Patrick McHenry – American Conservative Movement https://americanconservativemovement.com American exceptionalism isn't dead. It just needs to be embraced. They may make a ton of money from their perch in Congress, but that’s nothing compared to what many of them can make after leaving.

RINO Congressman Patrick McHenry is about to cash in. As chair of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, he has the connections necessary to land an 8-figure job after he leaves office. He’s making it official soon, according to Axios.

Any chance that he might stay in Congress melted away when his buddy, Kevin McCarthy, was ousted from his position as Speaker of the House. With no more leverage over the Chair, McHenry’s future was sealed.

Here’s the writeup from Discern Reporter generated by corporate media reports:

House Financial Services Chairman Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) is expected to announce that he will not seek re-election, according to three GOP lawmakers who confirmed the news to Axios.

McHenry, a North Carolina Republican first elected to his seat in 2004, has played a significant role in policy decisions and conference leadership. He notably served three weeks as interim Speaker during the search for a replacement for former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) in October.

As a key negotiator, McHenry has been involved in shaping important pieces of legislation, including the debt ceiling deal earlier this year. He also served as the chief deputy whip for House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, overseeing many whip duties while the Louisiana Republican recovered from injuries sustained in the 2017 congressional baseball shooting.

It’s worth noting that McHenry was set to term out of his chairmanship at the end of the current term. Several lawmakers speculated that his departure was likely, anticipating that he would receive multiple lucrative job offers due to his position on the committee.

The announcement of McHenry’s exit is expected to trigger a race for the coveted chairmanship and is a source of concern for some within the Republican party, as retirements could impact their ability to retain the majority.

After McHenry Boots Pelosi From Hideaway Office, We Have to Wonder What Leverage She Has on McCarthy https://americanconservativemovement.com/after-mchenry-boots-pelosi-from-hideaway-office-we-have-to-wonder-what-leverage-she-has-on-mccarthy/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/after-mchenry-boots-pelosi-from-hideaway-office-we-have-to-wonder-what-leverage-she-has-on-mccarthy/#comments Wed, 04 Oct 2023 11:37:30 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=197457 Conspiracy theory time. Interim Speaker of the House Patrick McHenry wasted no time before booting Nancy Pelosi from the “hideaway” office. He ordered her to vacate the office almost immediately, which is a privilege afforded to a very select few in the House.

According to Harold Hutchison at Daily Caller:

McHenry ordered Pelosi to move out in an email sent hours after eight Republicans voted to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy along with 208 Democrats in a 216-210 vote Tuesday, according to Politico. Pelosi served as Speaker from 2019 to 2023 before Democrats lost the House of Representatives, despite Republicans underperforming expectations of a “red wave” nationally.

“Please vacate the space tomorrow, the room will be re-keyed,” an email from the House Administration Committee to Pelosi’s staff said, Politico reported.

McHenry, who serves as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was McCarthy’s first choice to serve as Speaker pro tempore in the event that he was forced out, according to Politico.

“Sadly, because I am in California to mourn the loss of and pay tribute to my dear friend Dianne Feinstein, I am unable to retrieve my belongings at this time,” Pelosi told Politico.

There’s a decent conspiracy theory floating around, but let’s start with the most obvious possible reason why Kevin McCarthy refused to boot her before McHenry rushed to do so. Privileges granted by the Speaker of the House are often considered courtesies, especially for adversaries. Pelosi, for example, allowed her predecessor to retain privileged office space for a time.

“This eviction is a sharp departure from tradition,” Pelosi said. “As Speaker, I gave former Speaker [Dennis] Hastert a significantly larger suite of offices for as long as he wished.”

As for why McHenry would boot her so quickly, it seems reasonable that he was simply lashing out after all Democrats joined eight Republicans in removing McCarthy from the Speaker position. Perhaps McCarthy and McHenry, who are close friends, appealed to Pelosi to intervene with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. When the vote came down, it was clear that McHenry was livid.

Now, let’s turn to Rogan O’Handley for the other prominent theory…

I think the only reason McCarthy allowed Pelosi to keep the Speaker’s hideaway office is b/c she had leverage on him. She either knew of potential affair(s) or his dirty deals with Sequoia Capital and said “you work for me now.”

Think about that. We took the House but Pelosi still kept the Speaker’s office. McCarthy was working for Pelosi the entire time. That’s why nothing got done except performative theater.

Washington DC in general and Capitol Hill in particular have at their foundations the battle over leverage. Who has what on whom? The tangled web is immense. It seems very possible that Pelosi knows something about McCarthy and used her leverage to keep her privileged office. If that’s the case, then O’Handley may be correct in assuming she and possibly other Democrats used leverage over McCarthy to keep their agenda on track even with a Republican majority in the House.

Who knows? Someone does. What’s clear is that none of us are likely to ever know the truth.

Interim Speaker Patrick McHenry’s Angry Outburst Over McCarthy Ousting Shows the Problem With the Feckless GOP https://americanconservativemovement.com/interim-speaker-patrick-mchenrys-angry-outburst-over-mccarthy-ousting-shows-the-problem-with-the-feckless-gop/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/interim-speaker-patrick-mchenrys-angry-outburst-over-mccarthy-ousting-shows-the-problem-with-the-feckless-gop/#comments Wed, 04 Oct 2023 08:20:44 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=197440 Congressman Patrick McHenry, the man who is reluctantly interim Speaker of the House, slammed down the gavel with unnecessary force when he declared the chamber in recess. He’s angry because his friend, Kevin McCarthy, was ousted by a small group of conservative Representatives and the entire Democrat caucus.

As Collin Rugg from Trending Politics noted, this is an unusual outburst from McHenry:

Interim Speaker Patrick McHenry aggressively slams the gavel as he and 200+ other Republicans fume over Kevin McCarthy’s ousting.

Where was this anger as millions of migrants poured over the southern border?

Where was this anger as US debt rises over $33T?

Where was this anger when the FBI rounded up Trump supporters and threw them in prison?

Where is this anger as the “justice” system tries to take out Biden’s top opponent in 2024?

They sit back and do nothing as our country burns but fume when their buddy loses his Speaker role.

Patrick McHenry and the rest of the UniParty Swamp majority within the Republican caucus are angrier about Kevin McCarthy getting ousted than tens of millions of Americans being crushed by manufactured inflation.

They’re angrier about their buddy being demoted than the ongoing lies surrounding Covid-19, lockdowns, or the vaccines.

They’re angrier about McCarthy getting called out for breaking his promises than for Joe Biden not getting called out for selling influence to foreign nations.

They’re angrier with Matt Gaetz than with Alejandro Mayorkas, Christopher Wray, Antony Blinken, or Pete Buttigieg.

They’re angrier about the caucus being divided than they are about the people of East Palestine suffering because they have failed to act on their behalf.

They’re angrier that Gaetz used Democrats to remove a RINO than they were about that RINO using Democrats to pass his continuing resolution.

Most of all, they’re angrier about McCarthy being held accountable than they are about the entirety of the Biden-Harris regime NOT being held accountable.

Imagine if Patrick McHenry’s passion for serving the people he represents came close to matching his passion for protecting the Swamp’s status quo. We might actually see some good coming out of DC in that unlikely scenario.
