According to Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 in Sacramento, Pearsall was shot through the chest after he struggled with the suspect for the gun.

“Per SFPD: 49ers Ricky Pearsall was shot through the chest in a robbery attempt over a Rolex,” Cunningham wrote on X. “He was headed to a signing event on Geary & Market. There was a struggle for the gun. Both Ricky & the suspect were shot. Both parties stable at SF General Hospital.”

SFPD Director of Strategic Communications called that shooting “tragic” and unacceptable.”

Thomas dominated women’s collegiate swimming at Penn State, winning the national championship in 2022 by competing against girls despite being a 6’1″ man. But World Aquatics, swimming’s international federation, established a policy against men competing against women in “elite” events, including the Olympics. For now, the Swiss court ruling will keep Thomas from living out his female fantasies at the highest level of his sport.

The Biden-appointed judge who wrote this absurd decision repeatedly used the propaganda term “sex assigned at birth,” as if sex were arbitrary and merely “assigned” to a newborn. On the contrary, biological science teaches that sex is determined long prior to birth, and does not change.

The transgender issue is boiling over in the courts. The U.S. Supreme Court, after earlier dodging this same transgender case and at least two others, sat on an emergency application by Idaho for an unusually long time of nearly two months before rendering a decision Monday that ducked the substance of a conservative Idaho law.

Two dozen states, including Idaho, have enacted laws protecting children against transgender operations and treatment, while the Supreme Court sidesteps the issue. Most of these laws have been challenged in federal courts by groups pushing the trans agenda, and the day after last Christmas a Clinton-appointed judge ordered a sweeping injunction blocking enforcement of Idaho HB 71.

But rather than affirm the authority of states to protect vulnerable children against irrevocable medical interventions, the Supreme Court instead rendered merely a procedural decision that cautioned against overly broad injunctions. In splintered opinions that Chief Justice Roberts refused to join, the high court reined in the Idaho federal district court without addressing the substance of the law.

There are billions of dollars at stake in profits from medical interventions for transgender purposes, and anyone in higher education who criticizes this lucrative field would risk losing career opportunities. By a wide margin, the most pro-transgender jurisdiction in our country is Washington, D.C., which might explain why the GOP-controlled House and Supreme Court have been so weak on this issue.

Three years ago Arkansas was the first state to ban transgender procedures on children, yet federal courts have still not allowed its good law to take effect. In an en banc sitting of 10 judges on the 8th Circuit last Thursday to review this law, nearly all of the Republican-appointed judges were unwilling to ask substantive questions of the ACLU attorney for the transgender plaintiff.

With Republican-appointed judges silent as though on the sidelines, the questioning was dominated by the court’s most liberal member, Obama-appointed Judge Jane Kelly, who apparently thinks the Arkansas law somehow discriminates on the basis of sex. Such a ruling by the court would trigger the difficult-to-satisfy standard of heightened scrutiny, by which legislation is typically invalidated.

Leftists who deny sex differences try to invalidate laws they don’t like by concocting arguments that they are discriminatory. Meanwhile the transgender culture holds a grip on D.C., and on most federal courts which depend on liberal law schools for their clerks.

On Friday, the Democrat governor of Kansas vetoed a bill protecting minors against transgender treatments and surgeries, even though a similar bill has passed in half of our country, overriding a governor’s veto in four states. Laws enacted in Kentucky and Tennessee were upheld by an appellate court, while a similar law in Alabama was reinstated by a different appellate court because the district court applied an incorrect standard to block it.

Republicans have a veto-proof majority in the Kansas state Senate, but the vote will be close in its state House. The outcome may depend on which legislators happen to be in attendance on the day that an override vote is held there.

Trump held a spectacular rally on Saturday evening in northeast Pennsylvania, considered by Biden to be his backyard where he grew up. There is even a President Biden Expressway in nearby Scranton, although a petition to restore the highway’s original name has attracted 17,000 signatures.

Trump scored many points talking about energy, explaining how Biden’s war on coal and oil have caused runaway inflation and hurt many in Pennsylvania.

Trump is the first major candidate to pledge to defund schools that mislead our children with transgender and other leftist ideologies. It is increasingly necessary to use the power of the purse to stop the transgender train.

Mr. Freedom, the Swiss-born, Turkish-raised athlete, changed his surname to Freedom to mark a new chapter in his life when he became a U.S. citizen in 2021.

