Gold and silver make sense but will they be confiscated?

Even if that doesn’t happen, if converting gold or silver to paper at a gain in paper dollars the IRS considers metals to be collectibles and hits the seller with a 28% collectibles tax.

States like MA also double the tax.

Kind of defeats the purpose of hedging against inflation.
