(DCNF)—House Republicans’ quest to preserve their slim majority will likely be dependent on the outcomes of four New York races with GOP incumbents in previously pro-Biden districts engaged in tough reelection fights.
Democrats need to flip just four Republican-held seats to retake control of the House, and party operatives are zeroing in on a group of freshman lawmakers representing competitive New York districts as prime pick-up opportunities. Though these Republican incumbents have faced voter registration and fundraising deficits in addition to running in a presidential election year that could see increased turnout, the campaigns and GOP operatives are optimistic that all of the Republican incumbent candidates in tight races will prevail on election day, according to interviews with campaign officials and written statements given to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The incumbents — New York Republican Reps. Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro and Brandon Williams — must also overcome another challenge: President Joe Biden won the districts they represent by comfortable margins in 2020. Each candidate won by less than five points during the 2022 midterms, which saw New York Republican candidates make historic gains.
In D’Esposito’s Long Island district, Biden beat former President Donald Trump by more than 14 points in 2020, making the district the most pro-Biden seat in the country held by a Republican running for reelection.
In 2022, D’Esposito won New York’s fourth district by a four-point margin against his opponent, former Hempstead Town supervisor Laura Gillen, with the two set for a rematch in November. A Siena College poll from Oct. 13-17 showed Gillen ahead by 12 points in the contest.
D’Esposito’s campaign argued to the DCNF that the Siena College poll has “fundamental flaws” because the polling occurred during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and failed to get an accurate sample of Jewish voters, which the campaign believes overwhelmingly support him.
“In a district with a large Jewish population, the pollster interviewed people during significant Jewish holy days. In fact, a large segment of the Jewish population don’t use electronic devices at this time. If Siena’s numbers were even close to accurate, Democrats would not be spending tens of millions of dollars to defeat D’Esposito while totally neglecting a statistical dead heat (according to Siena’s data) in the adjacent district, NY-1,” Matt Capp, spokesman for the D’Esposito campaign, added.
A poll conducted between Oct. 11 and 19 by Gotham Polling & Analytics has D’Esposito up by one point, with 6% of voters undecided. Capp told the DCNF that local opposition to the influx of migrants in New York City, the recently-tabled congestion pricing program and offshore wind are keeping this district in play for Republicans.
“The New York races have the advantage in that the Democratic Party has almost destroyed the state,” New York Republican consultant Bill O’Reilly told the DCNF. “We’re feeling it in taxes, in crime, in the migrant chaos.”
“There’s a built-in inclination to go Republican this time,” O’Reilly added.
Gillen has also outraised D’Esposito by more than $700,000, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. Cook Political Report designates the race as a “toss-up.”
O’Reilly pointed to Lawler as the candidate most likely to prevail among the four incumbents despite running in a district that Biden won by more than ten points in 2020 and being outraised by roughly $1.3 million by his opponent, former Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones of New York, according to FEC filings. O’Reilly served as the spokesperson for Lawler’s 2022 campaign.
“He has worked that district incredibly hard. He’s a classic example of someone who’s differentiated himself,” O’Reilly told the DCNF. “He’s a bipartisan guy. He works hard, he talks to everybody. He’s in the district like he said. He’s done the work to make himself known.”
Despite the most recent independent polling showing Lawler up by just one point, O’Reilly told the DCNF that Lawler’s internal polling has the candidate up by higher margins. The Cook Political Report changed the rating from “toss-up” to “lean Republican” on Oct. 25.
O’Reilly also told the DCNF that Lawler’s condemnation of anti-Israel protests at Columbia University over the past year and support for Israel in the country’s war against Hamas is likely to pay dividends in a district that has one of the highest percentages of Jewish voters in the country.
“Jewish voters in the 17th Congressional District and across the country will have a decisive impact on how elections play out across the country,” Chris Russell, spokesman for Lawler’s campaign, told the DCNF. “Orthodox, Reform, Conservative and Hasidic voters all want a few basic things in life — safe neighborhoods, good schools and a strong economy. Republicans provide winning arguments on all of those issues, and that’s why Jewish voters will be supporting candidates like Mike Lawler this November.”
