Needless to say, this could have a huge impact on the upcoming election.  If store shelves are quite bare in early November, millions of Americans will be in a very bad mood when they go to vote.

If it happens, the strike will begin on Tuesday.  This is the first time that we have seen a strike of this nature in nearly 50 years

Thousands of longshoremen at ports from New England to Texas are set to strike early Tuesday in the first walkout of its kind in almost half a century, freezing commercial shipping on a massive scale and disrupting the national economy weeks before the presidential election.

A strike would be the biggest disruption to the flow of goods in and out of the country since the height of the pandemic. Even a short-lived work stoppage would snarl shipping and create havoc in supply chains for weeks. Cargo ranging from cars to electronics, from food to furniture, would be stuck on ships offshore. Each day a strike lasts could cost the U.S. economy up to $1 billion, according to analysts.

If the strike only lasts for a few days, it won’t really be a big deal. But if it is an extended strike, major retailers such as Walmart and Home Depot will be facing massive supply chain headaches…

As the International Longshoremen’s Association port workers move closer to a strike at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports, the union is warning that major importers such as LG Electronics, Walmart, Ikea, Samsung, and Home Depot will find no options to divert trade to Canada or the West Coast as other unions close ranks in support of its labor battle.

These companies are among the leading importers at the 14 major ports that an ILA strike would impact, according to ImportGenius. Overall, between 43%-49% of all U.S. imports and billions of dollars in trade monthly are at stake as the union moves closer to the Oct. 1 deadline for a new contract, over which talks between the union and ports management broke down in June and have not resumed. Cruise operations at ports would continue.

Joe Biden could have used a provision in federal law to delay the strike until after the election, but he has chosen not to do that

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Sunday he did not intend to intervene to prevent a port strike on the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico if dock workers failed to secure a new contract by an Oct. 1 deadline.

“It’s collective bargaining. I don’t believe in Taft-Hartley,” he told reporters.

Presidents can intervene in labor disputes that threaten national security or safety by imposing an 80-day cooling-off period under the federal Taft-Hartley Act.

This could end up being a colossal strategic mistake on Biden’s part.

If an extended strike causes serious economic turmoil as Americans head to the polls, that will not be good for the Democrats.

According to CNN, if there is an extended strike we could soon experience “shortages of chocolate, alcohol, popular fruit, including bananas and cherries, and even certain cars”…

Businesses have been nervously watching the 12:01 am Tuesday strike deadline approaching with little sign of progress toward a deal to avoid a strike of tens of thousands longshore workers. Many have been doing what they can to prepare for the shutdown – but there are limits.

It doesn’t make economic – or logistical – sense to ship many of the goods that come into East Coast ports by alternative ports of entry – or by plane.

That means America could see some shortages of chocolate, alcohol, popular fruit, including bananas and cherries, and even certain cars if the strike lasts a long time. That could mean higher prices for the goods that are available.

Of course that would just be the tip of the iceberg.

As we witnessed during the COVID pandemic, thousands of different products can be in short supply when there are major supply chain disruptions.

And once the strike is over, it may take some time to get supply chains back to normal

As everyone discovered during the COVID-19 pandemic, container ports are a choke point in a supply chain as essential to daily life in the United States as water, electricity and telecommunications. Disruptions have a ripple effect throughout the economy and are exponentially compounded as goods pile up at ports, terminals, warehouses and other distribution points. So it takes longer to restart the flow of goods than it does to stop it. Considerably longer.

The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene is also going to have an enormous impact on supply chains.

Sadly, the storm caught the vast majority of the population off guard as it carved a path of “apocalyptic chaos” all over the South…

Apocalyptic chaos has struck down in the South as millions are left without power with desperate families lining up at gas stations and roving mobs steal generators.

The southeastern United States has been plunged into crisis as the aftermath of Hurricane Helene continues to wreak havoc across multiple states.

The storm has left a trail of destruction in its wake with the death toll rising to 64.

This is being called a “once in a generation” storm, and at this moment hundreds of roads in North Carolina and South Carolina are closed

About 300 roads are closed in North Carolina and another 150 are closed in South Carolina, acting Federal Highway Administrator Kristin White of the US Department of Transportation said Sunday. North Carolina officials on Sunday acknowledged those closures have hampered delivery of water supplies to communities in need, like the city of Weaverville in Buncombe County, which is without both power and water, Mayor Patrick Fitzsimmons said.

Even the largest highways in the region have been devastated.

In fact, it is being reported that Interstate 40 is “impassable” right now…

Interstate 40 is impassable between Tennessee and Asheville, North Carolina, and beyond, because of catastrophic floods from the remnants of Hurricane Helene.

A mudslide and flooding have shut down the route.

What a nightmare.

As I shared with my core supports on Friday, recovery is going to be measured in years in some areas.

One official in North Carolina is even comparing the storm to Hurricane Katrina

Towns throughout western North Carolina, including Swannanoa, were transformed overnight by the massive storm. Muddy floodwaters lifted homes from their foundations. Landslides and overflowing rivers severed the only way in and out of small mountain communities. Rescuers said they were struggling to respond to the high number of emergency calls. Anxious relatives took to Facebook to search for loved ones they hadn’t heard from.

“This is looking to be Buncombe County’s own Hurricane Katrina,” said Avril Pinder, the manager of the county, which includes Asheville.

This storm wasn’t supposed to be this powerful.

But after everything that we just witnessed, it is now being projected that the total damage from Helene could exceed 100 billion dollars

Helene, a Category 4 hurricane when she hit the Big Bend of Florida on Thursday night, is forecast to leave behind between $95 billion and $110 billion in damage and economic loss. Property damage alone is forecast by Moody’s to run $15 billion to $26 billion.

Last year, the number of “billion dollar disasters” established a brand new record.

It appears that we will break that record this year.

But of course what we have been through so far is nothing compared to what is coming.

We really are living in apocalyptic times, and the chaos is just getting started…

The Baltimore Bridge Collapse Is Going to Have an Enormous Impact on U.S. Supply Chains https://americanconservativemovement.com/the-baltimore-bridge-collapse-is-going-to-have-an-enormous-impact-on-u-s-supply-chains/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/the-baltimore-bridge-collapse-is-going-to-have-an-enormous-impact-on-u-s-supply-chains/#comments Wed, 27 Mar 2024 10:35:51 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=202233 (The Economic Collapse Blog)—When I awoke early on Tuesday morning, I was stunned to learn that the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore had collapsed.  We are being told that it was a tragic “accident” and that there is no evidence that any foul play was involved.

Hopefully that is true.  But no matter how it was caused, this tragedy is going to have an enormous impact on U.S. supply chains.  And of course this comes at a really bad time, because Houthi missile strikes in the Red Sea and low water levels in the Panama Canal have been putting a tremendous amount of strain on global supply chains recently.

