The Darien Gap, a perilous jungle corridor between Columbia and Panama, is the only land bridge connecting South and Central America. This makes it a critical point for migrants, predominantly those from Venezuela and other countries like Colombia, Ecuador and even China, seeking to reach the United States.

In 2023, the Public Security Ministry recorded around 520,085 total migrants crossing through the Darien Gap, with Venezuelans consisting more than 65 percent of the total. This year, 277,939 migrants crossed the Darien Gap as of Oct. 7, 36 percent fewer than the same period last year.

However, the data showed a significant spike in September, with 25,111 migrants crossing, marking a 51 percent increase from August. Venezuelans accounted for over 80 percent of last month’s crossings, with additional migrants from Columbia, Ecuador, China and dozens of other nations contributing to the increase.

Refugees International, a global humanitarian organization, attributed the spike to post-election crackdowns in Venezuela. The socialist regime, led by Nicolas Maduro, declared victory amid allegations of voter suppression and manipulation.

Maduro, who controls all Venezuelan institutions, faced limited opposition, with genuine opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez being forced to flee to Spain after Maduro issued an arrest warrant against him. This in turn led to violent crackdowns on protests, leading to at least 27 deaths and over 2,400 arrests.

“The crackdown in the wake of the July 28, 2024 elections in Venezuela has led to an increase in immigration,” the organization reported on Oct. 11, based on interviews with migrants at reception stations across Panama and Costa Rica.

Aside from that, Refugees International also blamed the suspension of MSF, an organization that provided humanitarian aid to migrants, due to the expiration of their agreement with Panama’s Ministry of Health.

Panama closes key entry points, starts repatriation program

Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino, who took office on July 1, vowed to address the migration issue by closing key entry points and establishing a repatriation program in collaboration with the United States. “Panama and our Darien [Gap] are not a transit route. It is our border,” Mulino said in May after winning the presidential election. At the time, he reiterated his campaign promise to terminate “the Darien odyssey that does not have a reason to exist… Because when we start to deport people here in an immediate deportation plan, the interest for sneaking through Panama will decrease. I assure you they are going to say that going through Panama is not attractive because they are deporting you.”

Since then, Mulino took key actions, including installing barbed wire barriers along frequently used jungle paths, shutting down “VIP” routes commonly used by Chinese migrants and establishing an agreement to begin U.S.-funded deportation flights for inadmissible migrants.

Unfortunately, these measures do not currently include Venezuelans, as Panama has severed diplomatic ties with Venezuela following disputed elections.

Tren de Aragua is a “Venezuelan prison gang and … they’ve been wreaking havoc throughout South America … since their inception,” according to Chris Chmielenski, president of the Immigration Accountability Project.

That “havoc” has now come to America.

The brothers of Venezuelan illegal alien Jose Ibarra, the lead suspect in the slaying of Georgia college student Laken Riley, are thought to be connected to the Tren de Aragua gang, the New York Post reported.

Aragua is one of Venezuela’s 23 states, and Tren de Aragua translates to “Aragua Train.”

Members of Tren de Aragua are “getting through some of these cracks that the Biden-Harris administration has exploited because of certain loopholes within our immigration law,” Chmielenski says.

Under Chmielenski’s leadership, the Immigration Accountability Project is working to “hold members of Congress and members of the administration accountable for their actions, votes, and statements that they make on immigration, and to educate the American people on how these immigration issues affect them in their communities,” he says.

Chmielenski joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the recent spike in crime carried out at the hands of illegal aliens, and what a new presidential administration could do to address the crisis.

According to NBC News, authorities are currently investigating more than 100 serious crimes that have been committed by an ultra-violent gang of migrants from Venezuela known as Tren de Aragua…

U.S. law enforcement and immigration officials have launched more than 100 investigations of crimes tied to suspected members of a violent Venezuelan gang, including sex trafficking in Louisiana and the point-blank shooting of two New York City police officers, according to two Department of Homeland Security officials.

