Jonathon Von Maren put forward this argument in an Aug. 14 piece on LifeSiteNews, which featured his interview with pro-life statistician and political scientist Dr. Michael New. He cited numbers released by the U.S. Society of Family Planning (SFP) as part of its #WeCount projects to back up his case. According to the group’s estimates, abortion numbers continue to rise.

The SFP found that in the first three months of 2024, the number of abortions increased by 13.8 percent. It also found that during the same period, 20 percent of all abortions were done via telehealth – something Von Maren described as “alarming.”

“When a woman obtains a telehealth abortion, she is mailed chemical abortion pills without an in-person medical exam. Telehealth abortions are self-reported by companies that send abortion pills through the mail. This raises questions about the accuracy of these abortion estimates,” he wrote.

“These companies may have incentives to inflate their numbers. Furthermore, the fact that abortion pills were ordered does not necessarily mean that an abortion was obtained. Von Maren continued that the increased availability of chemical drugs is causing the rise in abortions. He also noted the Biden administration’s role in making these abortifacient drugs more accessible.

In 2016, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded the gestational age limit for chemical abortions from seven weeks to 10 weeks. It also allowed nurse practitioners and other medical professionals that same year to prescribe mifepristone, one of the two drugs used in chemical abortions alongside misoprostol.

Also in 2016, the FDA approved a dosing regimen – requiring women obtaining chemical abortions to make only one visit to a health care professional instead of three. The regulator later announced in 2021 that the one-visit requirement would no longer be enforced.

Shield laws contributed to rise in chemical abortions

Citing data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Von Maren said the percentage of chemically induced infanticide out of all abortions increased from 30.3 percent to 56 percent between 2016 and 2021. He continued: “It should not come as a surprise that after a fairly consistent 36 year decline, the U.S. abortion rate increased in 2017 and has increased since that time.”

In the first quarter of this year, more than 27,000 telehealth abortions took place under shield laws – more than nine percent of the total. Shield laws, which are in effect in six blue states, provide legal protection to medical professionals who send chemical abortion pills into states with legal protections for pre-born children.

“The abortion pill presents a new era in the abortion wars,” New told Von Maren. “Pro-lifers need to prioritize preventing chemical abortions.”

To achieve this goal, he suggested three strategies pro-lifers can take – first of which is using litigation against the FDA. According to New, it can be strongly argued that the FDA did not follow its own rules regarding testing and safety when they eased access to chemical abortion drugs in 2016 and 2021.

A second strategy is using litigation to invalidate shield laws. The pro-life political scientist noted that attorneys general in several red states are reportedly mulling various litigation strategies against the six blue states with shield laws in place.

Lastly, New suggested electing a pro-life president as a third strategy. He expressed hope that the pro-life president would simply appoint FDA personnel who would limits on the shipment and use of chemical abortion drugs if elected.

“Donald Trump has certainly not made any promises to place limits on chemical abortions. However, his FDA appointees would certainly be more sympathetic to the concerns of pro-lifers than an appointees made by Kamala Harris,” New remarked.

From the start, it was understood by the Founders that the greatest potential for such a threat to manifest itself on the new Republic was posed by the judiciary. And almost immediately, their fears began being validated. Examples of such go all the way back to the early 1800s, with efforts by the Nation’s high courts to “reinterpret” (reinvent) the “Commerce Clause” as a means of totally negating the Tenth Amendment of the Bill of Rights. That amendment flatly stipulates that powers not specifically granted to the Federal Government by the Constitution are strictly prohibited to it, thus limiting its ability to wantonly seize total control over “We the People.” Of course this had to change.

Simply stated, the Commerce Clause gives Congress the power “to regulate commerce with foreign nations, among states, and with the Indian tribes.” Rather quickly, courts began claiming the Commerce Clause as a “carte blanche” to totally dominate and control any legislation and/or individual who might be involved in any commercial activity that ever crossed state lines. Eventually, during the Supreme Court activism of the Roosevelt years, that was expanded to give the Government control of any action that even had a mere “potential” to cross state lines.

