected that it will be the most viewed astronomical event in the entire history of our country.

And virtually everyone in North America will be able to view at least a partial eclipse…

Almost everyone on the continent will see at least a bit of the eclipse. The further away you are from the path, the less of the eclipse you’ll see.

Even in places like Seattle and Portland, Oregon, which are far from the path, about one-third of the sun will be hidden.

On April 8th, millions of Americans will be traveling to locations where they will be in the path of the total solar eclipse.  Oklahoma is being touted as one of the best states for that, and it is being reported that the Oklahoma National Guard “will provide first responders as well as units with hazmat response capabilities”…

Oklahoma’s National Guard is set to be deployed for the upcoming total solar eclipse, when as many as 100,000 people are expected to visit one county.

In a statement on Tuesday, the guard said it would assist emergency management to cope with “an unprecedented number of tourists” on April 8 in McCurtain County, in the southeast of the state.

The guard will provide first responders as well as units with hazmat response capabilities in case of an incident like an industrial fire.

I can understand that they feel the need to be prepared.

But bringing in the National Guard is overkill, don’t you think?

Residents of Oklahoma are being urged to “stock up on gas and groceries” prior to the eclipse, and they are also being instructed to have “multiple forms of communication besides cellular”…

To prepare for the eclipse, the state laid out some tips to plan ahead.

Oklahomans should schedule errands and appointments a few days in advance before the eclipse as well as stock up on gas and groceries. The state also recommends having multiple forms of communication besides cellular, being careful on the road and staying updated on weather conditions.

Seriously?

They want people to do all this for an eclipse that is only going to last for a few minutes?

Actually, Oklahoma is not the only state that is issuing such warnings.  According to a Newsweek article entitled “Map Shows Warnings for People to Stock Up on Food Ahead of Solar Eclipse”, at least four states have now warned their citizens to stock up on food…

At least four states within the path of totality have urged residents to stock up on groceries before the eclipse. Some officials have already issued disaster declarations ahead of the event, and some schools have decided to close, citing student safety.

Texas officials have issued a slew of warnings, including that people living within the path of totality should stock up on groceries and gas and run any errands—such as filling prescriptions—in the days before the eclipse. One official also urged pet owners to stock up on supplies for their animals.

I realize that the areas that are in the direct path of the total eclipse are anticipating large numbers of visitors, but it feels like authorities are really going overboard.

Just look at what officials in Hays County, Texas are telling their residents to do…

• Parking issues – lack of parking, fees for parking, having to park and walk to your destination (Please park only in designated areas and not on private property or in areas that cause safety issues)

• Traffic delays and road closures

• Longer wait times for restaurants (consider cooking at “home” instead or bring a small cooler with ready-to-eat food)

• More congestion (pedestrian and vehicles)

• Delayed emergency/911 response

• Cell service interruptions/lack of service

• Higher than normal stress levels and/or heated tempers

• Credit card machines not working (bring cash)

Why would credit card machines not work?

And why would phone service be interrupted?

I don’t understand.

In Arkansas, they actually held a “live training exercise” that simulated emergencies that might happen during the eclipse…

With less than a month remaining before the Great American Solar Eclipse, the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) took a significant step by conducting a live training exercise. This exercise was designed to test ADEM’s response to issues that may arise as visitors flock to Arkansas to witness the event. ADEM responders and other state agencies looked at possible scenarios, such as severe weather, traffic, medical emergencies, and communication challenges.

Taking part in the exercise were county emergency managers and representatives of the National Weather Service, Arkansas National Guard, Corps of Engineers, Arkansas Hospital Association, Arkansas Wireless Information Network, and Arkansas Departments of Health, Transportation, Energy and Environment and Human Services.

Personally, I am not expecting a major disaster or emergency on the day of the eclipse.

But you never know, I could be wrong.

And it is certainly inevitable that there will be a lot more “surprises” as this year rolls along.

In fact, during his recent interview with Tucker Carlson, former U.S. Representative Ron Paul specifically warned about the potential for a black swan event…

Ron Paul, recognized for his consistent principles and foresight into economic and foreign policy, used the platform to express his concerns about unexpected, significant events that could catch the world by surprise.

“I think we’re reaching this point where some sudden thing is going to happen. I believe in that theory of the black swan. Yes, it’s going to pop up, and it’s not going to be controllable,” Paul said.