Speaking at the recent FreedomFest conference in Memphis, Tennessee, the former NBA player was met with cheers from the libertarian crowd when asked about his potential run for office.

Mr. Freedom said that he wants to run in a state that values freedom and quipped about the electorate also enjoying plenty of sunshine and beaches. However, he believes that the current division within the country makes it too early for him to launch a political campaign.

“I will say it’s a little too early for me to run because right now, unfortunately, our country is so divided,” he told Fox News. “Once you get into politics, you lose 50 percent of the people.”

Despite the enthusiasm from some members on Capitol Hill, urging him to bring his voice to Congress or the Senate, Mr. Freedom said that he plans to wait for the right time to enter politics. He hinted that 2028 is a more likely year for his potential candidacy.

Mr. Freedom identified education as the number one priority he would focus on if he were to run for office. He stressed the importance of providing better opportunities for the younger generation to ensure a brighter future.

Mr. Freedom also expressed his commitment to promoting freedom and raising awareness about censorship issues.

At a July 11 hearing before the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, chaired by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Mr. Freedom claimed to have lost approximately $50 million in salaries and potential endorsements after his NBA career ended.

“According to my manager, I lost around $50 million dollars, with all the NBA contracts and endorsement deals that I could’ve signed,” the sportsman said.

“I sleep in peace at night knowing that I did the right thing. My only question is: How can the biggest dictatorship in the world, China, control an 100 percent American-made company and fire an American citizen?” he added.

Mr. Freedom said he is concerned about the fear among NBA players to express their beliefs in the face of “cancel culture.” He said NBA players fear repercussions in the form of lost contracts and endorsement deals.

Speaking to Fox News, Mr. Freedom reflected on the patriotism of Americans, recounting an incident in the locker room where his teammates “were calling America trash, and they were saying some really harsh things about America.”

He challenged their perspective by offering to show them the living conditions in countries like China, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and North Korea, highlighting the liberties and opportunities that the United States offers.

“People need to understand that how good we have it in this country,” Mr. Freedom said.

The upcoming 2024 presidential election will mark the first time Mr. Freedom is eligible to vote in the United States.

While he remained coy about revealing his favorite candidate, he mentioned that he has met with many of them. His main hope is to see a candidate who can unite the country and lead it to even greater heights.

“I just hope that whoever is going to unite this country and whoever is going to make this country even better than it is wins,” Mr. Freedom said.

Mr. Freedom has been vocal about human rights violations in Turkey for the past 11 years, including concerns about his own relatives being prosecuted under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government. He later shifted his activism toward China after being questioned by a parent at a basketball camp in New York about his silence on alleged abuses against Uyghur and other Muslim minority groups by the CCP.

The United States has also accused the CCP of genocide. China has repeatedly dismissed the claims as a smear campaign.

Just as the beer companies, fake conservative news networks, and so many iconic American companies before them, the sports leagues have turned their backs on generations of loyal fans in a display of repugnant pusillanimity.  I wonder whether the Judases will one day regret it.  I know that the ESG- and DIE-pushing communists are castrating corporate holdouts that resist the Woke Borg, but by bending to the Borg’s will, these companies have destroyed any goodwill with lifelong allies.  When the Marxists come for another pound of flesh from their corporate vassals — and another after that — those in charge will eventually be forced to fight back or surrender.  By that time, though, nobody will be willing to come to their defense.

This has always been the shortsighted corporate gamble of the Woke Wars — there’s never been a communist revolution that did not devour itself.  By yielding to those who have always hated them and betraying those who have long defended them, companies choosing to comply with woke orthodoxy are now entirely dependent on remaining in the Marxists’ good graces.  Yet grace is not something Marxists possess in any discernible quantity.

It is not that politically conservative and religious Americans have blindly defended corporate interests in the past, but rather that liberty-loving, rights-protecting people tend to mind their own business.  Their first reaction to a company’s success is not envy.  They do not immediately turn their sights on how best to confiscate another’s good fortune.

People who work hard for what they own do not worry about what somebody else owns.  They simply seek to be left alone.  Free markets that empower consumers to choose products and ideas for themselves naturally incubate personal liberty.  For these reasons, freedom-minded Americans have rarely turned their ire toward corporate entities.