According to Bloomberg, it appears that the Port of Baltimore will be “out of commission indefinitely”

The Port of Baltimore — the biggest handler of US imports and exports of cars and light trucks — looks to be out of commission indefinitely. The resulting bottleneck could accelerate a shift of goods through West Coast ports. Another crucial question: Which other ports have spare capacity to handle the Ro-Ro vessels that carry automobiles if Baltimore is closed for an extended period.

This is a really big deal, because over 750,000 vehicles came through that port last year alone…

The port is the busiest in the U.S. for car shipments, handling more than 750,000 vehicles in 2023, according to data from the Maryland Port Administration. It is also the largest U.S. port by volume for handling farm and construction machinery, as well as agricultural products.

In addition, a whole host of prominent retailers are very dependent on the Port of Baltimore…

Retailers like Home Depot, Bob’s Furniture, IKEA, and Amazon are just some of the companies that use the port to import goods. Other top imports include sugar and gypsum.

“This will have an impact for trade all along the East Coast and it will continue until we know how quickly” the port can reopen, said Richard Meade, editor-in-chief of the shipping journal Lloyd’s List.

Vessels were already being diverted to New York and down to Virginia on Tuesday, said Meade. “There will be dozens of diversions in the next week and hundreds in the coming months as long as Baltimore is shut down.”

This isn’t the end of the world, and shipments can certainly be diverted to other ports.

But we are talking about the 11th largest port in the entire nation, and so this will definitely be a serious blow

More than 52 million tons of foreign cargo, worth some $80 billion were transported out of the port last year, according to Maryland Gov. Wes Moore. The 11th largest port in the nation, Baltimore served an average of 207 calls a month last year, according to the shipping journal Lloyd’s List.

In addition, it is going to take a very long time for the Francis Scott Key Bridge to be rebuilt. As Lara Logan has pointed out, that section of I-695 was the “second busiest strategic roadway in the nation for hazardous material”…

Second busiest strategic roadway in the nation for hazardous material now down for 4-5 years – which is how long they say it will take to recover. Bridge was built specifically to move hazardous material – fuel, diesel, propane gas, nitrogen, highly flammable materials, chemicals and oversized cargo that cannot fit in the tunnels – that supply chain now crippled.

One expert is projecting that it will take more than two years to rebuild the bridge…

While trade is nimble and will reroute, over the long term the bridge will need to be fundamentally engineered and rebuilt, and that will take years.

“It will be in excess of two years,” said Meade, of Lloyd’s List. “There will be significant disruption and cost to this infrastructure project. In 1977, the bridge cost $60 million. Take in inflation and the rapid pace to redesign and build will increase procurement premiums. This will be a very expensive project.”

I would be shocked if it happens that quickly.

We shall see.

In any event, we are talking about a multi-faceted crisis that is going to be affecting U.S. supply chains for the foreseeable future.

At a press conference following the collapse of the bridge, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg openly admitted that we are looking at a “major and protracted impact on supply chains”

“There is no question this will be a major and protracted impact on supply chains,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said during a Tuesday afternoon press conference in Baltimore.

I think that this is the first time I have ever agreed with Pete Buttigieg on anything.

Sadly, this is just the beginning. In the months ahead, U.S. supply chains will be hit with additional challenges. So if there are things that you are planning to purchase, I would do that now.

Before I end this article, there is one more thing that I wanted to mention. Global supplies of cocoa just keep getting tighter and tighter, and on Tuesday the price of cocoa jumped above $10,000 per metric ton for the first time ever

Cocoa prices hit a record Tuesday as supply constraints fuel prices higher.

Futures for May delivery were up 3.9% at $10,030 per metric ton, marking the first time the commodity breaks above the $10,000 mark. Cocoa has been on a tear this year, soaring nearly 138%.

Difficult weather conditions and disease have affected production in West Africa, which produces about 70% of the world’s cocoa. The two largest producers, Ivory Coast and Ghana, have been hit by a combination of heavy rain, dry heat and disease recently.

In January, it was less than half that price.

If you love chocolate, stock up on it while you still can. Of course the same thing could be said about countless other things.

Do you remember the supply chain problems that we experienced a couple of years ago? Well, what is eventually coming is going to absolutely dwarf that. Many are using the term “black swan event” to describe the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, but the truth is that we are moving into a time when there will be one “black swan event” after another.

So get prepared while there is still an opportunity to do so, because the months and years ahead of us are going to be extremely chaotic.

Supply Chain Chaos: Key Global Electrical Products Supplier Announces 20-Week Delay for Many Components https://americanconservativemovement.com/supply-chain-chaos-key-global-electrical-products-supplier-announces-20-week-delay-for-many-components/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/supply-chain-chaos-key-global-electrical-products-supplier-announces-20-week-delay-for-many-components/#respond Mon, 18 Dec 2023 05:11:44 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=199479 (Natural News)—The world’s second largest manufacturer of electrical components has announced a 20-week delay for “engineered-to-order” (ETO) components.

Schneider Electric produces electrical products that are absolutely critical for daily life: things like electrical infrastructure, industrial automation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and so much more rely on parts made by Schneider Electric – without them, the world as we currently know it will cease to exist.

ETO projects are essential to both public and private infrastructure. The power grid, for one, requires them. Any kind of delay in their production and delivery means the electrical grid is just one calamity away from potentially becoming a grid-down blackout situation.

Even more ominous is the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently warned about cyberattacks involving, you guessed it: the same types of ETO equipment that Schneider Electric manufactures.

In other words, the FBI is setting the stage, possibly through predictive programming, for major calamities to come by claiming that there will soon be cyberattacks involving the very same equipment produced by Schneider Electric that will be delayed at least through Q1 2024.

“The reason this is so weird is this company is very good at planning,” an industry insider is quoted as saying about the situation. “They supply billions of dollars in critical components.”

“They aren’t perfect, but they usually have a plan when they announce something like this. Not this time. The plans behind the announcement letter (shown below) are very shallow. They got the note out way before anyone on their teams knew what is going on. Many questions with no answers. That is very weird.”

(Related: When extreme food shortages and rationing inevitably arrive on America’s doorstep, World War III will be the excuse.)

Is another world war coming?

In a notice to the company’s partners, Senior Vice President Charles Buckley explained that, starting on December 7, all current shipment schedules of ETO products will be revised. Existing Q1 orders will be extended later into the year “to level-set production across several plants due to high demand and persistent supply chain challenges for these complex customized solutions.”

“This measure is expected to provide more accurate and reliable communication to customers and significantly reduce or eliminate the need for multiple delay notifications,” the letter reads. “We anticipate a delay of up to 20 weeks for several of our product lines.”

