Even though credit unions are also exposed to the derivatives market, they are still safer than banks. We are advising everyone to take their monies out of the banks and put them in as strong a credit union as you can find. Credit Unions like Navy Federal are large enough to weather the storm which is only expose at five billion in derivatives as compared to banks which are expose in the trillions of dollars.