Other similar over-reaches by the Court have occurred, each with its own track record of devastation to America’s foundations and traditions, including the excruciating twisting and contorting of the First Amendment to ostensibly establish a “wall of separation between Church and State.” That has been invoked as the pretext for the prohibition of even so innocuous a rejoinder as “Merry Christmas!” in public schools, though kids are now pummeled with the Koran along with every perverse precept of the religion of the counterculture.

However, the evil “crown jewel” of judicial activism was inarguably the Supreme Court’s infamous and Constitutionally indefensible “Roe v. Wade” decision of 1973. With it, a handful of “justices” legalized the wanton slaughter of tens of millions of unborn human babies, claiming as their “Constitutional” pretext the “emanations of the umbra” of the Fourteenth Amendment. In simple terms, that translates to the “mists from the shadow.” And with that flimsy excuse, the Supreme Court sanctioned full scale genocide of the unborn!

Thankfully, Roe has since been overturned, allowing States to enact laws protecting the most defenseless and innocent among them. Yet the Pandora’s Box of Roe v. Wade remains wide open, and on too regular of a basis, the demons of judicial over-reach and abuse of official power escape from it. If not forcefully confronted and corrected, the threats we currently see being levied against President Trump will be only the beginning. Ultimately, they pose an existential threat to the freedom and liberty of every decent American who seeks to speak the truth and uphold the law.

The recent avalanche of court cases and contrived accusations against the President represent an ugly and dangerous case in point. None of them involve any interest by those attacking the President to uphold the law or make the streets of America safer for law-abiding citizens. Rather, they are a flagrant effort to prevent a very popular and (if elections were conducted with integrity) unbeatable presidential candidate from running for public office. As such the goal of this offensive is not so much to personally harm President Trump as it is to restrict and trample the ability of all Americans to seek and achieve proper representation of their choosing.

Make no mistake about the dire circumstance in which our Nation now finds itself. Every statute and precept of proper jurisprudence and equality under the law has been flagrantly repudiated. From the list of “judges and prosecutors” who clearly exhibit bias worthy of recusal (though none have), to the phony and manufactured nature of the charges being invented, real law and justice have been totally abandoned. Currently, no wiggle room remains whereby the agenda-driven leftists of the various “courts” can offer the slightest validation of their attempts to destroy President Trump.

Ultimately, it is they who are the real criminals posing a grave danger not only to the President, but to every one of us. Just as a cop who is issued a lethal firearm and authorized to use it for self-defense and to protect others, can in no way excuse wielding that weapon and inflicting harm out of personal animosity, the “legal” system cannot be allowed to deprive innocent citizens of life, liberty, and property without due process of law. Sadly, that milestone was passed a long time ago.

In a free society, the law provides a framework within which all honest and upstanding citizens are able to live, work, and pursue their dreams. Under despotism, the law rapidly degenerates into a weapon, wielded by the powerful to oppress and control the weak. Presently, America teeters dangerously close to that awful precipice.

“Our primary analysis indicates that in the first six months of 2023, births rose by an average of 2.3 percent in states enforcing total abortion bans compared to a control group of states where abortion rights remained protected, amounting to approximately 32,000 additional annual births resulting from abortion bans,” three researchers from the Georgia Insitute of Technology and Middlebury College wrote in a report published by the Institute of Labor Economics in Germany on Friday.

The researchers came to their conclusions based on monthly birth data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) starting from January 2005 to June.

The report noted significant changes in abortion access following the Supreme Court ruling.

“As of November 1, 2023, 14 states are enforcing bans on abortion in nearly all circumstances, and 23 percent of U.S. women of reproductive age have experienced an increase in driving distance to the nearest abortion facility, from an average of 43 miles one-way before Dobbs to 330 miles at present,” the researchers wrote.

“This represents the most profound transformation of the landscape of U.S. abortion access in 50 years,” they added.

The longer the driving distances to abortion clinics, the greater the increase in birth rates, according to the report.

For instance, Texas, one of the 14 states to enforce near-total bans on the procedure, saw its fertility rates increase by 5.1 percent as its driving distance to the nearest abortion clinic increased by an average of 453 miles.

Mississippi saw a 4.4 percent spike in birth rates, as the average increase in driving distance there was 240 miles after the state imposed its ban.