The cases involving the Tren de Aragua gang show how hard it is for U.S. border agents to vet the criminal backgrounds of migrants from countries like Venezuela that won’t give the U.S. any help.

More than 330,000 Venezuelans crossed the U.S. border last year, according to Customs and Border Protection data, and Venezuela, like Cuba, China and a handful of other countries, doesn’t provide any criminal history information to U.S. officials.

Gang members are coming over the southern border in extremely large numbers, and once they are allowed in they can literally go anywhere in the country that they want. Sadly, violence seems to erupt wherever members of this particular gang show up.

Two alleged members of the dangerous Venezuelan ‘Tren de Aragua’ gang face the death penalty for the 2023 kidnapping and murder of a man in the city of Doral, in Miami-Dade County, whose apartment was ransacked by armed men.

Julio César Hernández Montero, 27 years old; and Yurwin Salazar Maita, 23, appeared by court order in county court Tuesday, where prosecutors charged them with first-degree murder charges for allegedly killing 43-year-old José Luis Sánchez Valera.

In addition to these charges, Assistant State Attorney Gabriela Alfaro told Judge Laura Cruz that the state will prosecute the co-defendants for robbery, home invasion, vehicle theft, kidnapping and burglary.

This would never have happened if the Biden administration had not let them in.

In the Big Apple, a member of the gang that entered this country illegally recently shot two police officers…

In New York, police say Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, a 19-year-old from Venezuela, shot two police officers last week. Castro-Mata entered the country illegally last July, a member of Immigration and Customs Enforcement told CNN. The Venezuelan has tattoos associated with Tren de Aragua – which court documents for a suspected gang member in Georgia describe as five-pointed crowns, five-pointed stars and teardrops – the New York Police Department told CNN.

Venezuela is more than happy to send their criminals to us, and the Biden administration is more than happy to take them in. Now crime in Venezuela is going down, and crime in our country is going up.

In Denver, members of Tren de Aragua have reportedly been given a “green light” to attack law enforcement officials…

At the same time, the gang has reportedly established a significant presence in parts of Colorado, Fox News reported. They were reportedly given a “green light” to fire on or attack law enforcement in Denver.

There have also been reports of the gang taking over at least two apartment buildings in Aurora.

Gang members were not just living in the apartment buildings that they took over in Aurora.

It is being reported that the gang was actually using some of the apartments for child prostitution…

A bombshell report details the complete control the criminal organization had on the Whispering Pine Apartments in the Denver suburb,

Vacant units had reportedly been used to host ‘parties’ where the gang provided ‘drug and child prostitution,’ according to the apartments’ manager, who added that the gangster said ‘minors are a good source of money.’

Sex trafficking is one of the major ways that Tren de Aragua brings in money. In Louisiana, women that were trafficked by the gang claim that they were forced “to have sex with four men a day”…

In a federal affidavit, two of the women described how they were trafficked by three alleged gang members who had entered the U.S. within the past year. All three suspects had been intercepted by Border Patrol after they entered Texas illegally but had then been released into the U.S.

The women say the alleged gang members arranged for them to fly from El Paso, Texas, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Once they were in Baton Rouge, the women were taken to a Ross retail clothing store to buy clothes. They were then taken to an apartment building, where they were allegedly forced to have sex with four men a day.

And apparently the gang has also been operating “stash houses” in several other states as well…

Officials arrested two suspects – both Venezuelan nationals – at the location, Allbert Herrera Machado, 23, and Osleidy Vanesa Chourio-Diaz, 26. Agents later arrested another Venezuelan, Josmar Jesus Zambrano-Chirinos, 23, identified in the complaint as a leader of the sex trafficking operation being conducted by the Tren de Aragua in the US. Zambrano was “operating ‘stash houses’ used for human trafficking in Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, New Jersey, and Florida,” according to the criminal complaint reviewed by CNN.