Roll Call designated Williams as the most vulnerable member of the House running for reelection due to redistricting changes that made the Republican incumbent’s central New York district more Democratic. He leads his opponent, New York state senator John Mannion, by one point in the Williams campaign’s most recent internal poll. The Cook Political Report designates the race as “lean Democrat.”
Taylor Weyneth, a Williams campaign official, told the DCNF that their focus is not on the presidential ticket but on Albany and the “disastrous policies” pushed by state Democratic lawmakers and signed into law by New York governor Kathy Hochul.
“We’re running against Albany because we’re running against a New York state senator who was there for all of these disastrous policy decisions and has to own that record,” Weyneth told the DCNF. “Our opponent — he voted to give taxpayer-funded free health care to illegal immigrants and called voters ‘ignorant’ for being concerned about the migrant crisis impacting their community.”
Weyneth also told the DCNF that the campaign is feeling optimistic due to strong early voting numbers from registered Republicans. “We’re feeling confident and onward to victory,” Weyneth added.
O’Reilly described Molinaro, the 2018 New York Republican nominee for governor who now represents the Hudson Valley, as a “fighter.” Molinaro is currently in a brutal reelection contest and trails his Democratic opponent, Josh Riley, by four points in the latest polling. Molinaro beat Riley by less than two points in 2022.
The Molinaro-Riley rematch is the most expensive House race in New York, with more than $25 million worth of political ads on track to air.
“This race is about priorities,” Molinaro told the DCNF. “I’m for securing our border and putting Upstate New Yorkers first, my opponent Josh Riley supports keeping the border open and giving taxpayer-funded perks like credit cards and hotels to illegal immigrants.”
The Cook Political Report rates Molinaro’s reelection bid as a “toss-up.”
New York House Republicans, led by Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, are also trying to flip a competitive seat in the mid-Hudson Valley held by Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan.
The Republican candidate, Alison Esposito, ran as the Republican nominee for New York’s lieutenant governor in 2022. The most recent independent polling from early October shows Esposito trailing Ryan by five points. The projected outcome for the Esposito-Ryan contest is “lean-Democrat,” according to Cook Political Report.
“Alison’s message of supporting law enforcement, securing our border, creating jobs, strengthening the economy, and defending our allies is resonating across NY-18,” Ben Weiner, spokesman for the Esposito campaign, told the DCNF. “Since beginning our campaign over a year ago, we’ve heard from Hudson Valley residents across the district who are ready for change. They know Pat Ryan is on the wrong side of every issue and are ready to send a common sense leader to D.C. That’s why Alison is surging in the polls and within striking distance of Pat Ryan.
“We are confident that we have the momentum and the winning message to flip NY-18 and secure a victory on election night,” Weiner added.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., the former head football coach at Auburn University, the University of Mississippi, Texas Tech, and the University of Cincinnati, made the statement on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo.
“He told me a year ago, Maria, when we were playing golf one day. He says, ‘Coach, I’m going to have a great chance of winning New York.’ I said, ‘You’ve lost your mind.’ He goes, ‘You wait and see. We’re going to work New York hard, we’re gonna get the people and tell people the truth about what’s happening, and we’re going to clean our city and our states up around the country, and New York’s going to be one of them.’ So, hey, he’s giving it a run for it, and I think he’s got a good chance.”

— WorldNetDaily (@worldnetdaily) October 27, 2024
“Wow, that is incredible, if he were to take New York,” Bartiromo responded, as she noted large crowds of Trump fans waiting outside Madison Square Garden in New York City for a Trump campaign rally scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
New York has most often voted for the more liberal candidate in U.S. elections, and has been a safe haven for Democrats since the 1988 contest, with former President Ronald Reagan being the last Republican to take the Empire State in 1984, when he won a 49-state landslide.