That’s all changed.  No longer is the customer always right.  In the Woke Wars, corporations have decided that they will choose what products the customer must buy and which customers will be condemned for refusing.  The same Americans who never asked for anything are now told what to believe, how to act, how to pray, which sins to celebrate, and which virtues to ignore.

Corporations, once market-oriented organisms intent on reflecting cultural sentiment, now force-feed cultural slop to the unwilling.  And because this foul-smelling corporate fascism drenched in Marxist malice revolts freethinking Americans, corporations are increasingly becoming their enemies.

When the day comes that the Marxists are throwing Molotov cocktails through corporate windows or confiscating company assets as their own, there will not be a lot of sympathy from the millions of Americans who have long wished just to be left alone.  When the same corporate officers who harangued normal Americans as bigots are rounded up by the real bigots who tolerate no diversity of thought, their Marxist jailers will lack the compassion and forgiveness that Christians embrace.  When woke companies discover that they allied with untrustworthy partners, they will have already sealed their fate.

Of course, this phenomenon extends far beyond the relationship between corporations and ordinary Americans.  Everywhere you look, once robust American institutions have become brittle because they have made normal Americans their enemies.  Hardworking, athletic, intelligent warriors do not want to fight for a U.S. military that promotes men in skirts.

Law-abiding Americans do not trust an FBI or DOJ that targets half the population as potential “domestic enemies.”  Voters do not trust elections that are neither transparent nor verifiable.  Citizens do not trust prosecutors or courts that are politically partisan.  They do not trust a news industry that incessantly lies to them.  They do not trust federal agencies that embrace censorship.  They do not trust security forces that cannot protect America’s borders.  They do not trust banks that manipulate the value of their personal savings.  They do not trust federal authorities that hand over national sovereignty to international governing boards and insular cabals of billionaire “elites.”

Americans who once largely trusted in their system of self-governance now deeply distrust the system of woke oligarchy that has usurped it.  The woke oligarchy, having noticed this deepening distrust, has decided that the appropriate remedy is more State-sanctioned propaganda, censorship, and force-feeding of unpopular beliefs.  In this way, brittle institutions become only more brittle in a dreary doom loop leading to total Marxist tyranny or its eventual repudiation.

Jim Quinn wrote a compelling essay over at The Burning Platform entitled “Fall of American Empire and Descent into a New Dark Ages.”  In it he traces the many similarities between Edward Gibbon’s observations and analysis in The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire and our own present circumstances.  As in the years leading to Rome’s demise, moral depravity is rampant, while civic virtue has evaporated.

An overextended military gallops from one area of operations to the next, fighting costly wars with few long-term strategies.  A vast and profligate bureaucracy that has spent lavishly on buying votes and bribing various constituencies is forced to devalue its currency in order to pay the interest on its unsustainable debts.  An entrenched Deep State dedicates itself to plots, coups, and personal enrichment.  A land rich in resources produces nothing.  A regime dedicated to conquest abroad ignores domestic suffering.  Debased currency and crumbling infrastructure ensure future economic calamity.

Traitorous officials cover up their treason, while persecuting those who notice.  As Quinn sardonically concludes of our tragic circumstances, “I find nothing more appropriate to visually represent our clownworld empire falling than a picture of a dwarf clown, smoking a cigarette while holding a bouquet of wilted flowers in the pouring rain in front of a defunct circus tent.  If the clown shoe fits, wear it.”

The Woke Wars will certainly bring further pain and destruction.  As Quinn notes, it took roughly a thousand years for the Roman Empire to fall, three hundred for the British Empire, but only seventy-seven for the American Empire.  If technology and widespread communication have sped up the fall of empires, though, perhaps they will also quicken any Dark Age.

Something we possess today that did not exist fifteen hundred years ago is a growing, collective self-awareness about what is causing our society’s collapse.  During Rome’s centuries-long demise, a few prescient writers understood how rotten the empire had become, yet the average human enduring those turbulent years experienced poverty, famine, and social upheaval largely in the dark.  Those of us watching the woke corporate titans, central bankers, and unscrupulous politicians destroy the West today know exactly who should be blamed for what comes next.  Perhaps that is why they work so hard to divide and distract us.

LA Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen took a step that any Bible-believer should take when the company they work for celebrates blasphemy. That’s precisely what the Dodgers are doing by honoring “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” a hate group that attacks Catholics and Evangelicals alike on behalf of the trans-supremacy cult.