According to Buckley, order intake has greatly exceeded industry expectations and material availability. Much of this pressure is coming from fast-growing U.S. market segments including semiconductors and electric vehicles (EVs), the latter of which involve expansion of infrastructure, manufacturing, and batteries.

“These segments require domestic and global raw materials such as resin, plastics, specialty metals, and electronics, which are also needed in the electrical equipment industry,” the letter goes on to explain.

“U.S. domestic investments in infrastructure projects (water, utility, airports), and geopolitical tensions are additional pressures on supply, impacting the reliability of upstream supply and shipment schedules.”

Some speculate that this is just a cover story, and that this “wait and hold” for critical infrastructure is to allow Schneider Electric room to step in and replace damaged critical infrastructure following a cyberattack, as the FBI is warning could occur.

Another possibility for the 20-week delay is that certain projects are having to undergo a critical redesign, potentially due to the discovery of holes in existing security systems.

In recent weeks, dozens of news reports have surfaced about localized cyberattacks, including one involving water systems in Hawaii and another involving the Texas power grid.

“Preparations for a world war are clearly taking place in very many countries around the world,” one report suggests. “For the first time, U.S. citizens are likely to see the direct consequences of war on our own soil.”

15 Items That Will Disappear From Store Shelves Next Month https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-items-that-will-disappear-from-store-shelves-next-month/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-items-that-will-disappear-from-store-shelves-next-month/#respond Fri, 24 Nov 2023 05:15:56 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=198728 (Epic Economist)—It’s time to prepare yourself for the winter that is coming! In a few short weeks, a seasonal shift in consumer demand will leave some empty shelves at grocery stores, new reports reveal.

Weaker-than-expected harvest seasons and other manufacturing challenges have hit the biggest food companies in the country really hard throughout the year. And now, many retailers are already reporting inventory holes at a time when they should be receiving more supplies to prepare for the all-important holiday season.

For example, Americans might have to go out of their way to find asparagus for their holiday recipes next month. Michigan, California, and New Jersey reported an 11% reduction in the number of asparagus crops planted this year, and farmers also cited losses caused by fungus and beetles during the harvest season.

While more people will be looking for the veggie at big-box stores in the weeks ahead, retailers won’t likely be able to fulfill the entire demand. At local farmers’ markets, prices can be higher this season, but you’ll have greater chances of getting what you need for the perfect holiday dinner.

Similarly, flour, butter, shortenings, and oils are not only costing more but also becoming more scarce at grocery stores in 2023. The worldwide shortage of grains has been pushing the production of flour and vegetable oils down since 2022. Meanwhile, dairy products are being impacted by higher cow slaughter this year. And now that seasonal demand for baking supplies is about to grow home and professional bakers might have to fight for the available supply, according to Bloomberg. With holiday celebrations about a month away, many bakers have already started stocking up on the ingredients they’ll need. Those who haven’t yet should start making preparations now because many products may be sold out over the next couple of weeks.

You also might have heard about the massive decline in U.S. cattle production this year. A historic drought, rising fuel, and feed costs, as well as labor shortages, have all combined to create a perfect storm for the nation’s ranchers. Prices are expected to soar, too. According to the USDA, they are likely to double from a year ago levels.

The best cuts, including filet mignon and ribeye, will not only face even bigger price increases but also become harder to find, given that this year’s beef cows were much smaller than usual, and produced less meat. If you haven’t purchased steak for your holiday celebrations yet, don’t wait too long because you may struggle to get what you want.

Weather emergencies, supply chain disruptions, and an ongoing freight market crisis will exacerbate shortages and prevent retailers from restocking their shelves over the next weeks and months. Don’t wait until the last minute to search for the products you will need because you might end up paying a lot more than you would if you had prepared sooner. The holiday shopping frenzy has only just begun, and we should brace for a whole lot of chaos at U.S. stores next month.

In this video, we tracked the new product shortages that are about to hit the U.S. market in December and beyond so you can stay ahead of the shortages and get ready for the dark winter that is ahead of us.

Shipping Prices Will Double From Current Levels as Supply Chain Nightmare Begins https://americanconservativemovement.com/shipping-prices-will-double-from-current-levels-as-supply-chain-nightmare-begins/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/shipping-prices-will-double-from-current-levels-as-supply-chain-nightmare-begins/#comments Thu, 03 Aug 2023 00:51:06 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=195457 Have you noticed that delivery delays are becoming a lot more frequent recently? That’s because a new set of supply chain disruptions are impacting the shipping and trucking industry right now.

Both maritime and road transportation companies are facing labor and capacity issues, increased costs, and bankruptcies in recent months, and these problems are rapidly pushing freight and shipping rates to levels last seen in the 2021 crisis, when supply chain bottlenecks triggered a 500% spike in transportation costs, consequently making the price of the items we buy and consume shoot up at retail stores and supermarkets from all around the nation.

So far this year, three of the biggest trucking companies in the U.S. have collapsed, and the latest of such incidents is threatening to bring widespread empty shelves back to our local stores in the next few weeks. The 2023 supply chain nightmare has already begun, and today, we’re going to reveal what’s truly behind this crisis.

While major shipping companies continue to report better-than-expected financial results, freight rates are now averaging $3,998 per forty-foot equivalent unit, meaning that they’re 85% more expensive than before the outbreak hit the U.S., according to data provided by Hapag-Lloyd, the world’s fifth-largest shipping line.

These rates are expected to soar even more during the fall, the U.S. peak importing season. In the past two weeks alone, the average spot-market price to ship a 40-foot container from Asia to the US West Coast rose 34%, as reported by transport data firm Xeneta.

Conditions have changed drastically in recent months, as major shipping companies have gone under, erasing capacity and eliminating thousands of jobs from the system. In order words, the labor issues that caused U.S. ports to be clogged up just a couple of years ago, and wreak havoc on the trucking industry due to a shortage of drivers

Yellow was a 99-year-old firm, that became famous for its competitive prices, and its huge fleet of over 12,000 trucks that shipped freight across America for big brands such as Walmart and Home Depot. As it turns out, the firm’s bankruptcy will affect more than just the supply chain, but also American taxpayers because Yellow owed the federal government a huge amount of money. As of late March, the company had an outstanding debt of about $1.5 billion. Of that, $729.2 million was owed to the federal government.

The U.S. job market is going to suffer, too. Yellow’s closure is the biggest in terms of jobs and revenue in the U.S. trucking industry, according to industry experts. Over 30,000 workers were left without jobs due to the firm’s bankruptcy. Even the cost of sending packages between states is going up this month.

The US Postal Service increased the cost of Priority Mail by about 5.5%. Priority Mail Express became 6.6% more expensive, First Class Package Service prices were bumped up by 7.8% and Priority Mail commercial rates increased by about 3.6%. That’s why we should all start getting ready for chaos at supply chains once again.

