Ron DeSantis on Sunday announced the state will launch its own investigation into the apparent assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump earlier in the day.

The FBI has said in a statement it is investigating the matter as an assassination attempt, while law enforcement officials said on Sunday that Secret Service agents opened fire after discovering the barrel of a rifle at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect was later arrested by sheriff’s officials in Marion County, the county’s sheriff’s department said.

“The State of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club,” DeSantis said in a social media statement. “The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee.”

The Republican governor was referring to comments made by Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, who said the suspected gunman got between 400 and 500 yards of Trump and had an AK-47 with a scope pointed through a fence. The suspect was located by the agent around the fourth or fifth hole of the golf course, and Trump was set to approach the area, the sheriff said.

The investigation into the Florida incident at the Trump golf course is now being handled by federal law enforcement officials, the Marion County sheriff told reporters earlier Sunday.

Federal agents with the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were helping investigate.

Trump’s campaign and the former president himself issued statements saying that he was safe and unharmed. No injuries were reported.

In July, Trump was shot in the ear during a Pennsylvania campaign rally that also left one attendee dead and two injured. Questions were raised about the Secret Service agency and possible breakdowns in how the rally was secured, leading to the resignation of the agency’s director.

The suspected shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed nearly immediately after he opened fire at the rally. Few details about Crooks, including a motive, have been released since.

On Sunday, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas condemned violence against candidates and officials. His agency oversees the Secret Service and is currently overseeing an investigation into the Pennsylvania assassination attempt two months ago.

In a post on X, Mayorkas commended the Secret Service for “its quick action to preempt this apparent assassination attempt and protect the former President.”

“DHS and the Secret Service are closely working with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to learn all of the facts surrounding this incident. The safety and security of Presidential candidates and other protectees is the highest priority for the Secret Service, ” Mayorkas said.

Meanwhile, both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, have said they were briefed on the incident.

Biden released a statement on Sunday night saying he was “relieved” that Trump was not harmed in the incident, while also commending the Secret Service.

“I have been briefed by my team regarding what federal law enforcement is investigating as a possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today. A suspect is in custody, and I commend the work of the Secret Service and their law enforcement partners for their vigilance and their efforts to keep the former President and those around him safe,” he said.

The former president updated his fundraising website later Sunday with a message about his campaign efforts.
“FEAR NOT! I am safe and well, and no one was hurt. Thank God! But, there are people in this world who will do whatever it takes to stop us. I will not stop fighting for you. I will Never Surrender,” the website states.

DeSantis challenged Trump in the Republican primaries earlier this year before the Florida governor dropped out.

DEI’s Demise: University of North Florida Closes Divisive Department https://americanconservativemovement.com/deis-demise-university-of-north-florida-closes-divisive-department/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/deis-demise-university-of-north-florida-closes-divisive-department/#respond Sat, 04 May 2024 14:13:53 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=203191 (Daily Signal)—The University of North Florida closed its diversity, equity, and inclusion office on Wednesday, but DEI personnel were given new job titles, rather than being fired.

The former chief diversity officer, Richmond Wynn, was not fired, but given a new title—vice president of community engagement and partnerships.

In the new role, Wynn is responsible for “developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to establish and enhance mutually beneficial relationships between the university and communities, stakeholders, and industry partners,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

He also “works with other UNF departments to facilitate and promote on-campus community engagement activities that embed civility and a culture of care throughout UNF, institutional values that support a safe and welcoming environment for all students, faculty and staff.”

Wynn did not respond to a request for comment.

When asked if the job description means Wynn will continue to promote DEI-related initiatives at UNF, a spokeswoman for the university said the closing of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and its centers is in response to Florida state Senate Bill 266 and regulations approved by the Florida Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida.

Signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis last May, the law bars public colleges and universities from spending taxpayer dollars on DEI programs.

“By this week, all the centers were officially closed,” UNF Media Relations Manager Amanda Ennis told The Daily Signal. “Some staff members have left the University for other job opportunities. All other employees have moved to other open positions in the university that are not related to DEI.”

