It just needs to be embraced. Starting 6/23 otc farm animal antibiotics cannot be purchased with out vet Rx. Now small backyard homesteaders won’t be able to treat their animal without finding a vet, paying an expensive visit and purchasing what was once inexpensive OTC for much more expensive controlled price.

Our animals will be less healthy, more backyard animals will have to be culled as it may be cheaper to start over with a new chicken rather to get a vet to tend to your $5 (special) chicken.
It is my experience that homesteaders and small time farmers are very careful with antibiotics and medicating their animals. However the concentrated farming producers have vets on hand and have no problem mass medicating their flocks/herds etc. This won’t discpurage them from medicating their animals.
Though im curious intention of this new law which I speculate may be:
A) cut down on antibiotics resistance
B) stem an antibiotics shortage
C) cut down on unnecessary medicating of food animals
D) encourage healthier environment in leiu of medication.
But the consequences are an unnecessary hardship for small farmers and homesteaders and to the benifit of concentrated farming producers and the vetinarians who get more gatekeeping power over the essentials we need to maintain the health and viability of our animals.