The catalysts of this crisis may be different from last time, but they’re creating problems just as severe as those we have faced before. After supply chains have been broken, they were never the same, and every time a new bottleneck emerges, we are at risk of seing cascading failures on the system that can rapidly plunge our entire country into disarray.

15 Prepping Items That Will Disappear From the Stores in 2023 https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-prepping-items-that-will-disappear-from-the-stores-in-2023/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/15-prepping-items-that-will-disappear-from-the-stores-in-2023/#respond Sun, 16 Jul 2023 11:33:46 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=194832 Editor’s Note: This list by Epic Economist is very basic and incomplete. Experienced preppers will likely laugh at it. But here’s the thing. Not all of us have been prepping for years or even months. This video is a great start in order for those new to prepping to look ahead and get ready. Here’s Epic Economist…

After supply chains broke in 2021, things have never come back to the way they once were. Sudden shortages of essential products have become all too common by now. Grocery and retail stores are still struggling to keep shelves stocked, and we learned that many of them are one emergency event away from seeing inventories run out. Times are tougher, too.

We’re spending a larger share of our paychecks to buy the same products. This is partly because consumer demand continues to outpace available supply, which is fueling inflation across many categories, and keeping the cost of living at historic highs. Industry insiders are telling us conditions will get even more difficult as we enter a deep recession.

The California drought has shown just how quickly water shortages can occur and how badly this can disrupt our food systems. Water filters and purifiers are essential for any stockpile, and people start chasing for them any time an emergency seems imminent.

During the Texas freeze of 2021, the super-low temperatures led water pipelines to burst, and millions of people lost access to clean water for days. These situations highlight the importance of having these products on hand because systems can break at any minute, and in some situations, going to the stores is no longer an option, so stock up on these while you still can do so.

We’ve learned the hard way that personal hygiene products, including toilet paper, are the first to disappear when people hear about any problems with the supply chain or weather emergencies. The cost of these goods has seen a significant increase in recent years, up almost 17% since 2021. It’s safe to say that when people start rushing to the stores to get these goods again, we will have to pay even more expensive prices for them.

It’s always a good idea to have extra toothbrushes, soaps, moisturizers, razors, and hand sanitizers. Look for deals, and don’t forget to consider the necessities of each family member.

The Energy Information Association has warned several times that our domestic supplies of fuels remain tight. One single disruption can trigger extensive outages, just as it happened to gas stations in Florida earlier this year. Gasoline supplies are below their historical average for this time of the year, EIA data show, and for those who need their cars to work or travel regularly, a shortage can turn into a nightmare very quickly.

If you haven’t yet, make sure you build a safe supply of fuels before seasonal price increases take place and weather events or other disruptions hit stations nationwide.

Preparedness is ultimately a way to teach us how to make conscious choices, save money, manage time and prevent all the unnecessary stress we would experience if we did things at the last moment. It’s a way to assess our needs and make provisions for our loved ones so everyone has their needs covered even in the event of an emergency. You can create your stockpile according to your budget, your preferences, and your individual plan. Everyone’s stockpile is different, and learning what makes sense for you is one of the most important lessons you can learn with this practice.

That’s why preparing in advance is crucial to survive the turbulent period we’re about to enter. Today, we listed a few products that are key in any prepper stockpile and can disappear from the stores before we even notice.

Here’s the list:

  1. Water Filters and Purifiers
  2. Toiletries
  3. Seasoned Firewood
  4. Fuel
  5. Self-Defense Tools
  6. Baby Supplies
  7. Gasoline Containers
  8. Garbage Bags
  9. Powdered Milk
  10. Garden Seeds
  11. Clothing Repair Kits
  12. Fire Starters
  13. Bleach
  14. Rain Gear
  15. Canning Supplies

Chances are strong more items will be added to this list through comments at Late Prepper, so check it out and sound off.

Truckers Warn About Disastrous Freight Market Collapse as Rates Face Massive Drop https://americanconservativemovement.com/truckers-warn-about-disastrous-freight-market-collapse-as-rates-face-massive-drop/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/truckers-warn-about-disastrous-freight-market-collapse-as-rates-face-massive-drop/#respond Thu, 08 Jun 2023 09:06:51 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=193383 US truckers and trucking companies are warning we’re in the middle of a freight recession worse than the 2008 crisis. As retail sales drop, and both manufacturing and import activity continue to slow down due to lower consumer demand in 2023, the road transportation industry is seeing orders being cut in half, leading to falling cargo volumes all across the country.

The collapse was the word used by one industry CEO to define what just happened to freight rates, and that is putting several trucking companies at serious risk of bankruptcy. But according to Western States Trucking Association, the ongoing downturn in the freight market is only a sign something far more distressing is about to break out in America.

When the health crisis locked people at home and Americans started to order more goods online, the freight market boomed, and rates shot up by up to 500% in some areas. But things have started to cool off in 2022, and since then, per-mile rates have been plunging at the fastest pace on record.

By November, prices were already nearing pre-pandemic levels. On the other hand, higher maintenance prices, as well as an increase in the cost of capital, and other difficulties in operating have resulted in a brutal mix for a notoriously cyclical industry — one that has the potential to be worse than famous trucking downturns experienced in 2019 and in 2008-09.

Today, instead of a shortage, the freight market is flooded with thousands of small-scale owner-operators and carriers of all sizes. But the threat of a deep recession is now reducing demand for goods, and as a result, cargo volumes are plunging all over the US. On top of that, data provided by Freight Waves shows that the per-mile rate fell to $1.49. At the peak of the boom in 2021, drivers were pulling in as much as $3.01 per mile. This means that freight rates declined by 52% so far, and could go even lower in the months ahead.

This means that there is far less money to be made in the sector. For those who made high investments to be able to enter the industry and profit from the boom, this may be just the beginning of a financial disaster. Since December, thousands of small carriers have revoked their operating authority, and bankruptcies started to arise in the truckload industry.

To make things worse, a recent CNBC supply chain survey that analyzed inventories and warehouse space tracked a decrease in truck movements in and out of the warehouse, revealed that ocean freight orders are down 50% year over year and that will keep impacting both rail and road Transportation in the short and long run, with trucking executives calling it “freight recession.”This along with a 40% decrease in manufacturing orders, are very bad news for the freight market.

The economic recession that is now upon us is going to shake entire industries to the core, millions of layoffs are expected, and economic and financial uncertainty will only grow worse. The crisis that is now unfolding before us will be unlike anything we’ve ever experienced, and the freight market meltdown is just one of the multiple indicators that something is terribly wrong in our system and that the dominoes have already started to fall.