UNF announced in January that it would begin phasing out the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. University President Moez Limayem said that no staff members would lose their jobs as a result, but would be assigned to work in other departments with the same or higher salary.

The new role of Sheila Spivey, who was previously assistant vice president of diversity and inclusion, could not be found online, and an emailed request to her for comment bounced back with an “out of office” notice. Brandi Winfrey, director of inclusive excellence, has not changed her job title on LinkedIn and did not respond to a request for comment.

The diversity office staff also included two administrators, and two to three employees for each center.

UNF will continue offering a handful of DEI-related courses in the fall 2024 semester, according to the course catalog, including Introduction to Educational Leadership for Social Justice; Race, Gender, and Politics; Sex, Race, and Social Class; and Difference, Discrimination, and Oppression.

The latter course addresses “issues of power, inequality, privilege, discrimination and the resulting oppression,” according to the course description.

“Course material will use a social justice perspective for the study of and practice with oppressed groups at all system levels, including those distinguished by race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, religion and social class,” the description adds.

The webpage that once displayed UNF’s DEI resources now shows “Access Restricted” result, with this message: “You do not have permission to access this resource.”

The page previously included UNF’s “Inclusive Excellence” strategic plan, as well as information on its Intercultural Center, Interfaith Center, LGBTQ Center, and Women’s Center, according to a Wayback Machine internet search.

“Inclusive Excellence employs a broad and inclusive definition of diversity that includes genetic information, race, ethnicity, color, religion, age, sex, ability, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, veteran status and other important social dimensions that are part of the campus community,” the strategic plan said.

The LGBT Center offered resources on “preferred” personal pronouns, transgenderism, and more.

“Pronouns are a reflection of someone’s gender identity, and to ignore that is to say that their identity isn’t valid,” the resource on pronouns said. “Even when the person isn’t around, using the correct pronouns to refer to them says to those around you that you acknowledge the person’s identity, regardless of how you feel about the person, and encourages others to do the same.”

The page includes a list of common pronouns, as well as “neo” pronouns, such as “Xe/Xem/Xyr,” “Ey/Em/Eir,” “Zie/Zim/Zir,” “Ve/Ver/Vis,” and “Ne/Nem/Nir.”

The Women’s Center was “committed to advocating for gender equality and improving the status of women.”

“We recognize that gender inequalities are deeply connected to other areas of disenfranchisement and oppression in our society,” the archived webpage reads. “Therefore, our programs and services strive to value and promote respect for all differences. This means that women and men and people of all races, cultures, and sexual orientations are welcome in the Women’s Center.”

The Diversity Office webpage also included a statement in support of anti-racism.

“Examining biases and exclusionary practices, and promoting integrity, inclusivity, and ultimately excellence, enhances our personal development, relationships with others, well-being, and global citizenship,” part of the statement reads.

Some UNF students voiced their complaints about the office’s closure on Wednesday.

“I think it’s a travesty we’re shutting down such great resources,” student Emily Roles told WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida.

The UNF Diversity Office closure closely follows the shutdown of DEI at the University of Florida. The home of the Gators sports teams closed an office for a chief diversity officer and eliminated other DEI positions in March, and is reviewing whether the remaining Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion violates state law.

While University of Florida fired DEI personnel, Florida State University took an approach similar to UNF’s, changing the titles and classifications of employees who were in related positions.

The Board of Governors is in the process of reviewing programs in Florida universities to ascertain whether they violate state laws prohibiting DEI instruction, Communications Director Cassandra Edwards told The Daily Signal. She said that programs in state schools found to violate the law will be “eliminated.”

“As this is an ongoing, deliberate process, it will not conclude overnight,” she said. “But rest assured, thanks to Gov. DeSantis’ leadership, state or federal funds will not be used for DEI by Florida’s universities.”