This is absolutely horrifying.

Our leaders know that this is happening, and nothing is being done to stop it.

Thankfully, there are a few politicians that are speaking out.  U.S. Representative Tony Gonzales has been consistently warning about the threat that Tren de Aragua poses, and he claims that “this gang has been known to rape children”…

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), whose district runs along nearly half of the southern border, said he has warned about the gang and is seriously concerned about the hold it already has in the U.S. given its record as an “agent of chaos and terror through Central and South America.”

“For months, I have sounded the alarm about Tren de Aragua and the threat this gang poses to Americans,” Gonzales said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “It’s graphic, but this gang has been known to rape children, murder, and commit nearly every other crime under the sun. We know that Tren de Aragua has expanded operations in Mexico, and some gang members have made their way into the United States.”

If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris really cared about our women and our children, they would seal the border immediately.

But they will never do that.

Instead, they just made an agreement with the government of Mexico to use buses to transport migrants directly to the U.S. border from two cities in southern Mexico…

The latest development between the Biden/Harris administration and the government of Mexico on the immigration front will see migrants provided bussing from two southern Mexico cities to the United States border. The plan will provide the migrants headed to the United States with meals and security during travel from the two cities to the U.S. destination where the migrant’s asylum appointments are scheduled under the CBP-One application.

The government of Mexico’s National Institute of Migration (INM) announced the new program in a Spanish-language notice issued on Saturday, referring to the initiative as the “Secure Emerging Mobility Corridor.” The two departure cities in southern Mexico will be Villahermosa, Tabasco, and Tapachula, Chiapas.

According to Libs of TikTok, a Texas-based oil/gas company issued a memo to employees informing them that police and the FBI have warned armed Cuba and Venezuela migrant gangs are committing thefts in the Permian Basin (America’s highest producing oil field).

These individuals and groups are armed, violent in nature and will not hesitate to use force.

Crimes associated with these groups include the theft of oil, diesel fuel, copper wire, and catalyst elements. Recent incidents have also included two assaults by water haulers who were attempting to steal oil from WTX oilfield sites. After the thieves were observed by witnesses who drove up to investigate, the thieves attempted to use their vehicles to run the witnesses off the road. In another incident, a thief, acting as a spotter and following a water hauler who had stolen oil, also attempted to run a witness off the road. There have been numerous reports of second vehicles acting as spotters for water haulers committing oil thefts.

But trust me when I tell you that I know both of these courageous men, and they haven’t even yet described the real horrors of what they know is coming.

Prepare while you can. If you remain in the cities when this chaos is deliberately unleashed, you will almost certainly die. As Yon says, it’s time for “big boy rules.” Bad choices have bad consequences, and nobody is coming to save you. Most certainly not your government, which has conspired to engineer this exact scenario that they hope will result in your extermination and replacement. The Democrats’ war on the American people is probably only months away from going hot, due to invaders and terrorists who were deliberately let into the country by the Democrats themselves, almost all functioning as straight-up traitors to America.

Americans for Tax Reform examined the plan that she has endorsed, and they concluded that it would raise taxes by 5 trillion dollars over the next 10 years.

The biggest chunk of that new money would come from raising the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent…

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is proposing to increase the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21% if she wins a November election against Republican rival Donald Trump, her campaign said on Monday.

Harris campaign spokesperson James Singer said the move would be part of “a fiscally responsible way to put money back in the pockets of working people and ensure billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share.”

We are being told that raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent would bring in about a trillion dollars in revenue over the course of the next ten years…

When Trump was president, he slashed the corporate tax rate to 21% from 35% and implemented other tax breaks that are set to expire next year. Trump has vowed to make the cuts permanent.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan advocacy group, said on Monday that Harris’ proposal to raise the corporate income tax rate to 28% would reduce the U.S. deficit by $1 trillion over a decade.