I don’t think that there will be a black swan event on April 8th.

But this eclipse will be a very big deal.

The giant “X” over America that the Great American Eclipse of 2017 started will be completed by the Great American Eclipse of 2024.

And as the Great American Eclipse of 2024 moves across our nation, the sun, the moon and the other seven planets in our solar system will all be lined up in the sky.

Our entire solar system is literally screaming that this day is important, and you would think that more people would be talking about the giant “X” that is about to be completed directly over the New Madrid fault zone.

Sadly, most of the population will quickly forget about this eclipse once it has passed, and that is extremely unfortunate.

Abbott did so in the face of the deliberate and intentional inaction by the Biden administration to make sure the border stays open so millions of illegal aliens could continue to flood across from Mexico.

Under the circumstances, any such move by the president would be an abuse of the applicable law.

A number of federal statutes govern the National Guard, which is the modern equivalent of state militias and a reserve component of our military. Under 10 U.S.C. § 12301(a), the secretary of defense (and thus the president) is given the authority in “time of war or of national emergency declared by Congress, or when otherwise authorized by law” to order National Guard units to active duty.

But they cannot be called to active duty by the president “without the consent of the governor of the State.” If the governor consents, the unit called into federal service under Title 10 reports to the president as the commander in chief while in federal service.

State governors, however, like Abbott, remain the commanders in chief of their state National Guard units, such as the Texas National Guard, unless they have consented to the president’s call for those units to be in active federal service.

The only exception to the consent requirement is contained in subsection (f) and it only applies if National Guard units are needed for active duty for overseas service—such as when we were in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Thus, under this statute, without the consent of Abbott, Biden has no power to simply seize control of the Texas National Guard as he is being urged to do and order them to stand down, since we are not in a war and the Guard is not needed for service abroad.

Biden could go to the extreme by trying to use the Insurrection Act of 1807 to take over the Texas National Guard. The Insurrection Act authorizes the president to federalize the National Guard under certain narrow and exceptional circumstances. The last time it was invoked was by President George W. Bush to help quell the deadly widespread riots in 1992 in Los Angeles after the arrest and beating of Rodney King, when state authorities were unable to cope with the violence and mayhem.

Under 10 U.S.C. § 252, the president can “call into Federal service the militia of any State” when “unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any state by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings.”

Clearly, there is no insurrection going on in Texas as defined in that law.

Nor is Texas violating any court order issued in “the ordinary court of judicial proceedings.” The state has been placing barbed-wire fencing on state-owned and private property, and no court has ordered Texas to remove or cease installing that fencing.

The only thing that has happened is that the U.S. Supreme Court vacated—while the case between Texas and the federal government is on appeal—an injunction that prevented the feds from removing the fencing. But nothing prevents Texas from continuing to put in more fencing, even after it has been removed.

Biden would also be hard-pressed to legitimately use another part of the Insurrection Act, 10 U.S.C. § 253, which allows a president to use a state militia (the National Guard) if an insurrection or domestic violence “hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States.”

It is Texas that is trying to ensure that federal laws are being enforced and complied with. And it is the Biden administration that is “hindering” the execution of the laws of the United States with its abject refusal to enforce our immigration laws, to prevent illegal aliens from crossing the border, and its unlawful granting of mass parole to those aliens once they are in the United States.

If Biden tries to call forth the Texas National Guard, the most likely federal statute for him to try to use, according to a source familiar with National Guard operations, is 10 U.S.C. § 12406. This provision allows the president to “call into Federal service” the National Guard under one of three circumstances: an “invasion by a foreign nation”; “a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States”; or the president’s inability “with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.”

The fatuous argument that Biden would have to make is that Texas is engaged in a rebellion against the authority of the United States or some such other rubbish. But as already noted, there has been no rebellion by Texas and no court order of any kind finding that Texas is somehow violating federal law or refusing to comply with federal courts.

The third precondition obviously also does not apply. A claim that any of these preconditions have been met would be met with derision.

Instead of carrying out his duty as president to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,” which includes our immigration laws, Biden has violated his oath of office and is acting like a bully to violate the law, threaten states like Texas that are faced with a desperate situation, and thwart the will of the people who want a secure border and the rising tide of illegal immigration stopped.