Biggest Loser in DeSantis vs Disney: Corporate Media’s Credibility https://americanconservativemovement.com/biggest-loser-in-desantis-vs-disney-corporate-medias-credibility/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/biggest-loser-in-desantis-vs-disney-corporate-medias-credibility/#respond Sun, 31 Mar 2024 23:24:49 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=202331 Corporate media didn’t need any more help debasing itself, but the agreement reached between Disney and a government oversight body in Florida proved once again that modern day media is made up of fools. Their predictions of a swift and definitive victory for Disney continued up until the day that Disney lost.

In a surprising turn of events, the legal battle between the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) and Disney has seemingly come to an end, with a settlement being reached that appears to favor Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. This conclusion is a stark contrast to the predictions made by many mainstream media outlets, which had previously sided with Disney and predicted DeSantis’ downfall.

The dispute began in 2022 after Disney publicly criticized Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, prompting DeSantis to revoke Disney’s special tax district, which had given the entertainment company autonomy over its theme parks in the region. As a result, the media quickly took Disney’s side, with many outlets calling DeSantis’ actions “authoritarian” and mocking his attempt to challenge the billion-dollar corporation.

Throughout 2022 and 2023, numerous media personalities, including those from MSNBC, ABC’s “The View,” and NBC News, expressed their support for Disney and their belief that DeSantis would ultimately lose the battle. Headlines from various publications echoed this sentiment, claiming that Disney had outmaneuvered DeSantis and would eventually emerge victorious.

However, the recent settlement has shown that the media’s predictions were incorrect. The CFTOD board, appointed by DeSantis, voted to approve a settlement deal with Disney, effectively invalidating Disney’s previous attempts to retain governing control over the district and ending all pending litigation in Florida state court.

In response to the settlement, both Disney and the DeSantis team expressed optimism about the future. Disney’s Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle stated that the agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with the new leadership of the district, while DeSantis’ communications director, Bryan Griffin, emphasized that no corporation should be its own government and that they are ready to work with Disney to promote economic growth and accountable government in Central Florida.

Despite this apparent resolution, a federal lawsuit filed by Disney against DeSantis alleging unfair retaliation for political reasons is still ongoing. However, a federal judge dismissed the case in January, and Disney has agreed to hold off on an appeal until after a new development agreement with the district is established.

Florida Bill Banning Lab-Grown Meat Awaits Gov. DeSantis’ Signature https://americanconservativemovement.com/florida-bill-banning-lab-grown-meat-awaits-gov-desantis-signature/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/florida-bill-banning-lab-grown-meat-awaits-gov-desantis-signature/#respond Thu, 14 Mar 2024 03:45:09 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=201877 (Natural News)—The Florida House on Wednesday, March 6, gave final approval to a wide-ranging bill that would ban cultured, or lab-grown, meat and local regulation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The Republican-controlled House voted 86-27 to approve SB 1084, with the bill finally ready to go to Governor Ron DeSantis. SB 1084 would make several modifications related to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).

Democrats fixated on parts of SB 1084 that would ban the sale and manufacture of cultivated meat, which DeSantis has condemned as “fake meat,” and prevent local governments from regulating EV vehicle charging stations.

Rep. Lindsay Cross (D-St. Petersburg) claimed that both bans were meant to “stop innovation, put barriers on the free market and to lock [Florida] into existing frameworks.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Christine Hunschofsky (D-Parkland) insisted that the “food fight” section of SB 1084 “sends a bad message” to researchers and investors about lab-grown meat.

Hunschofsky added that the move could discourage manufacturers from working in Florida because “they don’t know what day of the week that the Legislature will be OK with them being in the state of Florida.”

“Moon meat” is fine if developed for astronauts

House bill sponsor Danny Alvarez (R-Hillsborough County) said that there are still questions about the safety of lab-grown meat. He explained that selling cultivated meat needs to wait, adding that research over time could help confirm that “it is viable for consumption.”

He noted that the bill is being passed because they “know that Florida agriculture can hold us down and provide plenty of safe, quality beef and agricultural products.” Alvarez also said lab-grown meat is being banned in Florida to help protect consumers.