Treinan released a strong statement:

I am disappointed to see the Sister’s of Perpetual Indulgence being honored as heroes at Dodger Stadium. Many of their performances are blasphemous, and their work only displays hate and mockery of Catholics and the Christian faith.

I understand that playing baseball is a privilege, and not a right. My convictions in Jesus Christ will always come first. Since I have been with the Dodger’s they have been at the forefront of supporting a wide variety of groups.

However, inviting the Sister’s of Perpetual Indulgence to perform disenfranchises a large community and promotes hate of Christians and people of faith. This single event alienates the fans and supporters of the Dodgers, Major League Baseball, and professional sports. People like baseball for its entertainment value and competition. The fans do not want propaganda or politics forced on them. The debacle with Bud Light and Target should be a warning to companies and professional sports to stay true to their brand and leave the propaganda and politics off the field..

I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. I believe the word of God is true, and in Galatians 6:7 it says, ‘do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked; a man reaps what he sows.’ This group openly mocks Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of my faith, and I want to make it clear that I do not agree with nor support the decision of the Dodger’s to ‘honor’ the Sister’s of Perpetual Indulgence.

The Dodgers would be unwise to wade into these waters again. It seems that they won’t considering they initially disinvited the “Sisters” before reversing, then announced a “Christian Faith and Family Day” following their pride day events. But in a corporate world that’s being quickly dominated by ESG in general and CEI in particular, there’s no way to tell how far an organization will go to virtue signal to the powers-that-be.

Kudos to Treinen for speaking out. This should be considered a warning shot. If the Dodgers continue down the ultra-woke path, would Treinen ask for a trade? Would he be willing to abandon baseball over it? Let’s hope the team comes to its senses and we don’t have to find out how far Treinen would go to defend his faith.

As we wrote yesterday, either there is a new focus in media on reporting about the untimely deaths of athletes and young adults, or something very odd appears to be taking place across the country.

Jack Madison, a sophomore on the Colorado College men’s tennis team, passed away in his sleep on January 2nd, a new report from the Gazette, published yesterday, confirms. Colorado College vice president and director of athletics Lesley Irvine commented: “We are devastated by the tragic passing of Jack Madison.”

A sought after athlete, the piece notes that Madison was recruited “out of Bexley, Ohio, where he was a two-time all-state selection at Columbus Academy.” His cause of death has not been announced.

“As a community, we grieve his death and loss and hold all who cared for and loved Jack in the light during this time of grief, especially his family and friends,” the college said in a statement obtained by FOX. 

“He loved tennis and being part of CC’s tennis team, for which he was recruited. He engaged fully with campus life in a myriad of ways, embracing CC to the fullest. Jack was observant, super imaginative, creative, and independent-minded. His humor, deep thinking, and generous spirit were a gift in his friendships and to all of us,” it continued.

Madison’s death follows a growing list of mysterious deaths and medical episodes among young adults and athletes:

• On January 12, 2023, we wrote about 18 year old Jordan Brister, a Las Vegas High School student who collapsed and died in the bathroom after gym class.
• His death came the same week as the death of another Las Vegas High School student. Brister’s collapse was on January 8, 2023, and another student, 16 year old Ashari Hughes, had died just three days prior “following a flag football game at Desert Oasis High School” and suffering a “medical episode”.
• Also in the first week of January 2023, we wrote about 21 year old Air Force football player Hunter Brown, who suffered a “medical emergency” while walking to class and passed away.
• In the opening days of 2023 the MMA world was also shocked at the unexpected death of 18 year old Victoria Lee, a rising star on the the ONE Championship MMA promotion.
• In January 2023, we also highlighted Old Dominion basketball player Imo Essien collapsing on the court during the middle of a game.
• His collapse came a little more than a week after NFL player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field due to cardiac arrest after making what appeared to be a routine tackle.

Was Hahn making a political statement? Absolutely. Was it appropriate? Yep. Sports announcers invoke woke terminology regularly on-air with no repercussions. If anything, they get kudos from fawning fellow media. Hahn used an accurate term that counters the open borders narrative embraced by the woke so he is being punished.

Imagine if we leftists could take the outrage they feel about someone using “insensitive” words and channel it to outrage over the invasion at our southern border. Perhaps then we could end the national suicide of dismissed sovereignty.