Meanwhile, researchers noted the availability of online abortion pills was a factor in some states with bans. Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana had increases in births that were “less than forecasted” based on driving distances, as they were also the states with the “greatest reported increase to Aid Access for medications to self-manage abortion following Dobbs.”

In the 14 states, the report estimated that about one-fifth to one-fourth of people seeking abortions did not receive one due to abortion bans.

The report also showed a sizable increase in birth rates for Hispanic women (4.7 percent) and women in their early 20s (3.3 percent).

On Nov. 22, separate data released by the CDC showed that the number of abortions reported to the agency increased 5 percent from 2020 to 2021. The CDC data do not include numbers from California, Maryland, New Hampshire, and New Jersey.

In response to the CDC numbers, the Washington-based conservative advocacy group Family Research Council (FRC) issued a statement saying unborn children need urgent protection.

“From 2020–2021, the number of abortions increased by five percent. This means that the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision giving elected officials the power to protect unborn children from abortion came at the time when unborn children’s lives were most at risk. The time to protect the unborn is now!” FRC’s Director of the Center for Human Dignity, Mary Szoch, said in a statement.

“Additionally, this data shows that 56 percent of abortions occurred using the dangerous chemical abortion drug, mifepristone. While every abortion is tragic because it ends the life of an unborn child, abortions using the abortion drug, mifepristone, are especially horrific because of the great risk they pose to the mother’s health, and sometimes her life, as well,” Ms. Szoch added.

She continued, “The CDC data shows that six women and 625,978 unborn babies lost their lives from legal and induced abortion. This number is undoubtedly an underreporting. It is devastating, as each of these women and each of these babies have incalculable dignity and worth.”

The reason is absurd. There were complaints that the sponsors included two pro-life organizations. According to Fox News:

The Rocky Mountain Vibes were slated to host Family Night during their game on Friday, but due to objections to two organizations partnering on the event, the team canceled. Save the Storks, one of the sponsors, said in a Facebook post that UCHealth, the health system company behind the Vibes’ stadium’s name, “was behind this shut down.”

However, the Vibes themselves said in a statement to Fox News that it was solely their decision to cancel.

“While we value all our sponsors and ticket holders, they do not make decisions regarding the nature of our post-game entertainment, or groups that come out to our stadium to raise awareness for their causes. The Vibes made this decision after seeing the proposed assets from the partner in question because they felt that the partner would hinder the team’s mission in providing fun and affordable family entertainment. Any statement placing blame on any outside party for cancelation of tonight’s events is inaccurate. The Vibes made this decision internally and stand by their choice.”

According to Outkick, Save the Storks is calling on people to demand refunds:

“We were delighted when the Rocky Mountain Vibes team came to us and asked if we could partner for Family Night. Now we are extremely disappointed and confused by this decision of the owners of the franchise and corporate owner of the UCHealth Park,” Save the Storks president Diane Ferraro said in a statement. “UCHealth is a company that says they offer care for women and families but is shutting down a night specifically intended for them.”

Ferraro also announced that their promotion of the family night event had driven over 3,000 ticket sales. After the team cancelled, she recommended that anyone who bought in support of her organization ask for refunds and not attend the game:

“We are encouraging our supporters to request refunds for their tickets and not attend an event that no longer welcomes families.”

For the Rocky Mountain Vibe to be so adamantly opposed to families that they are willing to cancel a game over sponsors is indicative of how outrageously the radical left has infected sports and other entertainment industries.

The US Supreme Court has overturned the extremely liberal abortion law, which previously provided for abortions up to the viability of the foetus. The fact that the landmark Roe v. Wade was overturned, has irked Soros. For the US billionaire, this decision means the “end of democracy” in the US. For the mainstream, “democracy” is dying because viable foetuses can no longer be killed in the womb. Yet this reading of the facts is only partially correct, since US states themselves are easily able to create their own legal framework for abortions.

Great Reset – true ‘democracy’ for globalists

The ruling means that “democracy” in the US will be transformed into a repressive regime, grumbled globalist Soros in an opinion peice in Der Standard. For democracy advocates, this is a confusing portrayal of the situation, but globalist connoisseurs know: When Soros and his WEF friends like Klaus Schwab or Bill Gates speak of “democracy”, they really mean a global dictatorship subjugated to them.