The measure, which passed the Senate early in March, would allow research into cultivated meat. Production involves a process of taking cultured cells from animals and growing them in controlled settings to produce food.

A potential research ban was removed from earlier versions of the bill due to worries that such a ban could affect the space industry, which is also considering the development of lab-grown meats for long-term space journeys.

Rep. Dean Black (R-Jacksonville) clarified that while it’s fine to develop “Moon meat” for astronauts, cattlemen like himself won’t support it. (Related: FDA approves lab-grown meat produced by Chinese firm linked to biowarfare program.)

“They can make it on the Moon and export it to Mars, and it’s fine to have Martian meat as well,” Black said, adding that he supported SB 1084 because you shouldn’t be able to buy lab-grown meat in Florida, or anywhere in the United States.

Under SB 1084, selling or manufacturing lab-grown meat will be considered a second-degree misdemeanor. Additionally, the bill would put oversight of EV charging stations under the FDACS, which regulates pumps at gas stations. Florida has at least 3,230 public charging stations in 44 of the 67 counties.

According to a staff analysis of the bill, electric cars made up at least three percent of cars sold in Florida from July 2020 to July 2021.

A 2021 state law already prohibits local governments from mandating such things as EV charging stations on gas retailers. That law was enforced after a move by Petaluma, California, to ban new gas stations with the intention of fast-tracking the shift to electric cars.

Dr. Joseph Sansone Files Writ of Mandamus in Florida to Force Gov. DeSantis to Ban Covid “Vaccines” https://americanconservativemovement.com/dr-joseph-sansone-files-writ-of-mandamus-in-florida-to-force-gov-desantis-to-ban-covid-vaccines/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/dr-joseph-sansone-files-writ-of-mandamus-in-florida-to-force-gov-desantis-to-ban-covid-vaccines/#respond Mon, 11 Mar 2024 02:07:18 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=201763 (Natural News)—On behalf of the millions of people who are dead or in the process of dying due to having gotten “vaccinated” for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), Dr. Joseph Sansone has filed a Writ of Mandamus in Florida to compel Gov. Ron DeSantis and Attorney General Ashley Moody to prohibit any further distribution of the shots, which he describes as “nanoparticle injections” or “mRNA nanoparticle injections.”

To preserve the human race from further genetic tainting, Dr. Sansone’s petition requires DeSantis and Moody to take immediate action in the Sunshine State with regard to stopping COVID shots from continuing to be distributed and injected into people’s bodies.

“This mandamus also seeks to compel Respondents to seize all vials of COVID 19 injections and all mRNA nanoparticle injections, and conduct a forensic analysis of their contents,” Dr. Sansone says.

(Related: Last year, a number of Florida counties tried to take matters into their own hands by individually passing resolutions to ban COVID injections.)

How will DeSantis respond?

Already, some 10 Florida county Republican parties have declared Chinese Virus jabs to be biological and technological weapons, not medicine. The Florida Department of Health is also on board with halting all further distribution and use of the chemical vials.

In Dr. Sansone’s view, his Writ of Mandamus filing provides the best hope of anything actually being done to stop the chemical genocide. DeSantis now has one of two options at his disposal: He can either sic his attorneys on Dr. Sansone, or he can comply with the petition and ban COVID jabs immediately.

“I sincerely hope he will comply,” Dr. Sansone says. “The more eyes on this the more likely the Governor and Attorney General do the right thing.”

With the help of Karen Kingston, who spent “countless hours” conducting research for Dr. Sansone to create the statement of facts in the legal brief, Dr. Sansone’s efforts will require DeSantis to take some kind of action as the governor will not be legally allowed to just ignore the petition.

“I also want to thank the three anonymous attorneys, and National ARM President David Meiswinkle, that put eyes on this document before I submitted it,” Dr. Sansone wrote on his Substack.