Amid Drug Shortages, Alternative Treatments for Fever and Cough https://americanconservativemovement.com/amid-drug-shortages-alternative-treatments-for-fever-and-cough/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/amid-drug-shortages-alternative-treatments-for-fever-and-cough/#respond Sat, 24 Dec 2022 22:05:22 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=187023 Editor’s Commentary: Admittedly, I am nowhere near being well-versed on holistic or natural medicines and treatments. My wife handles all of that; whenever anyone gets sick, she whips up something and we get better. She takes the hybrid approach by going all-natural to treat some ailments while going to the doctor and getting standard medications to treat others.

But even those who aren’t into natural remedies may need a crash course on them if the pharmaceutical supply chain continues to head toward collapse. We are already seeing crowded hospitals and shortages at the pharmacies. That’s why when the article below by Emma Suttie from our premium news partners at The Epoch Times crossed my desk, I knew I needed to read it. Then, I realized I needed to share it with my “late prepper” friends who, like me, may need to be introduced to alternatives before it’s too late.

This is why we work with a sponsor that specializes in shipping antibiotics after an easy telehealth appointment. I took them on as a sponsor AFTER taking advantage of their services because I recognize the need to be prepared for the shortages and advancing medical tyranny that the powers-that-be have in store for us.

Americans need to take charge of our lives and acquire both the resources and the skills necessary to avoid being dependent in any way on government. Those who are beholden to Powers and Principalities in order to survive will be subjugated. Those who can take care of themselves will have an easier time remaining free. Here’s the article by Emma Suttie…

Alternative Treatments for Fever and Cough

With the present shortages of over-the-counter medicines for coughs, colds, and flu, this seems like the perfect time to talk about natural remedies. These can be helpful when we either don’t have medications on hand, or simply want a more natural approach to dealing with common illnesses. Natural medicines are beneficial as they are non-toxic and support our body’s own healing process. If used at the first sign of illness, many can shorten its severity and duration. Here are some natural approaches—many used by cultures worldwide for centuries—to help get you back into tip-top shape.

Treatments for Fever

Fevers are our bodies’ natural reaction to infection. A fever is part of a healthy immune response and communicates that we are mounting an appropriate defense against an unwanted invader. As parents, it is always difficult seeing our children sick, and it is our instinct to do whatever we can to make them feel better.

In the case of fevers, unless they are very high, it can be beneficial to let the fever do the work of fighting the infection. Fevers slow down pathogens and their replication; therefore, a fever slows down the spread and severity of an illness.

If a fever gets too high (104+), it’s a good idea to get it down. This is the work of many drugs, but this can also usually be achieved with a lukewarm or cool bath. Eating will also usually bring a fever down slightly if you or your little one feel up to it. Very high fevers burn fluids and increase the risk of dehydration. Make sure to drink plenty of clear liquids, and children can have water or diluted fruit juice for hydration and to keep blood sugar within normal range. Fevers also deplete vitamin A, so be sure to supplement with vitamin A-rich foods (like fish oils, kale, spinach, broccoli, milk, and eggs) after a bout with a fever.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Yarrow is a common herb and is well known for its ability to bring down a fever. It is considered a diaphoretic herb, meaning it makes you sweat, helping the body eliminate toxins through the skin and urine. Yarrow also purifies and moves the blood, treats urinary infections, and heals wounds.

In a comparative study in the Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Studies, yarrow demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce fevers in animal models.

research review published in Current Pharmaceutical Design in 2008 discussed the traditional use of yarrow for this purpose. “The genus Achillea consists of about 140 perennial herbs native to the Northern hemisphere. Traditional indications of their use include digestive problems, liver and gall-bladder conditions, menstrual irregularities, cramps, fever, wound healing,” it noted.

review on the biological activities of yarrow published in the Journal Current Pharmaceutical Design, mentions yarrow’s analgesic, anti-ulcer, choleretic (which stimulate the production of bile by the liver), liver protecting and wound healing abilities and that data has accumulated demonstrating its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Yarrow regulates blood flow to the entire body and, with its ability to induce sweating, helps regulate body temperature and fluids—eliminating heat and toxins and reducing a fever.

The dried herb can be bought online and at some health food shops. Always try to buy organic when possible to avoid pesticides and other chemicals.

For fevers, drink yarrow tea (instructions below) or add 8 cups of yarrow tea to a hot bath.

Yarrow Tea

For tea, pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls of the dried herb and leave to infuse for 10 to 15 minutes. Drink this tea three times a day. For a fever, drink the tea hot hourly.

Ginger ( Zingiber officinale)

Ginger is warming in nature and induces sweating, helping treat fevers and eliminate toxins. It is also used as a stimulant for problems with circulation and to soothe digestive issues.

The results of one clinical trial, published in Phytotherapy Research in November, 2022, found a combination of four plants commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine (ashwagandha, boswellia, ginger and turmeric) was effective on hospitalized moderate COVID-19 patients who received it, along with standard care.

The mixture, dubbed BV-4051 by the researcher, had noted effects.

“In BV-4051 group the mean reduction in duration of illness (p = 0.036), alleviation and severity scores of several symptoms like fever, cough, smell, and taste disorders were statistically significant,” they wrote.

research review published in Phytomedicine: International Journal of Phytotherapy and Phytopharmacology, in 2005 summarized previous research on the herb using animal models.

“Animal studies demonstrate effects on the gastrointestinal tract, the cardiovascular system, on experimental pain and fever, antioxidative, antilipidemic and antitumor effects, as well as central and other effects,” wrote the researchers.

In Chinese medicine, fresh ginger is called sheng jiang. It is a warming herb used to induce sweating, disperse cold, benefit a cough, and alleviate nausea and vomiting.

Ginger Tea

Cut a slice or two of fresh ginger root, put it into a pot of water, and bring to a boil. Then drink as a tea. Add lemon (high in vitamin C) or honey to taste. The tea will help to induce sweating, bring down a fever, soothe any digestive upsets, and help a cough. Hot ginger tea taken at the first sign of a cold or flu can help the body build resistance and avoid infection.

Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum)

Boneset is an excellent herb to treat fevers and is a great choice for colds, the flu, and respiratory infections. It can be used for phlegm, as it discourages its production and helps eliminate it from the body. Boneset also fights bacterial and viral infections and makes you sweat, helping reduce a fever. Boneset will also help ease the aches and pains associated with the flu and helps clear the body of any build-up of toxins through the bowels.

“E. perfoliatum extract has marked antiviral activity,” notes a study published in Journal of ethnopharmacology in January 2022. The researchers were studying the effects of the plant in vivo for treatment of dengue virus.

Boneset Tea

The dried herb can be bought at most health food shops and made into a tea. Pour a cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoonfuls of the dried herb and leave for 10-15 minutes. It should be drunk as hot as possible. For treatment of fevers or flu, drink every half hour.

*Boneset should not be used by pregnant women or young children and is not recommended for long-term use.