But we certainly won’t raise that kind of revenue if corporations start moving out of the country in very large numbers. If what Kamala Harris is proposing becomes law, we will actually have a higher corporate tax rate than communist China…

Kamala Harris wants to hike the current 21% federal corporate income tax rate to 28%, higher than communist China’s 25% and the EU average of 21%, her campaign said Monday.

The Kamala Harris federal 28% rate is higher than the Asia average corporate tax rate of 19.8%, the EU average of 21%, the world average of 23.5%, and the OECD average of 23.7%.

If you don’t want to be called a communist, don’t try to tax businesses even harder than the communists.

Another element of the plan that Kamala Harris wants to implement that is causing a lot of controversy is a proposal to tax the unrealized capital gains of the ultra-wealthy.  According to the Los Angeles Times, taxing those unrealized capital gains is part of a scheme for “a 25% minimum tax on the annual income of taxpayers with wealth of more than $100 million”…

All right, guys, take a deep breath. Harris hasn’t proposed taxing your unrealized capital gains, or mine. What she has said, as the Harris campaign told me, is that she “supports the revenue raisers in the FY25 Biden-Harris [administration] budget. Nothing beyond that.”

So what’s in that Biden-Harris administration budget for fiscal year 2025?

The budget plan does indeed call for taxation of unrealized capital gains held by the country’s uber-rich. That’s part of its proposal for a 25% minimum tax on the annual income of taxpayers with wealth of more than $100 million — a wealth tax. If you’re a member of that cohort, lucky you. But at that level of affluence you don’t have grounds to complain about paying a minimum 25% of your annual income.

Maybe you agree with Harris that it is time to stick it to the ultra-wealthy. Okay, but what is going to happen when lots of them decide to move out of the United States because they don’t want their unrealized gains taxed?

As Chicago venture investor Robert Nelson has pointed out, this proposal would have very serious consequences for our economy…

Taxing unrealized gains is truly the most insane, economy destroying, innovation killing, market crashing, retirement fund decimating, unconstitutional idea, which was probably planted by Russia or China to destroy the economy. Dems need to run away from this wildly stupid idea.

Many of the ultra-wealthy were originally inclined to support Harris.

Why is she seemingly intent on driving them away?

So far, I have just discussed two of the elements of the plan that Harris has endorsed.  There are quite a few others that are also very troubling…

• Having small business owners pay taxes on their individual tax returns, up to 39.6 percent from the current 37 percent
• Imposing a second “death tax” — a mandatory capital gains tax at death — in addition to the current death tax
• Imposing a 21 percent global minimum corporate tax rate, which goes beyond the Organization for Economic Development’s (OECD) current 15 percent global minimum tax rate
• Quadrupling the tax on stock buybacks, which would impact Americans’ 401(k)s and other retirement accounts
• A 30 percent federal excise tax on electricity used in cryptocurrency mining
• A $37 billion tax on American energy
• A 32 percent increase in Medicare taxes

This is insane.

The federal government does not have a revenue problem.

Right now, the federal government is bringing in about 5 trillion dollars a year. What the federal government has is a spending problem.

We are trying to live way beyond our means, but the American people just keep sending the same big spenders back to Washington.

We are literally in the process of committing national suicide, and I really wish that I could get more people to understand that.

The national debt has surged past the 35 trillion dollar mark, and it continues to rise at a pace of more than 200 million dollars an hour.

Our federal government is the largest government in the entire history of our planet, and if #ComradeKamala gets into the White House it will inevitably get even larger.

According to The Guardian:

After a six-hour delay in releasing the results of Sunday’s poll prompted international concern, Venezuela’s electoral council claimed Maduro had won with 51.21% of votes compared with 44.2% for his rival, the former diplomat Edmundo González Urrutia.

The council said that with about 80% of votes counted, Maduro had secured more than 5m compared with González’s 4.4m.

Independent observers had described the election as the most arbitrary in recent years, even by the standards of an authoritarian regime that started with Maduro’s mentor and predecessor, Hugo Chávez.