Because nobody else seems to be doing anything about the COVID jab genocide, Dr. Sansone decided that he would have to become the change he wants to see in the world. He is now encouraging all doctors, attorneys and human rights organizations that care about the matter to consider filing an amicus brief, or a motion to intervene with the Florida Supreme Court on the matter as well.

“I am praying that the Supreme Court of Florida stops this horror show,” Dr. Sansone says. “Governor Ron DeSantis is an Accessory After the Fact and is Aiding and Abetting genocide.”

You can read the full document filed by Dr. Sansone at this link.

“Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD, is the State Surgeon General of Florida,” noted one of Dr. Sansone’s followers and supporters. “He should have banned the jab a long time ago, if he has the power.”

“I briefed him on the fact that we warned ahead of any emergency use authorization that these injections would injure and kill,” responded Dr. Mike Yeadon. “I showed him how distressingly consistent with those warnings the outturn was.”

“Briefing a captured individual may not produce the results one would expect,” responded someone else. “Bribery and blackmail motivate things away from common sense.”

Does it even matter anymore now that most of the world has already gotten injected for COVID? Find out more about the long-term health damage the fully vaccinated will face at ChemicalViolence.com.

Ron DeSantis Is Preparing “Off Ramp” — What Does That Means for Donald Trump? https://americanconservativemovement.com/ron-desantis-is-preparing-off-ramp-and-what-that-means-for-donald-trump/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/ron-desantis-is-preparing-off-ramp-and-what-that-means-for-donald-trump/#respond Sun, 21 Jan 2024 11:01:43 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=200543 Nikki Haley said after the Iowa Caucuses that it was a “two-person race” now. She was ridiculed because she finished third, though at the time the speech was written she was still projected to finish second. Nonetheless, she may be right.

Reports and rumors are flying around social media after the campaign site of Ron DeSantis scrubbed all future events. The campaign also canceled scheduled interviews on corporate media for Sunday.

Even staunch supporters like former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis are concerned:

Donald Trump reacted to rumors as one would expect:

As rumors go, this one seems pretty credible. One does not normally cancel campaign appearances two days before a primary unless they’re throwing in the towel.

Reports are coming in from corporate media outlets that insiders believe DeSantis is looking for the “off ramp.” According to Daily Mail:

Ron DeSantis is seeking an ‘off-ramp’ from his 2024 campaign, according to reports, following a disappointing performance in Iowa – buoyed by the promise from Trump supporters to back him in 2028.

The Florida governor spent most of his resources in Iowa, only to finish 30 points behind Trump. He has largely ignored New Hampshire, which votes on Tuesday – and could see Nikki Haley defeat Trump.

Instead, he has been trying to revive his candidacy with an eye toward the February 24 South Carolina GOP primary, which is Haley’s home state.

DeSantis’s efforts were dealt a further blow on Friday night by former presidential contender Tim Scott – a senator for South Carolina – endorsing Trump.

The New York Times suggested that DeSantis is seeking an ‘off ramp’ from his campaign.

Timing is everything. If DeSantis announces his departure from the race before New Hampshire, it will have an impact despite his poor polling in the state. Some polls are showing that it’s somewhat tight between Trump and Haley (though you should never trust polls) while others show Trump leading by as many as 30 points.

It’s hard to tell who would benefit the most from an early DeSantis exit before New Hampshire. In most states his supporters would migrate to Trump but in New Hampshire there is a strict divide between Trump supporters and “NeverTrumpers.” It’s possible that Haley could pick up votes from those who were supporting DeSantis as the best non-Trump.

We’ll watch this closely and will update the story when more is known.

NeoCon Nikki Haley Is Fading But Do NOT Underestimate the UniParty Swamp’s Desperation https://americanconservativemovement.com/neocon-nikki-haley-is-fading-but-do-not-underestimate-the-uniparty-swamps-desperation/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/neocon-nikki-haley-is-fading-but-do-not-underestimate-the-uniparty-swamps-desperation/#respond Sat, 20 Jan 2024 09:00:41 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=200491 (Conservative Playbook)—In the old days, elections were fairly predictable. Well, they seemed predictable. Some would argue they’ve been controlled by the Deep State or the New World Order or the UniParty Swamp or demonic powers or whichever bad guy group you favor for attribution. Compared to today, the powers-that-be at least portrayed a stronger illusion of choice for We the People.