Because only when we no longer have anything to say and no longer own anything will they be happy according to Agenda 2030. Cars, flights, eating meat, property and even procreation: all this will be reserved for the global elites in the future, if they have their way.

The Republican Party is also a thorn in his side, because “even greater, however, is the danger to which the US is exposed by enemies of democracy at home. Soros demands total defeat of Republicans, Russia, China

Soros makes it clear: For him, “extremists” run US courts since they all contribute to strengthening Trump and his supporters with their decisions against abortion, against fighting climate change and against LGBTQ rights. Only with a total defeat of the Republicans would it be possible, according to the big financier, to restore “American democracy”.

Soros is unperturbed by his completely upside-down world: “Democracy” can only exist if there is only one party – controlled by himself and his Open Society Institutes.

He also blames China and Russia for the end of US “democracy”. The US billionaire sees the US threatened from abroad by Xi Jinping in China and by Vladimir Putin in Russia, which want to impose a multipolar worldview contrary to his own. He openly criticised the cooperation between Russia and China.

Third World War: Soros wants to eliminate Russia

He already described this in May in a guest commentary for the same paper. Under the title “The Battle of Our Lives”, Soros bluntly declared: “We must defeat Russia to save our civilisation!” because the Third World War could begin and “possibly our civilisation would not survive it”.

Evidently, his plans for world domination are proceeding too slowly and only a victory over Russia “can save civilisation” according to the 91-year-old’s remarks at the WEF meeting in May.

These are not the first and only guest comments by globalists in the mainstream media. More and more often they are putting out warnings in mainstream newspapers. Klaus Schwab’s guest article in the Handelsblatt in January this year openly called for the end of national parliaments and the introduction of a world dictatorship under the glorifying name of “Governance 4.0”.

Soros dogma responsible for turmoil in Sri Lanka

With extreme energy shortages and inflation in Sri Lanka over 50 percent, food prices rising by 80 percent, a half-million people fell into poverty over the last year.

“But the underlying reason for the fall of Sri Lanka is that its leaders fell under the spell of Western green elites peddling organic agriculture and ‘ESG’, which refers to investments made following supposedly higher Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria. Sri Lanka has a near-perfect ESG score (98) which is higher than Sweden (96) or the United States (51),” explained Micheal Shellenberger.

Higher oil prices resulted in transportation prices rising by 128 percent since May as a result of the country insisting on adhering to Soros’ ESG directives.

“The biggest and main problem causing Sri Lanka’s fall was its ban on chemical fertilizers in April 2021. Over 90 percent of Sri Lanka’s farmers had used chemical fertilizers and, after the ban, 85 percent experienced crop losses. After the fertilizer ban, rice production fell 20 percent and prices skyrocketed 50 percent in just six months. Sri Lanka had to import $450 million worth of rice despite having been self-sufficient in the grain just months earlier. The price of carrots and tomatoes rose five-fold. Tea, the nation’s main export, also suffered, thereby undermining the nation’s foreign currency and ability to purchase products from abroad.

Here are some of the responses, and while some rightly pointed out she invoked “life” and “future” while pushing to murder as many preborn babies as possible, the lion’s share of responses focused on the fact that she has been one of the most outspoken vaxx-nannies in Washington. That’s a great feat considering how unhinged Washington Democrat politicians have been during the age of Covid.

The saddest part is that people like Patty Murray will never recognize their own hypocrisy. They think that bodily autonomy only works for murdering babies, but people should have zero rights when it comes to the “vaccines.”

The concerns of the accused teen arsonist and murderer are legitimate. One does not have to be a privacy advocate to see the potential risks of law enforcement using search histories to draw connections to crimes. I’m neutral on the subject for now simply because I haven’t dug into it thoroughly enough to form an opinion, but it’s understandable that many are concerned in an age when the rising Police State is getting more and more sophisticated.