Lukewarm Baths

If a fever gets above 103, it’s a good idea to bring it down. This can usually be achieved by getting into a lukewarm or cool bath. Although this is not comfortable initially, it will temporarily lower your body temperature and reduce a fever if it gets too high. If a bath sounds too drastic, you can take a face cloth soaked in cold water and hold it up to the creases in your elbows and behind your knees to help gently reduce body temperature. Remember to keep hydrated with water, clear liquids, or diluted fruit juice.

Cough

Cough suppressants may alleviate the symptoms of coughing but other treatments can offer similar relief with additional benefits.

Honey

Raw honey has antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used throughout history as a cough suppressant. It can help with seasonal allergies and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. I prefer to use raw honey as the pasteurization process undergone by regular honey destroys many of its natural medicinal properties.

In a clinical trial published in the archives of pediatrics and adolescent medicine, one hundred and five children aged two to eighteen were given either honey, honey flavored dextromethorphan (DM) or no treatment. Of the three treatments, parents rated honey the most favorably for symptomatic relief of their child’s nighttime cough and difficulty sleeping due to a respiratory tract infection.

Honey is known as feng mi in Chinese medicine. It benefits the digestive system and is very moisturizing, particularly to the lungs. It also has a mildly laxative quality, so it should be consumed with caution if you are prone to loose stools—although its lubricating quality makes it a great treatment for constipation. Because of honey’s impressive health benefits, it is also commonly used as a daily tonic.

For a cough, take a spoonful of raw honey directly or use it to make a natural cough syrup. Taking a spoonful of raw honey twice a day will benefit a cough and help to moisturize the throat.

*Never give honey to a child less than one-year-old. Clostridium, a bacteria that causes botulism, can contaminate some foods—including honey. As a child grows, their immune systems develop and can handle the bacteria.

Honey Water

Drinking warm water with raw honey increases its moistening and lubricating effects and is beneficial for a dry cough, sore throat, and constipation. It can be drunk as needed for cough and symptoms of dryness.

Ginger

Ginger is an excellent remedy for coughs and helps to eliminate phlegm and other toxins from the body. Just add a few fresh slices of ginger root to a pot of water and bring to a boil, then drink as a tea to receive its beneficial effects. (see above in fevers).

Thyme  (Thymus vulgaris)

Thyme has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties. It strengthens the immune system and is an excellent remedy for coughs.

Thyme is a strong antiseptic and makes a good gargle that can be used for bronchitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis, and whooping cough. It is an excellent remedy for irritating coughs as it is an expectorant and soothes spasms. It is also beneficial for sore throats.

Thyme can be used as an essential oil or tea to boost the immune system, and a gargle is beneficial for treating throat problems and coughs. Be aware that thyme essential oil is very strong, must be diluted in a carrier oil, and should only be used externally.

review in a Polish Journal in 2016 studied thyme for coughs associated with upper respiratory tract infections. It noted that thyme is a spasmolytic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antioxidant agent, and found that using a drug with the addition of extracts from thyme and primrose alleviated the effects of cough and shortened its duration.

Thyme Tea & Gargle

To make tea, pour 2 cups of boiling water over two teaspoons of the dried herb and let it infuse for ten minutes. Drink three times a day.

You can dilute the tea with additional water, let it cool, and use it as a gargle.

Cleanse & Detoxify The Body

Your body is constantly flushing out cellular debris and various byproducts from metabolism, not to mention unwelcome substances we’ve eaten (additives, preservatives, etc) or absorbed from our cosmetics. We can help the body with these processes in several ways, including drinking plenty of pure water and eating a clean diet.

Epsom Salt Baths

Epsom salt baths are a wonderful way to relax the body and ease the pain of sore muscles. Epsom salts contain magnesium sulfate (made up of magnesium, sulfur and oxygen) which, when dissolved in a hot bath, are thought to be absorbed through the skin. Magnesium helps ease sore muscles, and the sulfur in Epsom salts is thought to help the body release toxins. The key is to drink lots of water before, during, and after an Epsom salt bath to maximize its full detoxifying effects. Use 1 cup of Epsom salts in a warm bath and soak for at least 30 minutes to achieve the full benefits.

Baths with Essential Oils

When you are not feeling your best, there is nothing more soothing than a hot bath. The warm water opens pores, can aid congestion, and help the body and mind to relax. Every essential oil has different qualities, so choose the ones that will benefit you and your symptoms. Add 4-6 drops to a warm bath to enjoy their healing benefits.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia and others)

Lavender is relaxing to the nervous system and helps with achieving restful, relaxing sleep. Lavender has also been proven effective for improving symptoms of anxiety and depression.

study published in 2012 found that participants inhaling lavender essential oil had a significant decrease in blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature, and that those using the oil were more relaxed and had increased brain activity. Another study published by the Journal of Psychiatry found that using 80 milligram capsules of lavender essential oil helped alleviate anxiety, sleep disturbances and depression. The study also noted that there were no adverse effects or drug interactions when using lavender essential oil.

Frankincense

Frankincense can be used for congestion, to reduce the symptoms of a cold or flu, and to stimulate the immune system. It also helps clear the mind and enhance mood.

In a lab study conducted by researchers at Mansoura University in Egypt found that frankincense oil strongly stimulated the immune system.

Chamomile (Roman or German)

Chamomile is relaxing, beneficial for anxiety and depression, and is a strong anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.

A research study in the Journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine found that chamomile provided significant antidepressant activity. Chamomile also combines well with lavender for its soothing, calming effects.

Orange

Orange is a beautiful oil for reducing stress, muscle tension, and anxiety.

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Complementary Therapies of Medicine found that inhaling orange and rose oils causes physical as well as psychological relaxation.

Rose

Rose is a particularly beneficial essential oil for the skin, so adding it to a warm bath will open pores and leave your skin feeling fabulous (and smelling amazing!). Rose is also beneficial for depression and anxiety as noted in a study in the Journal Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice.

The study used 20 postpartum women experiencing depression and/or anxiety. They were split into two groups, with one being given 15 minute aromatherapy using an essential oil blend using rose and lavender oil. Aromatherapy sessions were twice a week for four weeks. The aromatherapy group experienced significant improvements in anxiety as well as a significant decrease in postnatal depression.

Boost the Immune System

If your body is fighting an infection, you’ll want to avoid unhealthy foods and other substances that can undermine our immune system. There are also things you can do to give your immune system such much needed support.

Black Elderberry (syrup or gummies)

Black elderberry is a potent antiviral and immune booster. When taken at the first sign of illness, black elderberry has been proven in various studies to reduce the length and severity of colds and influenza. Black elderberries are also very high in vitamin C.