If the current GOP primaries were happening in the old days, we would look at it all and know with a 98% or more certainty that Donald Trump is going to be the nominee. But this is 2024 and nothing can be taken for granted. If you support Trump, now is not the time to get complacent.

Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis are running to be the safety net. They strive to accumulate delegates in hopes that if any of the various manufactured charges against Trump stick, then someone will have to slide into the nomination. Otherwise, the race was over before the Iowa Caucuses. Now we’re faced with a game of chicken as the two remaining challengers vie for crumbs and hope the other drops out first.

As with all elections, this is a money game. We live in a society in which campaign fundraising and spending are signs of viability. The one who spends the most is not necessarily the winner as we’ve learned repeatedly, but the ability for someone to continue running hinges on their ability to raise money and spend it. If they raise it without spending it, they have a harder time raising more. If they spend it and struggle raising more, they’re out.

The DeSantis campaign has been struggling since before the Iowa Caucus after their big-dollar backing started evaporating. Haley’s troubles started at the Iowa Caucus when she could only manage a third place finish, prompting more concerns about her viability. She has been hit hard since then with reports of infidelity, a big endorsement loss, and body blows from Trump that have landed.

Both remaining contenders are banking on the other dropping out first. Both also know that even when the other drops out, their prospects are nearly nil. They need one or more of the lawfare gambits to hit paydirt.

This leads me to the point of today’s column. The powers-that-be seem to consider Haley as their best bad option. A big loss in New Hampshire will decimate her chances of winning her home state. A win or even a close loss in New Hampshire could boost her just enough to take South Carolina as well, especially if DeSantis drops out.

Anyone who thinks it’s impossible for her to beat Trump in New Hampshire hasn’t been paying attention since 2020. The people who stole the last presidential election and the subsequent midterm elections are going to try to do their thing in New Hampshire. If anything, it’ll be easier for them to manufacture votes through Democrats in the open primary. They won’t have to wait until 3am the next day. They can pull off a “fair” win for Haley just by driving enough Democrats to vote for her.

The worst thing Trump supporters in New Hampshire could do is to think Trump is going to win. They need to go into next week thinking his lead is razor thin, that every vote counts, that the UniParty Swamp is going to try to steal the state, and that Nikki Haley is an existential threat to both the MAGA movement and the America itself. They need to rally their friends and family to vote by debunking any notions that Trump has this locked up. It isn’t just about winning the state. HOW he wins is important.

A single-digit win for Trump will be portrayed as a loss as NeverTrump pundits will claim it demonstrates vulnerability. A solid win for Trump will deflate both opponents. More importantly, it will deflate their donors; the sooner they run out of money, the sooner we’ll move on to the general election.

A landslide for Trump could launch general election season next week.

I’m cognizant of the fact that many of our readers are not Trump supporters and I have no intention of insulting them. I actually like DeSantis as a governor and I think despite the rhetoric that he hasn’t completely blown his chances in 2028, but his prospects in 2024 are essentially nil. Haley, on the other hand, is untenable and must be stopped. That’s why I would encourage DeSantis supporters to come home to Trump. The sooner that DeSantis drops out and backs Trump, the easier it will be for him to recover for another run at it in 2028.

Nikki Haley is adored by the UniParty Swamp because she’s one of them. She’s Dick Cheney in high heals. She’s a brunette Hillary Clinton. She puts the “Con” in NeoCon. She’s dangerous.

DeSantis PAC Begins Layoffs https://americanconservativemovement.com/desantis-pac-begins-layoffs/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/desantis-pac-begins-layoffs/#respond Thu, 18 Jan 2024 11:04:15 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=200459 (Freedom First Network)—The pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down is once again backing off after Governor Ron DeSantis’s lackluster performance in Iowa. Reports suggest that the PAC, which has been facing challenges in recent weeks, started laying off staff on Wednesday.