With that said, jumping from a severe crime like murder and turning the story into an issue over abortion “rights” is ludicrous prima facie. Our unhinged corporate media is as predictable as ever, and since they will do anything to keep the focus on Roe v Wade being overturned and away from the multitude of problems plaguing America as a result of the Biden regime’s feckless policies, it’s not surprising they’d try to gaslight us in this way.

And to be clear, it is 100% gaslighting. The second paragraph of the story manufactures a concern out of thin air, a concern that has absolutely no grounds in reality:

The pushback against this surveillance tool, known as a reverse keyword search, is being closely watched by privacy and abortion rights advocates, who are concerned that it could soon be used to investigate women who search for information about obtaining an abortion in states where the procedure is now illegal.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. When all you have to try to protect Democrat majorities in November is Roe v Wade, everything has to somehow connect to abortion “rights.” It’s despicable but, as I noted before, quite predictable.

The group, which has taken responsibility for a number of attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers including two over the weekend in California and Vermont, had vowed “open season” on such entities prior to the high court’s landmark decision.

On June 24, the group had called for a “night of rage” in reaction to the decision, and in a subsequent communique has threatened violence against pregnancy centers and pro-lifers in no uncertain terms, ultimately vowing a commitment to overthrowing “the entire global civilization.”

On June 27, the group posted on an anarchist website, taking responsibility for vandalism at a Glendale, California pregnancy clinic.

“As we predicted almost a month ago, the United States Supreme Court stripped millions of people of bodily autonomy and access to abortion. This is only the beginning of the attacks on autonomy in store from the courts and fascists. Up next on the chopping block is access to contraception, the legality of everyday queer life, and gay marriage. But this is part of a broader pattern of fascism within the United States,” the statement read.

It continued:

To all the conservatives, Fox News anchors, judges, cops, Christian extremists, or federal agents reading this:

This attack is nothing in comparison to what is in store for you. Some spray paint will be the least of your worries. For decades you have bombed abortion clinics and murdered doctors. We fight not just for abortion rights, but for trans liberation, ecological harmony, decolonization, the destruction of white supremacy and capitalism, and the uprooting of the entire global civilization.

We will hunt you down and make your lives a living hell. You started this war but we will win it. So far its just been pregnancy crisis centers, but tomorrow it might be your cars, your homes, or even your lives. We support a diversity of tactics and we will not step down in this fight.

The message is signed, “Expect us, Jane’s Revenge.”

Live Action Network noted that while the group didn’t name the clinic in their communique, the Tree of Life pregnancy center in Paso Robles was targeted between Friday evening and early Saturday morning with spray-paint messages, one of which read, as has been the case in other attacks Jane’s Revenge has taken responsibility for “If abortions aren’t safe, you aren’t either.”

Paso Robles police also say the Tree of Life center received a letter from Jane’s Revenge.

Also on the evening of June 24, a pregnancy center in Lynchburg, Virginia was attacked by vandals which were claimed by Jane’s Revenge.

“On June 24th, the night after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Jane’s Revenge smashed the windows of the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center’s headquarters in so-called Lynchburg Virginia,” another communique bragged.

They ranted further:

Lynchburg is a hotbed of Christian fascism, home to the Neo-Nazi Wolves of Vinland group and Jerry Falwell’s ‘Liberty’ university. We smashed out their windows, and vandalized their building with slogans and imagery ranging from coat hangers to ‘vote blue lol.’

The ground in front of their now smashed front door reads ‘if abortion ain’t safe you ain’t safe.’ We encourage anyone to gather their friends, pick up a crowbar or a bottle of spray paint, find your nearest misogyny shop, courthouse, or pig pen and go f*cking ape sh*t. We have learned that this is really quite simple, all you need is a few trusted friends and a little bit of passion!

Fascism is on the rise but so are we! May the sound of shattering glass (seriously it is so satisfying :)) dry your tears.

In yet another communique, the group took responsibility for an attack in Burlington, Vermont as they “decided it was a good time to remind the tyrants that we are everywhere and that we will not be f*cked with.”

Explaining their decision to target pro-life pregnancy centers, the message explained that “Their tactic is to lure in vulnerable people with emotionally manipulative messaging about ‘non-judgmental support’ before pulling the ol’ bait and switch and doing everything they can to guilt people into carrying their unplanned pregnancies to term.”