Bartiromo then asked Tuberville, who also sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee: “Do you think you could do a Republican sweep here?”
“I think we could – it’s going to be very close,” he replied.
“Again, I don’t know much about the House. I think the Senate – I think we’re going to get 51-54 seats in the Senate, just the work that I’ve seen over the last four or five months. And, of course, President Trump, he’s run a very the strong campaign the last three weeks, Maria.”
“He’s got to win. Our country is in such tailspin. The people that say they might not vote for Trump is the young people, and they’re voting against their future. I don’t understand that.
“I’ve been trying to tell all these young people across the country your future is at stake if you don’t elect somebody that believes in America, and believes in the Constitution like President Trump, you’re gonna have a tough time in life. So, looking forward to working, hopefully, with a lot of these young kids and getting them to vote for President Trump.”

]]>A civil rights attorney, Sujata Gibson, who represents New York plaintiffs who challenge vaccine mandates, calls this new legislation a “Trojan Horse” that paves the way for broader mandates, saying “The only reason to know every single vaccine given to adults in New York is to know who did not get them.” That type of database would be the “central nervous system” she said, for what would surely amount to a “state-wide digital vaccine passport system.”
If you did not recognize it, Big Pharma’s main goal of the whole pandemic was to get as many people injected with cell-mutating mRNA “technology” as possible, then you got swept up by the vax cult frenzy, like 270 million other Americans. The mad, mad push is far from over, even though the “novel” virus still barely lingers, supposedly. In New York, right now, vaccine-cult legislators are trying to get everybody on a database, vaccinated or not, so they can plan better for the next “plandemic.”
You see, vaccines aren’t just about giving kids autism and adults mercury poisoning. That was not enough for the genocide movement underway. So scientists came up with mRNA, and now New York is leading the charge to try to find out who has BILLIONS of spike proteins already disrupting their blood, organs and brain, but also who does NOT have this genetically modified humanoid quality (cell mutations that produce cancerous “spikes” throughout the vascular system).
In New York, the current system requires healthcare providers to get your verbal consent, if you’re over 18 years old, in order to hand over your vaccination information to the Vaccine Industrial Complex (nanny state). See, the original law was an “opt-in” law, where consent had to be in writing. This is different. The new law in New York was tricky and would have replaced “opt-in” with “opt-out” so nobody would have to get the patient’s written or verbal permission, it would be up to the patient to ask about it and activate “opt-out.” Talk about flipping the script.
Fortunately, although the New York State Assembly passed bill A7154 back in June, the Senate version, S1531, never got voted on. Now the bill is dead until 2025, to see what the election brings us. Then the vaccine cult of New York will have to start from scratch again, trying to invade people’s medical privacy in order to later force-vaccinate the masses. This follows suit with Bill Gate’s TED-announced plan to “reduce the world’s population by a few billion people” by doing a “really good job with vaccines.” Got spike protein syndrome? Got your vaccine passport? Got “gain of function Bird Flu”? New York legislators want to know.
Imagine: you get pulled over on the New York streets or highway, and the “officer” says, “Please hand me your license and updated vaccine passport” (then you go to jail if you don’t have the latest mRNA jab). ]]>State officials finally closed the Indian Point nuclear facility in 2021, a development that climate activist groups commended because of purported safety and environmental risks posed by the facility. However, about three years after the plant shuttered, the state has seen a sharp increase in the greenhouse gas emissions attributable to power generation due in large part to increased reliance on natural gas to make up for the closed plant’s output, according to a March 2024 analysis conducted by JP Morgan.
“In 2020 and 2021, New York State shut down Indian Point’s nuclear plants with the intention of replacing its generation with renewable energy,” JP Morgan wrote in its analysis. “That’s not what has happened so far: three new natural gas plants (Bayonne Energy Center, CPV Valley Energy Center and Cricket Valley Energy Center) have filled the gap along with mostly gas-fired electricity imports from states like Pennsylvania.”