Critics blame Maduro for leading Venezuela into a crippling economic and social crisis, as well as turning the country into an increasingly repressive state where political opponents are routinely jailed and tortured.

As they say, you can vote yourself into socialism but you can’t vote yourself out of it.

Venezuelans going to the polls Sunday will be asked to answer an unusually provocative question:

Should their government be given a blank check to invade neighboring Guyana, and wrest away three-quarters of its oil-rich territory?

Of course they never would have held this vote if they were not pretty sure of the outcome.

Apparently there is a very old “territorial dispute” that would supposedly justify grabbing 74 percent of Guyana’s current territory…

The government of Nicolás Maduro is putting the query before voters, part of a century-old territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana that is raising tensions in the region and threatening to escalate into a shooting war.

The question will be on the ballot in a five-part referendum that, among other things, would grant Maduro special powers to invade Guyana and create a new Venezuelan state encompassing 74% of English-speaking Guyana’s current landmass. The new area would be called Guayana Esequiba.

So if Venezuela does this, would anyone intervene?

The government of Brazil has already expressed their concerns, and the Brazilian military has bolstered forces in the northern part of the country…

“The Ministry of Defense has been monitoring the situation. Defensive actions have been intensified in the northern border region of the country, promoting a greater military presence,” Brazil’s defense ministry said in a statement.

I never imagined that we would be talking about a potential war between Venezuela and Brazil in 2024, but here we are.

Could the U.S. also get involved? It is no secret that the U.S. has wanted to get rid of Maduro for a long time, but we already have our hands full with wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Speaking of the Middle East, the USS Carney and at least two commercial ships were attacked in the Red Sea on Sunday…

A U.S. warship and multiple commercial vessels were reportedly under attack in the Red Sea on Sunday.

The development could signify a serious escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Middle East linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

“We’re aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as it becomes available, later,” a Pentagon spokesman told Fox News, after the Associated Press reported on an attack on a U.S. warship in the Red Sea.

It is being reported that the USS Carney actually shot down two drones during the attacks…

The Carney responded after hearing from the Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier Unity Explorer that it was under attack by missile fire, the official said. The Carney shot down two drones during the attack, one in self-defense and another after checking on the Unity Explorer, the official said.

So who was responsible?

The Houthis in Yemen have taken responsibility for attacking the commercial ships, but they haven’t said anything about the USS Carney…

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who have ambushed multiple ships in the Red Sea in recent days, claimed responsibility for attacking two commercial ships but made no mention of the Carney.

The attacks, combined with an increase in clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah near the Lebanon border, could represent steps toward an expansion of the war in the region, something the Biden administration has labored to prevent.

Will the U.S. bomb the Houthis in retaliation for this attack? We shall see.

Meanwhile, the IDF is operating “in new areas of the Gaza Strip”, and Yoav Gallant says that the ultimate goal of this operation is “the absolute elimination of the Hamas terror organization”…

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated on Saturday night that the military is operating in new areas of the Gaza Strip, adding that Jerusalem’s war objective to fully dismantle Hamas remains unaltered.

“In the last two days, we are operating in areas we have not been active in over the last month, and it will increase and intensify,” said Gallant. “This operation will reach every point that needs to be reached. We are going for the absolute elimination of the Hamas terror organization.

“We are going until we defeat them, dismantle their military capabilities and break their governing ability, and we will need to do this by adapting to the new conditions of the terrain we are fighting in. There will be intense and precise fire,” continued the minister.

After the horrific attacks of October 7th, Israel has no other choice.

You can’t negotiate with barbarians that will kill children, rape women and kidnap the elderly.

One survivor of the attacks saw “eight or ten of the fighters” raping one very unfortunate Israeli woman…

After an hour, the shift manager peeked out. ‘I saw this beautiful woman with the face of an angel and eight or ten of the fighters beating and raping her.’