Jane’s Revenge concluded this communique by claiming they would bring it “Wisconsin-style” the next time — a reference to the first attack for which the group has taken credit in Madison, Wisconsin when a pro-life activist group was firebombed in the wake of the leaked draft opinion indicating the court would overturn Roe.

Wade was decided in 1973, and millions more will be killed in the years ahead.  And even though the abortion industry will be able to continue to conduct business as usual in most of the country, liberals are throwing a monstrous temper tantrum now that Roe has been overturned.

In this article, I am going to try to show you what is really going on out there.  I am going to show you the good, the bad and the ugly and it will not be filtered.  The following are 11 of the most notable reactions to the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe…

#4 Many on social media have been suggesting that a national sex strike is the best way for women to use their leverage.  Here is one example…

So to protest this Supreme Court decision, this individual is suggesting that promiscuous young liberal women should say no to sex until they get married?

I think that most conservative Christians would actually be thrilled to see that happen.

#7 As I detailed in a previous article, radical leftists in Arizona actually attempted to engage in a very real act of insurrection in Phoenix.  Kari Lake was absolutely horrified by this…

#8 Following the announcement of the decision to overturn Roe, there were some on Twitter that were openly calling for violence against Supreme Court justices.  In fact, one individual clearly stated that he intended to assassinate Clarence Thomas, and it took quite a long time before that post was finally removed…

While Twitter routinely bans conservatives, those who challenge the government-sanctioned Covid-19 narrative, or the results of the 2020 US election, threatening to assassinate a Supreme Court justice is just fine.

#11 Of all the sick things that I have come across in recent days, what Stacey Abrams told Fox News was one of the sickest.  When asked if she would support any restrictions on abortion, she insisted that abortion should be legal all the way up to the point of birth…

Of course it isn’t just Stacey Abrams that feels this way.

We have countless other politicians that hold the exact same position.

And what is truly sad is that the vast majority of the U.S. population fully embraces abortion.  Just check out these brand new poll numbers…

Americans disapprove of the decision by 59%–41%. Fully two-thirds of women oppose the ruling with only 33% agreeing with it. A majority of Americans — 52% — believe that overturning Roe is “a step backward for America” while 31% think it’s “a step forward.”

How could we have fallen so far?

If we stay on the road that we are currently on, there is no future for our country.

Even though Roe has been overturned, well over 80 percent of the abortions that were performed before will still be able to happen.

For most of the remaining cases, those that want abortions will just have to drive to a neighboring state.

So ultimately not that much has actually changed.

Pro-life justices will ban interracial marriage?

Vice President Kamala Harris implied the Dobbs decision somehow threatens “the right to interracial marriage.” The pro-life, constitutional ruling “calls into question other rights that we thought were settled, such as the right to use birth control, the right to same-sex marriage, the right to interracial marriage,” Harris said during prepared remarks in Illinois on Friday afternoon.

While Harris is not the first Democrat to make this charge — Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) claimed without evidence that “Republicans want to ban interracial marriages” in March — her assertion cannot be substantiated based on any of the opinions associated with the Dobbs ruling. Justice Clarence Thomas, whose forceful concurring opinion eviscerated Roe, is married to a white woman. There is no indication the former Catholic seminarian wishes to dissolve his union with Ginni Thomas.

Abortion is a broad consensus supported by people of all faiths?

On Friday, President Biden called Roe v. Wade “a decision with broad national consensus, that most Americans of faith and backgrounds [sic] found acceptable.”

Biden made the same erroneous assertion just last month. In reality Christianity, and to degrees Orthodox Judaism and Islam, reject abortion-on-demand. Nor did Americans hold a “broad national consensus” in favor of abortion at the time Roe was decided. In 1969, only 40% of Americans believed abortion should be legal during the first trimester. The late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who founded the group now known as NARAL Pro-Choice America but later became pro-life, admitted the abortion lobby “simply fabricated the results of fictional polls” showing “60% of Americans were in favor of permissive abortion.”

Abortion pills “safely end early pregnancies”?

