Actor Alec Baldwin has filed a civil lawsuit in Santa Fe, New Mexico, against prosecutors and law enforcement officials, alleging malicious prosecution and civil rights violations following the 2021 ‘Rust’ shooting incident.
The lawsuit accuses officials, including special prosecutor Kari Morrissey and District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, of defamation, withholding evidence, and using the case for personal or professional gain.
The involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin were dismissed in July after a judge found that prosecutors improperly withheld evidence.
Baldwin’s complaint claims the prosecution sought to scapegoat him and violated his constitutional rights, leading to significant emotional and financial damages.