Dems Who Shrieked About Climate Apocalypse Voted Against Bill Promoting Emissions-Free Nuclear Powerhttps://t.co/KWk0oN08HW
— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) February 29, 2024
New York state has established goals of producing 70% of its electricity with green generation by 2030 and having its grid reach zero-emissions by 2040, according to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Proponents of the Indian Point closure frequently asserted that the retirement of zero-emissions nuclear generation presented a prime opportunity for green energy to step up in the void, but JP Morgan’s analysis demonstrates that natural gas and imports have plugged the gap much more than wind or solar, for example.
This outcome is not the one that environmental activists cheering the plant’s closure expected.
“Once Indian Point is closed, we won’t need to rely on fossil fuels to make up for its energy. Peak demand in the region will have declined by more than the 2,000 megawatts the plant generates, and the replacement power will be carbon neutral as the State further increases its clean energy investments,” Paul Gallay, the president of Riverkeeper — an organization that was involved in the 2017 agreement to eventually shutter Indian Point — said in a statement after the agreement was finalized. “There will be little impact on electricity bills — between $1 and $2 dollars a month — which is a small price to pay for minimizing the risk that this plant poses. Going forward, new efficiency and renewable energy projects will drive still greater savings for consumers, thanks to aggressive energy investments by the state. It’s a new day for New York and the Metro region.”
Natural gas has largely filled in the supply gap opened by Indian Point’s retirement rather than the wind, solar and hydro power projects that officials planned to pick up the slack, the JP Morgan analysis demonstrates.
The change in New York’s energy profile has also altered the emissions intensity of its energy, especially the energy fueling New York City and Long Island, according to JP Morgan.
In 2019, before the plant was shut down, the power fueling New York City and Long Island emitted less than 600 pounds of carbon dioxide for every megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated, a figure well below the U.S. average and the average carbon intensity of electricity powering Texas, according to JP Morgan. At the end of 2022, the electricity flowing to New York City and Long Island emitted nearly 900 pounds of carbon dioxide per every MWh generated, significantly more than the averages of the U.S. writ large and of Texas.
“While Texas is more ‘red’ than New York City, it’s now more ‘green’ as well,” the JP Morgan report states.
The carbon intensity of the electricity keeping the lights on in New York state’s most densely-populated area is not the only metric to have increased since Indian Point shut down.
In March 2021, the month before officials shuttered Indian Point for good, electricity in New York City costed consumers about 15 cents per kilowatt hour (KWh) on average; as of December 2023, the average cost per KWh of electricity in New York City had increased to nearly 18 cents, according to data aggregated by Y Charts. That jump represents an increase of approximately 20%.

]]>According to a recent AFP News report, large white tents full of Central and South Americans, Africans, Chinese, and Russians are packed like cattle on one of the runways at Floyd Bennett Field. It’s hard to say how many migrants are in the tent city, but some figures put it at nearly 2,000.
Corporate media has largely ignored this sprawling tent city of illegals. Only a handful of articles have been published about it over the last three months.
Forget legacy media outlets whose journalists are bought and sold by mega-corporations and heavily influenced by Washisngton’s censorship-industrial complex because citizen journalists have revealed new footage of the migrant tent city.
X user Henry Facey’s drone video of the tent city has been reposted by many on the free speech platform and has since gone viral.

It delivered…
Oh, so now we’re going to talk about the “market of sweethearts” in a certain New York neighborhood, huh? Well, let’s dive right into this dumpster fire of a situation.
In a neighborhood that’s supposedly a “melting pot” of cultures, you’ve got a bunch of illegal street vendors selling stolen goods, and a thriving prostitution scene that’s so obvious, even a blind person could see it. And guess what? The local politicians, including the lovely Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are just turning a blind eye to the whole thing. How progressive!
But don’t worry, folks! The neighborhood is represented by a bunch of progressive politicians who are totally on top of things. They’re so busy fighting for social justice and equality that they’ve completely forgotten about the rampant crime and illegal activities happening right under their noses.