An unnamed individual associated with the group confirmed the layoffs to the New York Times. One of the affected employees, George Andrews, who had been working as a caucus precinct operations director in Iowa and listed himself as a state director in California on LinkedIn, shared that the reason for his departure was due to “budget cuts.”

Despite being let go, Andrews expressed understanding and support for the PAC’s greater goals for America.

The PAC has been surrounded by controversy, with some questioning the relationship between the PAC and the DeSantis campaign. The group has also experienced multiple departures, including former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, who resigned as the chair of Never Back Down. Communications director Erin Perrine and director of operations Matt Palmisano also left the group.

The Trump campaign has since labeled Perrine a “grifter,” claiming that she is attempting to use her past association with Trump to stay relevant as the DeSantis campaign struggles.

This news comes after DeSantis fell nearly 30 points behind Trump in Iowa, despite previously predicting victory in the state. The PAC has also canceled all of its 2024 ad reservations in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

Despite these setbacks, the DeSantis campaign remains determined, stating that he has earned his ticket out of Iowa.

Article generated by Discern Reporter from corporate media reports.

Editor’s Commentary: It’s over for DeSantis. He bet it all on Iowa and barely beat Nikki Haley for second. It’s a sad testament about poor political decisions; he likely would have been the de facto nominee in 2028 if he had stayed out of the 2024 race and endorse Donald Trump. Now, he’ll have a very difficult time recovering.

In the RealClear Politics piece, Mr. Cortes wrote that he had believed Republican voters were ready to move on from former President Donald Trump this election cycle, and “I now believe I was wrong.”

Mr. Cortes was an advisor in President Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns.

In May 2023, he announced his endorsement of Mr. DeSantis in a Newsweek editorial, writing that the “America First movement” was bigger than President Trump.

He made a case for Mr. DeSantis as “the best possible option to win the presidency in 2024” with few references to President Trump, but he later criticized the former president on social media.

As the spokesman of Never Back Down, Mr. Cortes was asked about Mr. DeSantis’s stalling poll numbers contrasting with President Trump’s consistent lead. His comment about the governor being “way behind” in the polls during a Twitter spaces event kicked off a spate of coverage about Mr. DeSantis’s embattled campaign.

In October, Mr. Cortes left his position as a spokesperson for Never Back Down but did not withdraw his support for the governor.

“Those of us who backed Ron DeSantis—or the other Republican candidates—should read the room,” he wrote in his new op-ed.

He pointed to President Trump’s victory streak in the polls and most recently in Iowa and said it was time to “coalesce and unite” behind the GOP voters’ favorite.

“We do not have the luxury of further internal strife and instead must gird for an epic battle this autumn against our opponents who are inflicting daily damage upon America,” Mr. Cortes wrote, echoing President Trump’s victory remarks after Iowa, where he called for unity and praised his GOP rivals for a change.

He inferred that voters want Trump because they “admire the resilience of this outsider who is so reviled by the ruling class” and see him as their champion, referencing the spate of legal cases against President Trump as examples of corruption.

Mr. Cortes wrote that time spent attacking President Trump “only dilutes the power of our cause” as the general election draws near.

Mr. Cortes urged unity against a second term for President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, pointing to the border crisis and inflation.

“At such a flashpoint in history like this one, political unity among conservatives is an imperative,” he wrote.

“How do we save America? It is time to unify behind former President Trump as he leads the battle against the ruling class and the oligarchs intent on destroying the American way of life.”

Mr. Cortes “pledged” to campaign for President Trump as he “proudly did in 2016 and 2020.”