The woman was screaming ‘stop it’ he said, and begged the terrorists to kill her to put her out of her misery.

‘When they finished they were laughing and the last one shot her in the head’, he said.

The Israeli government fully intends to wipe out Hamas, and that makes major escalation of the war very likely.

On Sunday, Hezbollah once again attacked IDF forces on the northern front, and the IDF responded by conducting “extensive airstrikes” in Lebanon…

The Israeli military released footage of extensive airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Sunday following an attack by the terrorist organizations.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an anti-tank missile attack that “lightly injured” multiple IDF servicemembers. Israel responded with artillery fire and airstrikes.

IDF warplanes recently attacked a number of targets of the terrorist organization Hezbollah, including terrorist infrastructure and military targets,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari wrote in a statement. “Also, following the warnings in the north of the country, in the last hour a number of launches were detected towards Israeli territory from Lebanese territory. IDF forces attacked the sources of the fire with artillery.”

Now that the truce in the south is over, I expect more clashes to erupt in the coming days.

Hezbollah should stop while they still can, but they aren’t going to do that.

And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is warning that Lebanon will be destroyed if they continue to go down this road…

“We are acting in the north all the time against all efforts by Hezbollah to operate against us. We are eliminating terror cells, pushing them away from the border, destroying munitions. We will continue with strong deterrence in the north, and total victory in the south,” he said.

“It should be clear, we are committed to restoring security to the south and the north. If Hezbollah makes a mistake and enters into a full-out war it will destroy Lebanon with its own hands,” Netanyahu warned.

This is certainly a time of wars and rumors of wars.

We are being told that Ethiopia and Eritrea “may be heading for another war”, the Russians are advancing in Ukraine, a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan is looming, and North Korea is making all sorts of threats.

It appears that 2024 is going to be a year of war, and that is not good news for any of us.

Here’s the latest example of the border crisis hitting stores across America from Discern Reporter generated from corporate media reports:

(Discern Reporter)—Two additional Venezuelan migrants residing in Chicago were arrested on Friday for allegedly stealing merchandise worth hundreds of dollars from a suburban Macy’s, a store that has been a consistent target of retail theft by migrants during this holiday season, authorities reported.

Edys Alberto Herrera-Gotopo, 20, and Johan Gavidia-Rojas, 18, entered the Oak Brook, Illinois store together shortly after 7 p.m., each carrying empty bags, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors revealed that the two men collaborated, with one grabbing clothing items and stuffing them into a bag while the other served as a lookout. The roles were then switched before the duo left the store without paying, leading Oak Brook police to intercept them.

Herrera-Gotopo was taken into custody without incident, but Gavidia-Rojas led officers on a brief foot chase before being apprehended. The men were found in possession of $665 worth of stolen goods.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized, “The quick apprehension of the defendants in this case sends the message that law enforcement in DuPage County is ready for any would-be shoplifters and if you steal from any of our retail establishments, you will be arrested, charged, and prosecuted.”

Both men, originally from Venezuela and currently residing in Chicago, were charged with one count of retail theft, a felony. They were released after a judge denied the state’s motion to detain them pre-trial, with the condition that they are prohibited from entering the Macy’s in Oak Brook.

The Oak Brook Macy’s has been repeatedly targeted for retail theft, prompting authorities to advise locals and retailers to remain vigilant during the bustling holiday shopping season.

Last month, Oak Brook Deputy Chief of Police Reid Foltyniewicz warned of an increase in criminal activity involving Venezuelan migrants from Chicago after a series of retail thefts.

In recent weeks, at least nine Venezuelan migrants have been arrested for separate retail theft incidents at the Oak Brook Macy’s and a Kohl’s store in nearby Elmhurst.

With over 20,000 migrants pouring into Chicago since August 2022, the city continues to grapple with finding ways to accommodate them during the winter, as concerns over potential costs and risks to neighborhood safety are voiced by local residents.