The results of a clinical trial published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that the study participants using black elderberry saw a significant improvement of the symptoms of influenza (including fever) and they recovered more quickly than those in the control group.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in the Journal of International Medical Research studied participants who had been experiencing flu symptoms for 48 hours or less. Participants received 15ml of black elderberry or placebo syrup four times a day for five days and recorded their symptoms. The group receiving the elderberry syrup recovered four days earlier on average and the use of rescue medication was significantly less than in the placebo group.

Because of its recent popularity, black elderberry can be found at most drug stores and usually comes in syrup or gummies for adults and children. Black elderberry is also an excellent preventative, especially if someone in your house is already sick and you want to avoid catching it.

Vitamin C

Our bodies need vitamin C to help us fight infections and to produce white blood cells, which are a vital component of our immune systems. Vitamin C is also one of the best vitamins to boost the immune system and help us fight foreign adversaries.

An article published in Nutrients states that vitamin C exerts a multitude of beneficial effects on both the innate and adaptive immune system, and that vitamin C appears able to prevent and treat respiratory and systemic infections.

The best way to get vitamin C is through the food we eat. Below are some of the best food sources of vitamin C.

  • rose hips
  • chili pepper
  • guava
  • cantaloupe
  • oranges
  • grapefruits
  • kiwis
  • strawberries
  • papaya
  • tangerines
  • black currants
  • spinach
  • snow peas
  • kale
  • broccoli
  • bell peppers
  • tomatoes
  • Camu camu
  • acerola cherry
  • Chinese red dates

Vitamin D

The sun is our best source of vitamin D, so getting outside and soaking up some of the sun’s rays is a beneficial daily activity and especially important when fighting pathogens. Vitamin D is critical for a robust immune system. It reduces inflammation and modulates new cell growth, glucose metabolism, and immune function.

review in the Journal Nutrients published in 2020 discusses vitamin D and its importance for a strong immune system. The study authors state that vitamin D stimulates multiple components of the innate and adaptive immune system, and that low levels of vitamin D increase the risk of developing several immune related diseases like diabetes and multiple sclerosis.

Besides the sun, there are many food sources of vitamin D, which are listed below.

  • cod liver oil
  • salmon
  • swordfish
  • tuna
  • orange juice fortified with vitamin D
  • dairy and plant milk fortified with vitamin D
  • sardines
  • beef liver
  • cheddar cheese
  • sardines
  • crimini mushrooms (and some other mushrooms)
  • pork chops
  • eggs

Acupressure

Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice that has been around for more than four thousand years and is used to treat the entire body. Acupuncture points are located throughout the body’s surface and are all connected via internal pathways, or meridians, through which energy flows. They function as a kind of biological internet, with each point joined to every other point through a complex network of pathways running inside the body connecting to organs, muscles, vessels, and other tissues. Points can be used by themselves or in combination to bring the body back to health.

Acupressure uses acupuncture points, applying gentle pressure with a fingertip instead of an acupuncture needle. Some points on the body are known to powerfully stimulate the immune system, improve pain, alleviate congestion and reduce fevers. Learning where these points are located means you can stimulate them whenever you wish, depending on the situation and your needs.

Acupressure Points

Stomach 36

Stomach 36 is located approximately four finger widths below the bottom edge of the kneecap and one thumb width on the outside or lateral aspect of the shin bone or tibia. It falls into a natural depression between the two bones of the lower leg, the tibia and fibula. This point is often sore, making it relatively easy to find.

Stomach 36 is one of the strongest points for boosting immunity. It stimulates the body’s energy (or qi), benefits digestion, treats vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, and calms the mind. It is also an excellent point to stimulate regularly to boost energy and keep your defenses strong.

Large Intestine 4

Large intestine 4 is located on the hand between the thumb and the first finger. When you gently press the thumb and first finger together, the point is located at the highest point of the mound created. This point is sore on almost everyone and can be quite strong when needled, often having an achy, distended feeling.

Although large intestine 4 isn’t a point used specifically to boost the immune system, it is included here for its utility for many conditions, especially cold and flu symptoms. Master point for the head and face, large intestine 4 treats headaches, dizziness, congestion, swelling, and pain. It is also a point used for pain anywhere in the body, which helps treat the aches and pains associated with colds and flu.

Large Intestine 11

Large intestine 11 is located on the arm at the end of the crease created when you bend at the elbow. The point is on the radial side, the same side as the thumb, on the outside of the arm. If you bend your arm completely at the elbow, the point is located right at the end of the crease and is quite tender on most people.

Large intestine 11 is an excellent point for clearing heat in the body and is used for reducing fevers. It is known to drain the heat causing sore throat and toothache and treats many skin conditions with heat as their source. It is a strong point for boosting the immune system and preventing colds and flu.

Kidney 27

Kidney 27 is located on the chest, just below the collarbone, about two thumb widths from the midline. This point falls into a depression between the first intercostal space—between the clavicle and the first rib. This point is generally tender to the touch and even more so if you have an upper respiratory tract infection.

Kidney 27 is indicated for problems of the chest, like cough, wheezing, phlegm, and chest pain. Kidney 27 strongly stimulates the immune system and is excellent for those suffering from upper respiratory tract infections like bronchitis. It is also a good point to stop vomiting.

Acupressure–The Method

You can do acupressure on these points anytime you feel run down or are sick and want to recover more quickly.

Make sure you have about 15 minutes to do the protocol so you are relaxed and don’t feel rushed.

You can start on the leg with stomach 36 and work up to kidney 27 on the chest. Starting at the bottom and working your way up, this would be the order:

  1. Stomach 36
  2. Large intestine 4
  3. Large intestine 11
  4. Kidney 27

All the points are bilateral, meaning they are on both sides of the body, so you want to do each point on both sides before moving on to the next one.

Apply pressure (whatever amount is comfortable) for 30 seconds on each point. Do both sides, then move on to the next point in the sequence.

Cycle through the points until you have done all four. You can do this once or twice a day or as needed.

Final Thoughts

The common illnesses we encounter seem an inevitable part of life. And while we probably avoid them sometimes if we are built up enough—eating well, managing stress, and getting enough sleep—there are times we will succumb, no matter how hard we try. I always like to use natural approaches and support the body’s healing ability before I turn to medications. Nature possesses an enormous reservoir of healing wisdom if we know to use it.

How to Beat the Amoxicillin Shortage Before it Becomes a Crisis https://americanconservativemovement.com/how-to-beat-the-amoxicillin-shortage-before-it-becomes-a-crisis/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/how-to-beat-the-amoxicillin-shortage-before-it-becomes-a-crisis/#respond Mon, 21 Nov 2022 19:42:06 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=185315 America is on the path toward a massive Amoxicillin shortage. Anyone who has tried to get it recently either lucked out on the first try or had to search again and again for a pharmacy that could fulfill the prescription. We are on the verge of a full-blown antibiotic crisis and the Biden-Harris regime has it on the backburner. It’s not that they don’t want to fix it. It’s that the United States is so beholden to China for pharmaceuticals that the regime doesn’t have an easy fix.