If the Biden administration would spend as much time fighting illegal immigration as it does fighting border states that are actually trying to do something about the problem, we might begin to see some progress. But don’t hold your breath.

The additional CalGuard personnel will be deployed in five ports of entry along the southern border: Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, Tecate, Calexico East and Calexico West.

As the opioid crisis continues to take a heavy toll on American lives, with over 150 people dying from overdose and poisoning caused by synthetic opioids like fentanyl each day, Newsom’s “Master Plan for Tackling the Fentanyl and Opioid Crisis” includes the involvement of CalGuard in supporting federal, state and local law enforcement in counter-narcotics investigations and operations. (Related: Data shows fentanyl addiction is the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 49.)

“Fentanyl is a deadly poison ripping families and communities apart,” Newsom declared in a statement on Sept. 7. “California is cracking down — and today we’re going further by deploying more CalGuard soldiers to combat this crisis and keep our communities safe.”

According to Maj. Gen. Matthew P. Beevers of the California Military Department, who oversees a dual federal and state military reserve force, including 367 CalGuard service members, the number of guards will increase from 40 to 60 soldiers based on the estimation that 65 percent of the narcotics supply in the U.S. enters through the California border.

With a proposed budget of $30 million, the expanded CalGuard deployment seeks to further support federal narcotics search operations. This investment seeks to expand the existing anti-drug programs and support High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas programs.

CalGuardsmen will assist with secondary vehicle inspections and x-rays of smuggled narcotics inside suspected trafficking vehicles. Given the additional deployment, vehicle X-rays will now operate nearly around the clock to increase the number of vehicles screened for narcotics.

At a press conference, Beevers highlighted the reported success of the CalGuard in assisting law enforcement in seizing over 11,763 pounds of fentanyl this year alone. Last year, the total fentanyl seizures in California reached 28,765 pounds, a 594 percent increase in fentanyl seizures with an estimated street value of more than $230 million.

GOP lawmakers, coalition of grieving parents demand harsher punishment for drug dealers

As Newsom deals with the never-ending fentanyl crisis, Republican lawmakers and a coalition of grieving parents have demanded harsher punishment for drug dealers.

The punishment, known as the “Alexandra’s Law,” was initially introduced by Democratic Sen. Tom Umberg, but it was struck down by the public safety committee of the Senate in April. However, Republican Assemblywoman Diane Dixon subsequently reintroduced the law in June and proposed it as a ballot initiative that would amend the constitution of California.

Currently, the proposed “Alexandra’s Law” requires courts to warn fentanyl dealers that they could be charged with murder if their drugs lead to fatal overdoses. Republican members of the California Assembly tried to push for a vote on this law.

Meanwhile, a separate initiative launched by a group of parents affiliated with “Stop Fentanyl Dealers” and drafted by Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire seeks to hold fentanyl dealers more accountable by imposing more brutal prison sentences.

Gire’s office achieved a significant milestone by securing the first murder conviction for a fentanyl-related death in the state. However, the group needs to gather 650,000 signatures from Californians if they wish to place their initiative on the November 2021 ballot. In short, this fight against fentanyl still has a long way to go.

Karolina Stancik once considered herself “very healthy,” playing multiple sports from adolescence through early adulthood. At 21 years old, she chose to serve the country by joining the U.S. Army in February 2021.

“We were told that it was going to be required and we should take it before we shipped out to basic training,” she said, which was before Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s August 2021 announcement of the military vaccine mandate.

This messaging, according to Stancik, made the new recruits feel like, “You’re a bad person if you don’t get the vaccine, and you don’t care about the people around you.”

“As a young, new soldier, I and a lot of others around me, did what we were told,” Stancik said.

“We were too new to know all the rules and possible loopholes,” she added. ” I pretty much blindly took it because I didn’t know you could get exemptions” for medical or religious reasons.

Stancik ended up taking the Moderna vaccine in March and April 2021; since then, “life has been an uphill battle,” she said.

First, came the breathing issues.

“I was dealing with what doctors considered asthma at the time without a diagnosis, and I had never had any lung issues at any other point in my life,” she said.

Stancik also experienced what felt like a cold or sinus infection, pressure in her head, and dizziness.

Next came a fever, as well as numbness and tingling throughout her body. But she was told by a doctor that these symptoms were normal.