The Primary Can End Next Week if MAGA Does Its Thing https://americanconservativemovement.com/the-primary-can-end-next-week-if-maga-does-its-thing/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/the-primary-can-end-next-week-if-maga-does-its-thing/#comments Tue, 16 Jan 2024 13:43:15 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=200406 Editor’s Note: I understand that not all of our readers are supporters of President Trump. Following the Iowa Caucuses, it’s understandable that many will not be happy to hear my personal support for him nor the call for New Hampshire to be his definitive victory, but know that I hold no ill-will toward those who supported Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, or Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Nikki Haley, on the other hand, is an existential threat and must be stopped. Trump is the person who can do that. I have been critical of Trump in the past and will continue to be critical of him when he does wrong, but Haley has no business in the White House. If that statement offends some, well, it is what it is. Haley’s supporters probably won’t want to read today’s column…

(Conservative Playbook)—The Iowa Caucuses ended exactly how most predicted: With a resounding win for Donald Trump. The gap was so wide with wins in 98 out of 99 counties that corporate media abandoned their planned narrative that the weather pushed him over the top.

Now, the powers-that-be who are trying to stop him are deciding how to proceed. Vivek Ramaswamy dropping out will almost certainly help Trump going into next week’s New Hampshire primary. Nikki Haley, who is polling in second place in the state, could only manage a third place finish in Iowa. Had she outperformed Ron DeSantis, the path forward for NeverTrumpers would be more clear since she’s projected to beat him next week. Losing to him in Iowa was a blow.

Corporate media is doing their part despite claims by the DeSantis team that they favor Trump. This notion is ludicrous considering how much they attack Trump, but it’s the storyline Team DeSantis has chosen so they’re sticking with it.

Of course, there’s this note from Michael Shellenberger that debunks those claims by Team DeSantis:

Both CNN and MSNBC carried the entirety of the speech by DeSantis, after openly refusing to carry the speech by Trump, even though Trump won a landslide with 51% against DeSantis’ 21%.

It’s madness. CNN and MSNBC are flagrantly embracing their role as propagandists.

Between the blowout in Iowa and the likelihood that neither DeSantis nor Haley will drop out before New Hampshire, it seems the best bad choice for NeverTrumpers is to try to manufacture a win for Haley. In other words, they’re going to cheat.

By the technical sense of the word, they don’t necessarily have to “cheat” by breaking the law (though that’s not out of the question). New Hampshire has an open primary which means Democrats can vote in it… and they will. Efforts have already been underway to get out the Democrat vote for Haley.

That’s how much they fear Trump. RINOs and Democrats are working together to generate a massive upset. But will it be enough? That depends on MAGA.

If Trump supporters come out like they did in Iowa, there aren’t enough Democrats who would be willing to counter the vote. Most recent polls show Trump up by double-digits over Haley, and that’s before his huge Iowa victory as well as her third place finish. It’s incumbent on MAGA to not only get the vote out to counter Haley’s Democrats but also to get the word out about Haley herself. She is a NeoCon to the highest degree. One can argue based on her actions and promises that she puts the Cheneys and Bushes to shame.

The only other play the NeverTrumpers can make is to get DeSantis to drop out. Don’t count that possibility out despite his promise to remain in the race even if he finished third in Iowa. Remember back to 2020 when both Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar were pressured into dropping out ahead of Super Tuesday. Had they stayed in the race, Bernie Sanders would have almost certainly won the Democrat nomination. Neither Buttigieg nor Klobuchar had a reason to drop out other than the pressure they received. That’s the influence of the powers-that-be and DeSantis is not immune to it.

If DeSantis stays in the race as he has promised, then Haley’s only hope is to cheat. This is why it’s imperative that Trump supporters remain diligent and push for the kill. A double-digit victory in New Hampshire could effectively end the nomination process. Haley would likely drop out rather than risk a career-ending loss in her home state the following week. DeSantis would likely stay in for South Carolina and Nevada but would likely call it quits after that. Then, it’s off to the general election for Trump.

Don’t get complacent. The powers-that-be want to extend the GOP primary season for as long as possible to drain Trump’s resources ahead of the general election. Haley is their best bet to do that. They’ll do anything they can to prop her up while they still can.

Sound off about this article on my Substack.