“My administration will also protect a woman’s access to medications that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration — the FDA — like … mifepristone, which the FDA approved 20 years ago to safely end early pregnancies and is commonly used to treat miscarriages,” said Biden on June 24.

Mifepristone, part of a two-drug cocktail used to induce early medical abortions, certainly isn’t safe for the baby. But as abortions have shifted from surgical to medical abortions, mothers have also suffered an increasing number of side effects and injuries. Women who take the “medications” touted by Biden run a 53% greater risk of visiting the emergency room than those who have a surgical abortion. “Women who had a chemical abortion followed by a second abortion of any type within the next 12 months were more than twice as likely to wind up in the emergency room,” the authors of the study, who are associated with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, said in a statement to The Washington Stand. “Consistent with CDC reports, we found the percentage of abortions performed by means of mifepristone and misoprostol increased from 4.4% of total abortions in 2002 to 34.1% in 2015. Similarly, ER visits following mifepristone abortion grew from 3.6% of all postabortion visits in 2002 to 33.9% of all postabortion visits in 2015,” the peer-reviewed study concluded.

“The safety of the abortion pill is greatly exaggerated,” said its lead author, Dr. James Studnicki.

Abortion-on-demand is a constitutional right?

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) claimed, “Six radical Supreme Court Justices have overturned nearly 50 years of precedent, stripping away the constitutional right to an abortion.” Biden likewise said, “I believe Roe v. Wade was the correct decision as a matter of constitutional law.” Numerous Democrats made similar remarks.

First, only five justices voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. Chief Justice John Roberts’s concurring opinion upheld the Mississippi law protecting unborn children from abortion after 15 weeks but would not overturn Roe.

Second, it’s impossible to fact-check an opinion but, if Biden sincerely believes Roe v. Wade is good constitutional law, he is in the smallest of minorities. The late Ruth Bader Ginsburg once described Roe as “heavy-handed judicial intervention.” A former clerk to the justice who wrote the Roe decision, Harry Blackmun, said, “Roe borders on the indefensible,” because “it has little connection to the constitutional right it purportedly interpreted. A constitutional right to privacy broad enough to include abortion has no meaningful foundation in constitutional text, history, or precedent.”

The Roe decision hardly pretended to root the judicial activists’ desired outcome in the language of the Constitution. The justices explained their creative approach to the Constitution in a prior ruling: “The Bill of Rights have penumbras, formed by emanations from those guarantees that help give them life and substance,” they wrote. Roe v. Wade asserted that these emanations created a constitutional “right” to “sexual privacy” which, they discovered, included the right to an abortion. Abortion is “protected by the Bill of Rights or its penumbra,” they said.

“To hell with the Supreme Court. We will defy them.”

Shortly after justices released the Dobbs decision, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) responded by saying, “To hell with the Supreme Court. We will defy them.”

While nothing requires people to endorse any Supreme Court decision, few politicians since President Andrew Jackson or former segregationist Democrat George Corley Wallace have called for actively ignoring its rulings. While dissenting from a decision may be the right choice at times, some believe it straddles the line of undermining the High Court’s legitimacy. “Sounds very insurrectiony for a member of Congress,” retorted the principled conservative group ForAmerica.

Honorable mentions

Other statements worth noting:

• Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said pro-life advocates base their actions on unbridled misogyny. “Republicans seek to punish and control women,” she wrote. “This cruel ruling is outrageous and heart-wrenching [sic]”;
• Pelosi invoked motherhood in her defense of abortion-on-demand. “American women today have less freedom than their mothers,” she said;
• Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told Fox News the judicial majority voted to “endanger the lives of all women and all birthing people in this country.” She tweeted, “People will die because of this decision” before retweeting a link to a pro-abortion rally hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America;
• Failed 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton deemed abortion-on-demand “sacred,” a term usually reserved for human beings created in imago Dei. “Most Americans believe the decision to have a child is one of the most sacred decisions there is,” she said, claiming the Dobbs ruling “will live in infamy as a step backward for women’s rights and human rights.”

As outrageous as these statements may be, none matches the fundamental lie that the most innocent human beings are “clumps of cells” or “parasites” who deserve to lose their God-given right to life based on a 49-year-old piece of judicial fiction.