At one point, her command threatened to accuse her of insubordination for not participating in physical training. However, “a doctor’s order kept me from getting in trouble with my command,” she said. The Epoch Times viewed that order, as well as other medical documentation and Stancik’s Army permanent medical profile to corroborate her claims.

Problems with visual processing and what she described as neurological issues began in October 2021. These included numbness, tingling, stabbing pains throughout her body, loss of motor function, tremors, and more.

“It all progressively got worse, and never stopped,” Stancik said.

In October 2021, she found herself in an emergency room, following her first heart attack. Things only escalated after that as she started experiencing nausea, a high heart rate, stabbing pains, and blacking out, she said. In February 2022, she had a second heart attack.

In addition to these two heart attacks, Stancik said she’s been diagnosed with severe asthma and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a blood circulation disorder that causes a higher heart rate when transitioning from sitting or lying down to standing up.

In November 2022, her doctor told her she had “signs of a mini-stroke,” she said. After that incident and the onset of impaired eyesight, she was finally advised to see a neurologist. She’s now waiting for the results of tests for neuropathy, dysautonomia, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and others.

Stancik’s neurological problems have continued this year.

“As I wait for results about my neurological issues, I’m also experiencing increasing problems with my visual processing,” she said.

With health issues on the rise, she said, “Half together is put together for me right now.”

Medical Care Costs on the Rise

Meanwhile, TRICARE, the military medical system, is no longer paying her medical bills because the Army has removed her from active duty.

“The bills are stacking up,” she said. “I’m getting billed for everything that follows my active-duty service.”

In February 2022, Stancik was recommended for medical retirement and is awaiting a determination.

There have been recurring costs of bloodwork analysis, doctor’s visits, and cardiology care, for example. She’s also being billed for neurology appointments.

“For cardiology, I was getting billed $225 for every single visit, so I had to stop going so often.”

Online donations help to offset some of her medical care costs.

“The experience has left me feeling pissed off, sad, and discouraged at times, but I know I’m not the only who took the vaccine and who is suffering,” she said. “My duty now, while I have the capacity to do it, is to speak out for those who need to be spoken for.

“Many soldiers were injured by the vaccine, and the Army just doesn’t care,” she said. “And because of this, I’m suppressing my anger to turn it into something positive to be a voice for them.”

Stancik says that her views don’t reflect those of the Department of Defense or the Department of the Army. Moderna and Army officials didn’t respond by press time to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.

The bill sponsored by Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn would ban federal funds from being used to implement the requirement, which effects up to 40,000 unvaccinated National Guard members.

Blackburn told the Daily Caller that firing the members would threaten national security.

“Our service members are the bedrock of America,” she said. “Firing 40,000 Guardsmen for refusing the COVID vaccine would be both a complete disgrace and a threat to our national security. I am honored to stand beside our National Guardsmen and women by introducing this legislation to protect them from President Biden’s forever pandemic.”

Republican Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas, a physician, noted on Twitter that President Biden “is allowing illegal immigrants of unknown vax status to invade our country every day but is still willing to fire up to 40,000 American heroes.”

Members of the Tennessee National Guard who faced discharge spoke at a rally in Nashville on Thursday, pleading with Republican Gov. Bill Lee to take action, including suing the federal government, if necessary, Stars and Stripes reported.

Several dozen Guard members, their families and friends delivered a petition to Lee’s office at the capitol.

“On June 30, hundreds of your Tennessee National Guard soldiers – under an illegal, improper order by the Biden administration’s Department of Defense in defiance of natural law and the United States Constitution – are scheduled to be dismissed from service due to refusal to accept a COVID-19 vaccination,” the petition states.

“It is your duty before God and the citizens of the great state of Tennessee, sir, to help these men and women. Please stop them from being fired, sir!”

Lt. Gen. Jon Jensen, director of the Army National Guard, said in an Associated Press interview that the military brass will “give every soldier every opportunity to get vaccinated and continue their military career.”

“Every soldier that is pending an exemption, we will continue to support them through their process,” he said. “We’re not giving up on anybody until the separation paperwork is signed and completed. There’s still time.”

Biden press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would not answer questions regarding the mandate and referred the Daily Caller to the Army. The Department of Defense did not immediately respond.