But hey, at least they’re trying to issue more vendor permits, right? Because that’s exactly what this neighborhood needs – more people selling stolen goods and blocking the sidewalks with their makeshift flea markets. And let’s not forget about the lovely Assembly member Catalina Cruz, who’s all for decriminalizing prostitution. What could possibly go wrong?
And just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, we have a Republican candidate, Ramses Frías, who’s running for the Assembly District 39 seat to “reclaim the streets.” Good luck with that, buddy. You’re going to need it.
So, there you have it, folks. A neighborhood in New York that’s basically turned into a Third World country, complete with illegal vendors, rampant prostitution, and progressive politicians who couldn’t care less. But hey, at least they’re all about social justice, right?
]]>That fire happened in the first neighborhood targeted by Inside Safe, an initiative created by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to move homeless people off sidewalks and into housing. Yet after each of those encampment operations, streets first targeted by Inside Safe in 2022 – parts of Cahuenga Boulevard, Wilcox Avenue and Franklin – have repopulated.
The Annual Homelessness Assessment Report shows major cities are home to large shares of people experiencing homelessness, with nearly 25 percent of the country’s total homeless population found in either New York City or Los Angeles, based on the 2023 count.
Homelessness shot up by more than 12 percent this year, reaching 653,104 people. The numbers represent the sharpest increase and largest unhoused population since the federal government began tallying totals in 2007, the U.S. Department of Urban Planning and Development said.
Unhoused residents have set up tents, tarps and other structures next to apartment buildings, along median strips and on the sidewalks of Cahuenga where it passes under the 101 Freeway. (Related: NBC News: Inflation and illegals to blame for HOMELESSNESS among LA students.)
In that area, at least four fires have broken out at homeless encampments over the last three months. Although no injuries have been reported, some people in the area have been on edge. Residents say that, over the past few years, they also have had to contend with screaming in the middle of the night, human waste on sidewalks and doorsteps, open-air drug use and threats of violence.
The Cahuenga area targeted by Inside Safe had 15 tents or tent-like structures. Bass acknowledged that the neighborhood has been more challenging than many of the other locations visited by Inside Safe.
“When we find that there is a criminal element, or people being harmed, then we have to address that accordingly,” Bass said. “We’ve not involved LAPD yet in this one, but we are looking into it, and we’ve heard of sex trafficking as well as drug trafficking.”
Bass sent outreach workers and other specialists to homeless encampments to make offers of motel rooms, hotel rooms and other types of temporary housing — all voluntarily — with the goal of moving those unhoused residents into permanent homes.
But the new encampment has only grown, even though Inside Safe promised that all 33 encampments would be cleared and would not return.
Nearly 2,000 people were moved off the streets into interim housing through Inside Safe in Bass’ first year in office. But only a few hundred housed under the program have moved into permanent housing.
The population of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness as well as the number of people living in shelters have both increased. This coincides with the record number of illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. borders.
Recently, the Department of Homeland Security released statistics showing that December 2023 set a new record for illegal entries, capping off the most disastrous year of illegal immigration to the United States.
In just the first three months of the fiscal year 2024, nearly one million illegal aliens were encountered at U.S. borders, and these figures do not include thousands of “gotaways” who are known to have entered but evaded law enforcement.
People who’d been living in a hotel in Aurora for months say they were pushed to the street after the city of Denver bought out all the rooms for illegals, reported 9news.com.
“Our family, we’ve been sleeping in the car for a couple of days,” said Joe Sauceda, who used to live at the Quality Inn in Aurora.
When Denver leased the hotel for the migrants, the hotel kicked out people like Sauceda. Now, he sleeps in his ’97 Lincoln with his partner and dog. “I don’t think it’s fair at all. Because where do I go?” Sauceda said. “Why are they taking precedence over hardworking people that have been living here and are citizens of Aurora? Why are they pushing us out to bring other people in here?”