Around 90% of the ingredients used to make drugs like Amoxicillin come from China. This is an ugly situation to be in with a supply chain crisis and tensions rising. Winter is coming. This isn’t the time to be short on drugs that can prevent a simple infection from becoming life-threatening. (I talk more about this in the video below)

This is why we started working with a company that ships Amoxicillin and four other antibiotics to telehealth patients. Those who have read my work or heard my shows for the past year or so know that proper preparedness has been one of my biggest pushes and being prepared medically is on the top of the list. One does not have to be a full-blown “doomsday prepper” in a bunker to make common sense choices as negative situations continue to rise in America.

Of all the problems we face as a nation and as a people, this is the one that has the fewest options available for both our government and for individuals. We can debate the insanity of becoming dependent on China some other time. Today, we need to focus on solving the problem, and for individuals that means stocking up on antibiotics that can be stored long-term (use promo code “RUCKER10” for $10 off).

Medical professionals have been ringing the alarm bell of late, but the warnings are getting drowned out by a partnership between government, corporate media, and Big Pharma to focus solely on getting as many people to take the Covid jabs as many times as possible. There’s money, power, and access on the line for those who are supposed to be revealing the medical truth and unfortunately for us the Covid jabs are the only priority. According to Prevention:

There’s no clear answer. The ASHP lists out several pharmaceutical companies that have reported amoxicillin shortages and noted that they didn’t provide a reason for the lack of supply.

But amoxicillin has “become restricted in the supply chain due to increased use,” says Stephanie Field, M.B.A., director of pharmacy business services at Corewell Health West. Meaning, demand for the drug has ramped up as a slew of illnesses circulate.

It’s also possible that supply chain issues that have plagued nearly every industry since the pandemic began are at play here, too, says Crystal Tubbs, Pharm.D., associate director of pharmacy services at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “Shortages in general can be caused by supply/demand issues, shortages of raw materials or other ingredients needed to manufacture the drug, logistics interruptions and/or challenges with manufacturing facilities,” she explains.

According to Red State:

Translation: Big Pharma is too busy counting their billions from the utterly ineffective COVID vaccines they are still pushing to care about mundane drugs that actually work. The problem has become critical, as the Daily Mail notes.

The Children’s Hospital Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics joined forces to urge the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to declare a Public Health Emergency in order to assist strapped hospitals.

Declaring a state of emergency would allow Secretary Becerra to distribute financial assistance to states, work with companies to produce more treatments and supplies, loosen licencing requirements that will help alleviate healthcare staffing shortages, and expand hospital capacity.

Maybe if it was an issue among illegal immigrants they might care. But I digress.

A sick child’s parents have no patience for muddled supply chain blaming, even as earlier this year, hungry babies’ parents were in no mood for sanctimonious breastfeeding lectures in lieu of fixing the baby formula shortage. Considering the Biden Administration’s utter ineptitude in solving the baby formula crisis, perhaps we shouldn’t ask them to look at the amoxicillin problem.

We chose long ago to only work with sponsors who offered real solutions to our readers. This is why we’re not promoting inconsequential sponsored products like “Lordships” or coffee mugs. Those can be extremely profitable, but we make sure all of our sponsors are making a difference for Americans, either with their products like storable antibiotics or their companies like Mike Lindell.

It’s getting crazier and crazier out there. The midterm elections didn’t offer much relief. With the Chinese Communist Party bent on opposing America as well as taking control of Taiwan, it’s very likely we will see a full-blown Amoxicillin crisis someday soon. Now is not the time to rely on the Biden-Harris regime or Kevin McCarthy to fix things. In fact, there’s NEVER a time to rely on government to do for us what we should be doing for ourselves.

America’s Diesel Fuel Shortage Could CRIPPLE the Supply Chain by Thanksgiving https://americanconservativemovement.com/americas-diesel-fuel-shortage-could-cripple-the-supply-chain-by-thanksgiving/ https://americanconservativemovement.com/americas-diesel-fuel-shortage-could-cripple-the-supply-chain-by-thanksgiving/#respond Sat, 05 Nov 2022 23:46:19 +0000 https://americanconservativemovement.com/?p=184512 The supply of diesel in the United States is still in a precarious position, and an insider in the auto industry warned if the crisis continues for longer it could permanently damage the already-weakened supply chain by Thanksgiving.

Automobile industry expert Eric Peters noted in an interview with radio host Kate Dalley that there will likely be a massive shortfall in diesel in the coming weeks “and that’s going to be felt economy-wide.” (Related: America is running out of gas: Surging demand leaves US with LESS THAN A MONTH’S supply of diesel.)

“Most people don’t appreciate the importance of diesel macro in the economy because most people drive a gas-powered car,” he said. “They don’t understand that everything that they buy pretty much is shipped from where it was made or where it was grown via a diesel-powered heavy truck and involved diesel-powered machinery to produce it.”

“If the supply of [diesel] goes down even 10, 20 percent, that is going to result in significant ramifications, generally speaking, across the entire economy,” Peters added. “Unless the numbers are completely inaccurate, and they may well be, I do think it’s inevitable that we’re going to see some of these dislocations right around Thanksgiving.”

Peters is referring to a report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) in October suggesting that the U.S. has just around 25 days of diesel supply remaining, which would put the country at zero diesel supply around the fourth week of November, right before Thanksgiving.

America’s diesel inventories are at their lowest level since the massive economic downturn caused by the 2008 Great Recession. Elaine Levin, president of Powerhouse, an energy risk management consultancy firm, noted that the diesel industry is “running on fumes.”

“That is a problem for everybody who needs to put it in the truck and burn it,” Levin said. She noted that if the supply of diesel decreases further, or does not improve beyond the EIA’s latest warning, prices will likely remain elevated throughout the winter.

The total distillate inventory figure for the U.S., which makes up roughly 85 to 90 percent of all diesel inventories, including other distillates such as heating oil, showed that the country has 106.78 million barrels left, up very slightly from the EIA’s report that showed 106.35 million barrels.

Levin noted that the figure for distillate inventories is uncomfortably close to the 100 million barrel mark. Once supplies hit this mark, it will start to create what Peters called “dislocations” in the fuel distribution system, as there won’t be enough to go around. It could lead to some places being prioritized for diesel deliveries over others.

As of Thursday, Nov. 3, the national average price per gallon of diesel was $5.311, or $1.672 higher than a year ago. Texas had the lowest average price at $4.715 per gallon, or $1.394 higher than a year ago, and California had the highest average state-level price at $6.3 per gallon, or $1.543 higher than a year ago.