]]>A recent Siena College poll shows President Joe Biden leading former President Donald Trump 48 percent to 36 percent in a head-to-head matchup. But the lead narrows when independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West are added, with Biden leading Trump 42 percent to 32 percent. That’s underwhelming given the 27-point enrollment advantage of the Democrats in the state.
The survey, conducted from Feb. 12 to 14 among 806 registered voters, shows Biden is in trouble despite his party’s strong foundation in New York. No Republican presidential candidate has won the Empire State in 40 years since Ronald Reagan in 1984. But Trump’s prospect of ending that drought looks brighter by the day.
“It’s worth remembering just how ‘blue’ New York is. Democrats have a 27-point enrollment advantage over Republicans, Biden beat Trump by 23 points in 2020, and no Republican presidential candidate has carried the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984, 40 years ago,” said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg.
But that may change this year.
The poll also reveals that only 46 percent of Democrats in New York want Biden to serve another term, while 38 percent want another choice. On the other hand, 61 percent of New York Republicans want Trump to be their president.
Biden’s turning a deaf ear to the complaints of NYC Mayor Eric Adams regarding the migrant crisis contributes to the consistent decline of the president in state polls.
In 2023, Adams started calling on the president to “control the border” because “there is no more room” in the Big Apple for illegal immigrants. Adams dubbed the wave of illegal immigration under Biden a national crisis that needs to be addressed by a state of emergency declaration.
“We need to control the border. We need to call a state of emergency, and we need to properly fund this national crisis,” Adams said. “We need help, and it’s not going to get any better. From this moment on, it’s downhill. There is no more room.”
During a press conference with Spectrum News NY1 in September, Adams urged Biden to visit the Roosevelt Hotel, which has been transformed into a migrant center to accommodate the influx of illegal aliens. (Related: NYC Mayor Adams blasts Biden admin for burdening Big Apple with ILLEGALS.)
The Roosevelt Hotel, which closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reopened three years later as an intake center for undocumented immigrants, serving as a “welcome center” for thousands arriving weekly in the self-proclaimed sanctuary city.
Adams said at the time that Biden needs to understand how illegal immigration is affecting the economy of the Big Apple.
“I am hoping that he understands this beautiful city that’s the economic engine of this entire country is being saddled with $2 billion that we spent already, $5 billion we’re going to spend in this fiscal crisis [and] $12 billion in the next two budgetary cycles. [NYC] doesn’t deserve this,” Adams said.
The mayor eventually directed every city agency to reduce their budgets by five percent to cover the amount needed to tackle the issue. “Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City,” warned Adams.

City officials in New York have erected massive tent-based camps to house migrants, though these are unlikely to protect them against cold weather in months such as January, when the mean temperature is 33.7°F, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“I think for us it really is everything coming to bear at a time when the weather is really cold,” said Murad Awawdeh, the executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition, to Politico.
New York officials have taken to offering migrants incentives to leave the city, such as one-way plane tickets to foreign countries with warmer climates, though migrants have reportedly rejected these offers because they desire to remain in the United States.
In Chicago, where Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration has been criticized by residents for the influx of migrants, racial animus between black citizens and migrants from other countries is complicating efforts to help the latter prepare for the city’s winter, where the mean temperature is 25.6°F, according to the NOAA.
“Residents are seeing that after all this time of promising something for us, nothing has come of it. Now you have folks who have just come to this country, and they’re being serviced,” said Alderperson Ronnie Mosley, who represents the heavily black South Side of Chicago, to Politico.
Senior Democratic officials have vowed to support migrants, however, regardless of local opposition. “The state that took my ancestors in fleeing from pogroms in Ukraine will not allow asylum seekers to freeze to death on our doorsteps,” said Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Politico reported.
In Massachusetts, many homeless persons may access state-funded housing under a right-to-shelter law. However, after facilities were filled to capacity on Nov. 9, new applicants have been placed on waitlists, prompting concern among activists about the winter.
”I think that we’re going to see some very desperate situations,” said Andrea Park of the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, to Politico.
Adams, Johnson and Democratic Gov. Maura Healey of Massachusetts did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
